Who is in your opinion the best active european coach (not neccesarily most succesful)?
If posting, please do elaborate your choice.

You forgot Pianigiani TBH.
EDIT: Nevermind...

It's ridicolous not to put Pascual in the list. Yes, Barcelona has really good roster, but some other Euroleague teams have good players too, but only Barca shows really good quality games and stability. I would vote for him.

Where is the winner of last year's Gomelski trophy?

Even though Vujosevic does develop young players into good basketball players in consecutive years, my firm stance is that Partizans success in past Euroleague seasons ought to be at least 50% accredited to its fans. There is a strong argument appearing that it is highly unplausible to omit the fans role in this context.
Nevertheless, Vujosevic should be on the list if for nothing else than for the award recevied last year.
David Blatt did not pass my mind while creating the list.
They may play good (perhaps best in europe) currently, however, Barcelona has not achieved anything greater yet under Pascual. Pianigiani is still green in my eyes. Perfectly respect your viewpoints though. For every other coach not indicated on the list, as always there is the option to click "other".

Messina / Obradovic combo...
Simple choice. Just put together the list of trophies they won and compare. The best one is coach who won the most throphies. This is how the best coaches should be judged.

Maljković, Tanjević, Pešić?
lol :D
when was the last time Maljković and Pešić actually won something?
Where is Grigas, Bagatskis, Brazys, Maskoliunas and Krapikas?
Obradovic and Messina both are greatest, but Obradovic is my favorite.

This is a good argument. However, the rationale was for voters/commentators to select their prefered notion of what the best coach is in their perception - a sucessfull coach trophy wise (e.g. Maljkovic) or a dedicated fairly prosperous contemporary coach (e.g. Pianigiani/Blatt). With the risk of imposing subjectivity to the thread, managers like Obradovic or Messina are arguably a combination of both mentioned premises.

I really like Aito García Reneses. Even though he has not a great season in Unicaja he has been developing long good seasons in Joventut, Barça and even the spanish national team. He created at least in spain the new power forwards with good technical skills. And he has discovered and promoted people as GAsol and Rubio. Yes I like him!

Mike and David are as much European as Kobe is.
Wrong. D'Antoni played for Italy NT ('89 Euros) and has italian citizenship so if anyone deserves to be considered european that's him...

I think you have to differentiate a bit.
Messina and Obradovic are the most successful elite club coaches.
Gershon makes good ingame adjustments but it seems he needs a capable and quite sovereign second coach at his side. See Blatt and now Drucker. There's nothing wrong with a good tandem though.
Blatt has made a name for himself as a tournament coach, where he's had groundbreaking success with Russia. Country coaching is completely different to club coaching, imo. There's no reason to put him on Messina's and Obradovic's level as a club coach, even if it was all a bit unlucky in Efes and Dynamo.
I really doubt anyone could match Vujosevic's ridiculously successful job of producing results while developing talent at Partizan. At the same time, something tells me that Moscow, Athens, Piraeus, Madrid or Barcelona would be too big for him. Even if that's speculation ...
Easy pick...Obradovic by far. Messina is also good but Obradovic is a scientist.
For the rest: Pesic and Malkovic on the list?? Tanjevic?
I totally agree with Picek: When was the last time they won something??
And if we are discussing about Pasqual, Blatt, Vujosevic, Pianigianni, then where is Giannakis?
If you still have doubts about him, wait till May; you will get your answer.

So these guys are not good enough for you.
Tanjevic: 2008
Pesic: 2007
Maljkovic: 2005
But these are:
Blatt: 2007
Giannakis: 2005
