Come on Matt :)! I thought your NBA knowledge was better than that ;)
The NBA has had the 2-3-2 format for the NBA Finals ever since 1985! (In this case 2 in LA, 3 in Boston, 2 in LA since they have home court advantage)
As for Kobe, he's sharing the ball but it's his teammates who need to step up their games. Gasol wasn't much in this game (while he's been playing well in the other games). (Actually many critics are saying that Kobe has to do like Jordan used to do and carry the team on his shoulders)
Odom isn't willing to help much or take any leadership responsibilities and Bynum is playing ineffectively due to his injury. Artest may be playing well defensively while his offense has been suffering in this series. Fisher has been having a few good games while his other games were mediocre.
Gasol looked like a kid playing among men, I could've defended Celtics' bigs better than him, he was just absolutely and utterly pathetic
Odom was playing ok, but he needs to be more aggressive
Fisher should never be starting in a serious contender team
and somehow the Artest that used to score 20 points just a season ago is dead.

There is no doubt, Boston Celtics superstar forward Paul "Truth" Pierce is one of the top players in the National Basketball Association today.
Despite his NBA superstar status, there is one thing certain Pierce is just a heck of a professional basketball player and not a prophet.
This developed after Pierce failed in his prediction that the Celtics will sweep the next three games of the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles which would be held at the Boston Garden.
In game three of the much talked about NBA Finals, the Lakers beat the Celtics 91-84 at the home-floor of the latter through the heroics of Lakers veteran point-guard Derek Fisher.
The defeat foils Pierce prediction that the Celtics will beat the Lakers three straight in their own home-floor.
Pierce made the bold prediction earlier after Pau Gasol committed a hard foul on Kendrick Perkins with 1:12 remaining in Game 2 and the Celtics leading, 97-90, Pierce, as he
helped his teammate off the floor along the baseline near the hoop, was heard on video replays yelling, "We aren’t coming back to LA!"
The Celtics evened the NBA Finals at a game apiece with a 103-94 victory in game two of the NBA Finals.
It is not the first time that Pierce made a bold prediction regarding the outcome of an NBA playoff series.
Pierce also predicted after a Game 2 victory against the Magic in Orlando, which gave the Celtics a 2-0 series lead, that they will close the series at home.
He even posted a message on his Twitter account saying the Celtics to sweep the Magic.
The prediction did not come true as the Celtics lost one of the next two games in Boston and returned to Orlando for Game 5,
but eventually closed out the Magic in Game 6 in Boston.
With the controversy surrounding the prediction of Pierce, the Celtics and Lakers NBA Finals had become even more exciting for professional basketball fans around the world.

Rumor has it that Bynum will not be able to play for Game 7 (unconfirmed)
That said, what a lucky guy Adam "Ammo" Morrison is, I mean having the chance to net a second championship.:D

Lakers dominating the glass but Kobe can't hit anything.

I guess the NBA finals lost some interest over the years and I heard this also by fierce NBA fans. Still, having a game 7 with these two teams is a must watch of course. Every basketball fan should be watching it now :D

Terrible shooting for both teams. I mean both teams defend hard, but I'm talking about wide-open jumpers. Wide-open. Nobody can hit anything.

Had the feel of a defensive rock fight for much of the game, then the teams went three point crazy!
But the Lakers won and the deserved it. :)

Artest and Gasol saved the Lakers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel sooooooooo sorry for the Celtics, they had a double-digit lead in the 3rd. But such is basketball. Thanks to both teams for such an outstanding game. A true classic.
Kobe had an overall bad game but will likely be named MVP again. Well congratulations to him, now only 1 ring away from MJ :D
Artest: Thanks to everyone in the hood, my doctor, my psychiatrist, she really helps me relax....

Lakers champions again, congrats! I was actually rooting for them (sorry Matt :D). Game improved towards the end, at least there was some emotion.
Great game. Congrats to Lakers, they deserved it.
Artest and Gasol won the game in last minutes. Kobe also scored two very important back to back jumpers in last period.

Lakers fished more fouls and made most of them. I was rooting for the Celtics but still a great game for them even without Perkins.

Also, I expect Lakers fans to finally show love to Sasha.

Congrats for the Lakers on winning their 16th title and Kobe for his 5th.
This series was really great and even Kobe admitted that this years' title is the most difficult and memorable for him.
Kudos to Ron Artest for playing a great game 7 as well

Game 7 earns highest Finals ratings since 1998 series
NEW YORK (AP) -- Game 7 drew the highest preliminary rating for an NBA finals game since 1998.
The Lakers' 83-79 win Thursday night on ABC earned an 18.2 overnight rating. That's the highest for an NBA game since Michael Jordan won his last championship with the Bulls in Game 6 of the 1998 finals against the Jazz, which posted a 22.9.
The rating was 32 percent higher than the only other Game 7 of the last 16 years. Pistons-Spurs in 2005 drew a 13.8.
Ratings represent the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned into a program. Overnight ratings measure the country's largest markets.
The game drew a 39.7 rating in Los Angeles and a 33.9 in Boston.

Well apparently she's done an amazing job :D
Really Artest has transformed so much ever since joining the Lakers as a person. No more fights with fans or players and getting a technical every other game :p
I wonder what kind of relaxing techniques she tried on him though :p
P.S Jack Nicholson could always give Artest a hand with his "goosefrabba" technique :D

That wasn't a very good last game. It was pretty ugly from both sides. LA shot 35% and Boston 40%.
LA's saving grace was Gasol's rebounding. He had nine offensive rebounds and almost every one of those became another two points for LA.

THE BOLD declaration of Los Angeles Lakers superstar guard Kobe "Black Mamba" Bryant that the team will attain its third straight crown in the next season of the National Basketball Association is highly possible. Basketball experts said three-peat might be hard to achieve in the face of the tough competition in the NBA but if the Lakers will continue to play its full potential it is very possible.
The basketball experts said one thing going for the Lakers in its quest for a piece of NBA history is the fact that almost all of their important players will be back for the team to defend their crown. Bryant the heart and soul of the Lakers had an existing contract to play for the Lakers for many years to come.
With the superstar guard still part of the Lakers roster, the team will remain solid for years to come. Aside from Bryant other Lakers players who will be back to defend their crown are superstar center Pau Gasol, versatile power-forward Lamar Odom, veteran point-guard Derek Fisher, rising young center Andrew Bynum and defensive specialist Ron Artest.
Gasol had been a vital factor in the Laker's tough victory against its arch rival Boston Celtics in their best of seven NBA Finals.
The Spanish center provided front-court scoring and defense to frustrate and defeat the determined Celtics who was able to send the game into a deciding game seven. Odom although undersized as a power-forward still contributed big for the team with his ball distribution and clutch plays against the trough defense put out by the Celtics.
Fisher for his part provided efficient veteran leadership to solidify and add more spunk to the defending champion. Bynum for his part was a steady center who provided quality minutes in terms of scoring and defense for the team. Newly acquired Laker Artest is himself had a big contribution for the Lakers victory with his tough defense against the top scorers of the opposing team particularly in the NBA Finals against Celtics superstar forward Paul "Truth" Pierce. With those players mentioned back in Lakers uniform in the next NBA season it would very difficult for other NBA teams including the Celtics to defeat the defending NBA champion. To achieve their desired three-peat the Lakers however need to resign Lakers coach Phil Jackson to coach the championship team again in the next season of the premier professional basketball league in the planet.
Jackson is still unsure of returning for the Lakers in the next NBA season after Lakers owner Jerry Buzz said that if he needs to return to the team he needs to accept a pay cut from his current salary. A lot of NBA teams are also eyeing the services of Jackson in the next NBA season in the wake of the report.
If ever Jackson decides to leave the Lakers it would be a huge setback to the team in its quest to defend its NBA crown. However if he decides to return chances are the Lakers will become NBA champions again for the third time the past three NBA seasons. Buy cheap NBA Tickets online to supports your favorite team live.

It has been three days since Phil Jackson received his medical findings and like a hermit, he went on seclusion to ponder and review the said medical findings and reflect whether he will return to the LA Lakers one more time.
The news could be in later today, over the weekend or on Monday. Phil's daughter said his father will conduct a press-con on his decision.

Phil Jackson's spokes person revealed that one of the things that Jackson is fearing despite a seemingly positive medical report was that of the like of George Karl's plight where the Nuggets mentor had a health meltdown at the middle of the season despite being reported as healthy prior to the season.
We can remember how tumultuous that ordeal was for George Karl.

We can remember how tumultuous that ordeal was for George Karl. And now it looks like the free agents will wait until Jackson decides what to do. According to this article from the AP (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A2KIRyJxzShMQb0Aq8G8vLYF?slug=ap-cavaliers-coachingsearch), the Cavs want Brian Shaw as their next coach, but Brian Shaw would prefer to stay in LA if Jackson stays there another season, because Shaw is the likely successor to Jackson. So, if Jackson were to go to Cleveland, it could make LBJ more likely to stay.

This is somewhat new to me: the notion of Phil being on Cleveland and coaching LeBron James. Rather unlikely but I had seen stranger things. Until then, I'm wishing Phil the best of health.

Rather unlikely but I had seen stranger things.Agreed. I heard on sports radio that Phil Jackson's agent may be saying that he will go to another team to coach so that Jerry Buss, the Laker's owner, will pay him more money. That seems plausible to me.

I see, Phil is using this "Zen-master demand" as a leverage. I guess it can't be helped as Jerry Buss did announce that he plans on cutting payroll as the Lakers despite bringing home the championship, was at a hefty price.
($91,368,064) while our (Kings) cap space at this moment is around $36 M after Kenny Thomas, Larry Hughes and Mikki Moore's bloated contracts.
