The Tall Blacks need to improve and make themselves more intimidating.

By the way, Dillion Boucher is the one in the front who looks the most unusual :D

It's a Maori (natives of New Zealand) war dance.
All Pacific Island countries have one. For example Tonga has one and it is called "Cipi Tao". To see an example go to www.youtube.com and insert "Cipi Tao".
Cheers.

I used to watch a great deal of rugby when I was younger, it was always amazing to see the All Blacks' Maori war dance before a game. Really intimidating. Didn't know it was also performed by the basketball team though.

Nowadays all New Zealand national sporting teams do it prior to their game such as the Soccer Team (aka All Whites - All White uniform) and even the grass Hockey Team.

Thanks for the explanation. It's great actually. It somehow boosts the teams morale. :)

they have a national haka competition in New Zealand thats entered by all of the provices (traditionally each tribe had one) and that competition is huge, quite a site to see some of them, and i can tell you now compared to the new rugby haka that they have - the regional hakas make you crap yourself they're so scary

Great to hear that I'm not the only one from the Oceanic region.
However, damn now I can't say anymore Kiwi jokes LOL.

The best is and will always be All Black hake because they actually win the opponent in most cases after the haka and the game. Ice hockey team :D - they probably have no need to perform haka cause they'll lose the games anyway.

Well Troy & other Kiwis out there you blokes won't mind if I just give a quick demo to our other international members of some great Trans Tasman jokes (feel free Troy to fire right back at me with some Aussie jokes buddy, cause I love our Trans Tasman rivalry :D It's all good champion).
An Aussie, a Kiwi, and a South African are at a bar one night having a beer. All of a sudden the South African drinks his beer, takes off his diamond encrusted watch, pulls out a gun shoots the watch to pieces. He says "In Seth Efrika we have so many diamonds that we don't need to wear the same diamond twice".
The Kiwi (obviously impressed by this) drinks his beer throw his glass into the air, pulls out his gun and shoots the glass to pieces. He says "Wull mate, in Niw Zulland we have so much sand to make the glass that we don't need to drink out of the same cup twice".
The Australian then pulls out his gun and shoots the Kiwi. He says "In Australia we've got too many of those things people call Kiwis".
Why can't Kiwi blokes take their girlfriends to the Rugby?
They eat all the grass.
To leave on a good note. Kiwis are the favourite english speaking people of many Aussies. Not only due to the fact that we have similar cultures but also the fact that throughout our history we Aussies and Kiwis seem to look out for each other (such as during World War I - the ANZAC spirit: ANZAC - Australian & New Zealand Army Corps). On a personal note, my next door neighbour they're Kiwis from Auckland and they're a wonderful bunch - legendary stuff!!!
