Marlou Aquino- 6'9" pba veteran
Cris Bolado- 6'9" pba veteran
Yancee De Ocampo- 6'9" currently in the pba
Eman Samigue- 6'9" now playing in the PBL

I think I may have missed some more.

which brings me another q, is the pbl just a lower league, such as the nbdl or cba?

in a sense yes but not that low. i tihnk more of it as the nbdl of the pba. that's my thought.

im sure that guy in W. Kentucky is getting his ass kicked in the weight room right now...which in the long end is good because he will get more muscular.

chris bolado is only 6-7
as to add to your list there's also

erick canlas 6-9
francis de Leon 6-8
bonel balingit 6-9
Jayr reyes 6-7

japeth aguilar's father was a PBA legend his name is Peter Aguilar who i believe stands around 6foot5 to 6foot6. i dont know anything about his mother.

also, i believe the tallest filipino is the 7'3'' actor who has a case of gigantism

Who is that actor, what's his name?

I can't remember the name, but he actually played for the San Juan Knights in the now defunct MBA.

Though I should say that the guy can barely play basketball...

Japeth's father Peter is not that good a bbal player. He was hardly even used in the Ginebra line-up which consists of Ampalayo, Gonzalgo, The Loyazagas, Distrito etc. He rarely scores double digits. Japeth is far better than his dad just like KObe to Jellybean Bryant. Only Japeth is not of the same level as Kobe.

I think japeth stands 6'7" tall not 6-9, its american custom i guess padding up height with the shoes on. We used to have a PBA player whose height is 6-9 but his parents are not that tall thats what i know. His name is Bonel Balingit.
Even Shaquille O'neal liked his hulking built when he visited Manila several years back

i actually watched that game and bonel balingit gave shaq a little bit of a hard time as he didnt allow shaq to back down on him.

i believe you are right with the height padding, because of the padding it makes me confident that our players really arent that small. also, i remember marlou aquino looking more like 6'11" beside shaq who is supposed to be 7'1".

Japeth was last measured at 6'9", without shoes, both by WKU and by his parents. If you check out the forums at Gameface.ph, you'll see that in one picture that his head reaches past his parents' doorway.

Better check again what u hve read jonar, for what i know and what cbs news and other local press reported in Tucson, Arizona where Desert Christian HS is located, japeth really stands 6'7" in height w/out shoes on. Even his personal profile can attest to that.

well if its true that he is legitimately 6'9" then that is good. but i remember him being interviewed and he said he is 6'7" in solar sports desk which was less than a year ago.

Onono1,

I think you confused Gian Chiu for Japeth Aguilar here. Gian is the one studying in Desert Christian. He is officially measured at 6'7". Japeth, on the other hand, is the one who is redshirting at WKU. Peace.

By the way, Desert Christian HS is in Bermuda Dunes, California. You might want to check out maxpreps.com for the complete roster, schedule, and stats.

But for sure there's Desert Christian HS in Tuczon, Arizona. Anyway thnx for the information pal, what i could say is that Gian still has lots of baby fats to peel off his body. He is very young he might improve someday & based on video clips highlights of him, he's rather slow and not a strong leaper i reckon.

Yes, there's a Desert Christian HS in Arizona. Gian, though, is studying in the one in California. While I haven't heard of any college recruiting him, looking at his academic credentials, he might get into a Patriot League or Ivy League school. In case this pushes through, we'll have two Pinoy players in Division I next year.

Gian's way leaner than he used to be as a player for Ateneo High. 6'7" and 215 lbs are good dimensions. I just hope he lifts more weights and turns whatever baby fat that's left into muscle.

his dad Peter aguilar is also tall I think 6'5" if I'm not mistaken. there's always a chance of some genetic anomaly. that's how evolution happens when genetic anomaly gets passed on
