Yes, another poll. We badly need some posts in this section which are not-related to Engin Atsür :p

Ok. The players I've disliked most are:

- Kemal Tunçeri (one of the worst PGs I've seen. couldn't stand him)
- Hakan Köseoğlu (ball-hog, terrible decision-maker)
- Şemsettin Baş (after his Tofas days. Another ball-hog.)
- Asım Pars (Dört Adım Asım, turnover machine)
- Murat Evliyaoğlu (after his Efes days. He thought he was the king)
- Zaza Enden (Provokator)

The player I dislike the most should be Kutluay. I don't really know why. Perhaps, it has to do with my dislike for people who want to be everyone's best friend. It is strange, but I can't think of anyone else.

From among the retired players, I'd say Serdar Apaydin, Husnu Cakirgil and Murat Evliyaoglu due to their arrogant attitude. Cenk Renda because of his overambitious character. Zaza Enden because of his lack of good manners.

From among foreign players, every player that behaves in a thuggish manner on and/or off the court. Marcus Webb, Anthony Bonner, Bud Eley to name a few.

My undisputed number 1 is Kutluay, just hate him, but I think u all know this already :D
Then some random names like Semih Erden (2nd Tuncay of Fener), Nedim Dal, Asim Pars, Bora Sancar (how the hell is he allowed to play in the TBL)...

Semih Erden (2nd Tuncay of Fener)
Yes, exactly. But I have no problem with both of them :D

I dislike Ibo, too. There were times I utterly hated him; but in this summer, he gained some love from me, so he's no more the number 1.

I am surprised no-one mentioned Mirsad yet. He is defo my most hated TBL player for reasons that need not be described. I am also fairly surprised for the widespread dislike of Ibo. You are not all GS fans are you? :p :D

Lol, yeah I'm a GS fan, but only at football. At b-ball I'm not that kind of a fanatic :D
Dunno about Mirsad, it's not that I like his attitude, but I think he covers his attitude up with his effort on the floor, so people still respect him.

It actually surprises me that some of you dislike Kutluay, what is the reason behind? I thought Turkish fans in general liked him, but I'm surely missing something.

Well, Rikhardur, let me just say it's just too easy to like him, so, there is something wrong about him.. Just can't quite name it yet:p In addition, I've seen/heard too many news about him that aren't even related to basketball, so I'm bored with him already.

I actually like Mirsad. IMO he is the definition of intense;)

Here you go sariss, a post in a non-Engin thread;) (We, all the girls in Engin's forum are being sent here by sariss:D)

i really dislike him(MİRSAD), he is so ambitious but he couldn't use it positive way and i feel when watching him; he thinks he is the best player of our team so he orders his team mates (especially i remember he was in national team) and this behaviour was irritated me..
Second player i dislike is Hido, i sense he is some selfish:(

Mirsad before going to NBA:
I loved this player. He was easily my favorite player after Erdenay of all times. He brought Efes and Turkish NT what you cannot obtain by talent alone. He was a true fighter, a winner. I don't know if you remember those days, but at the age of 18 (or so), he won an away Olympiakos game by himself, and then many others. The win over Croatia in 2001 EC quarterfinals was his success only.

Mirsad after returning from NBA:
Well, he was disappointed in himself, just like we did (though, I still put the blame on Jeff Van Gundy, who didn't give him a chance). And his attributes changed. Being the first Turkish player to have been drafted, maybe he thought he should have been respected more. When there were rumors about problems in national team between Hedo and Mirsad, I knew who was to blame; It could not be Mirsad's fault. Later, it's been said that Tunceri, Hedo, Kutluay and Okur united against Mirsad. I would prefer Mirsad over all of them combined. Because I knew they were not fighting on the court, and Mirsad just could not stand this. Things may have taken place differently, but I still cannot blame Mirsad.

When he cannot contain his passion, he gets harmful for the team. And in teams like Ülker and Fener where there's not been a strong coach, he just gets out of control, and we all get angry with him. But I know I will never ever hate him.

Just as I said above, Mirsad was selfish for a reason. I mean I can stand him (I don't know, love makes you blind :p), but not to Hido or Kutluay (before the last WBC).

Atsür was really impressive, and it's great that we'll be seeing more of him, soon. Humble fighter... just like Kuqo and Gönlüm.

hımmm:rolleyes:
"sariss" you are also a hard fighter too;) .. these are all your opinions and maybe you are right, i was wrong.. as you attended my comment i said "i feel ... about him"
Anyway, i should mention that i don't love Engin(really). yeah, he is handsome but i really like him becouse he is humble, gentleman and he has self- confidence.. Do you remember Huseyin Beşok? He isn't handsome but he is a gentleman and i liked him too..(yeah, i liked him but i accept it is not as much as Engin, i never searched Huseyin from anywhere:p )

This thread is evolving slowly into a "favorite players" thread but I thought I would add my two cents.. Although I did not see how Mirsad was before he went to the NBA, I feel similar things as sariss does about him. I always attributed his aggressiveness to the frustration from the inability to change things, and that's why I could sympathize with him-though there is always the possibility of me assuming too much (a symptom of economists:D).

In the gentlemanliness area, Gonlum has always been my favorite. Though Engin Atsur is not so bad either:p

I think I agree with "muse" about the gentlemanliness of Kerem Gönlüm, and also about Engin Atsür, by his speech after Slovenia game in WC (ok, this is not Engin's thread:p). I agree with "sariss" about Ermal Kuqo's being humble fighter and I must add that he's a great gentleman too;)

P.S: "sariss", I like your avatar so much, because these two players are really the ones that I love (as I mentioned above;) )

I can understand the people that dislike someone who is universally popular, in my opinion it is difficult to like someone who is seemingly perfect at everything: playing, speaking, decent bloke etc.... In UK we had a snooker person who kept winning the WC and people loved to hate him as he was so "nice and normal".

We are huge IBO fans in this family, not just because he plays for Fenerbahce (although my husband thinks all FB players from any discipline walk on water!!!!) but the way he conducts himself.

This is a man who went to join the NT at the beginning of July for training camp and then the WC, following his first daughter's birth in the middle of June! He then saw her again at the beginning of September, which in baby terms will have been a huge gap in her development. He probably missed her first smile, and many other "firsts" - all for the honour of playing for his country.

She can be really proud of her father - a real sportsman who put personal feelings over the chance to represent his country at the highest level.

How can you hate him? It's just that he seems too good to be true!

Turkey seem to generate a lot of these kind of people and players - very lucky. :) :)

Ibrahim Kutluay...

As a bball player, he is a terrific shooter. But, his overconfidence in his shot made him too selfish sometimes, and in those occasions, I remember getting really mad at him! And people used to joke a lot about his penetrations (or should I say, boneheaded bumps on opponent's center :D).

Well, the most common phrase about him you would hear among bball fans here is "Even though I hate Ibo, I appreciate him as a bball player". He's the most mediatic bball player in a football-crazy country, and most people would say his name first when asked to say a player's name. That's why all the success would be attributed to him by our bball-blind media, and that's the main reason, I guess, behind our common dislike towards him: he's been flattered too much, and this is unfair to other players.

Ibo at the last WBC was a real leader, and as you may see from the first posts, that tournament alone affected our views about him.

it seems weird that none of you mentioned Tolga Tekinalp, that ugliest shooting, running and dribllin' guy to basketball ever! Haluk Yıldırım comes next.

I also hate Fatih Solak, God! The way he looks!??! I just can't even bear to see it. And his whiskers, tryin' to be next Del Piero after 20 years that fashion ran out!?!?
