TOUGH SERBIAN CAMP AWAITS NATIONALS
“Talagang magpapabugbog kami dito” – Coach Chot
Monday, 11 June 2007
As the hour of reckoning nears, San Miguel-Pilipinas leaves for Belgrade Monday for a week-long crash course on the European brand of basketball before turning its attention to the Jones Cup tournament in Taipei next month.
The 18-hour trip from Manila will take the Nationals to Hong Kong via Cathay Pacific at 8 p.m. before they board British Airways for the cross-continent flight to London and then Belgrade.
They will return on June 20, take a few days off, and plunge back into practice in preparation for the nine-day William Jones Cup tournament starting July 2.
"This is all part of the preparation, our going up against bigger and stronger teams," said RP coach Chot Reyes.
"In our research we noticed that our Asian counterparts are training in Europe. In fact, by the time we reach Belgrade, Iran would've wrapped up their training there."
According to Reyes, the Jordan national team is in Turkey right now, Qatar is scrimmaging with tough teams in Slovenia before flying to Egypt, while Syria is in Greece.
"We're scouting not only their players and their teams but also their preparation," Reyes said, referring to the Nationals' would-be opponents in the FIBA-Asia Men's Championship in Tokushima, Japan set July 28-August 5.
Among the five Division I Serbian teams that SMC-RP will be facing in Belgrade is a squad from Novisad which features a 7-foot import named Charles Chris and locals standing 6-11, 6-10 and 6-9.
"It's part of our toughening process, much the same of what we went through in the States," said Reyes. "Talagang magpapabugbog kami dito."

The latest news says that Kelly williams might not join the RP team . You can send a message to kelly williams persuading him to change his mind. alam mo naman , bata pa yan at merong tampo-tampo siguro. if your a true RP team fanatic, then it does not harm to try sendinh kelly williams a message. just dont quarrel him as that would be counter-productive. use persuasion and positive message. here is his website. you need to be a free myspace member:

The only way for our team to keep improving at International level, is to continuously play against TALLER, & TOUGHER teams, which is exactly what Chot has been doing thus far.

MEGA ISHRANA WILL PLAY INTERNATIONAL GAME ON WEDNESDAY
June 10, 2007
The season is over, but not for the all players of Mega Ishrana. The younger players, who are not with the national team, together with Ratkovica, Pekovic and Bajic will face national team of Phillipines, on Wednesday, the 13th of June, at 6 30 PM in Hall Sumice.
Philippines will not be playing against the Top Players of the Belgrade clubs... but only against the younger cagers....the first assignment surely will not be an easy game for the RP Team. This is Serbia, where best known international players hail.
Anyways, i'm pretty sure that they will get the necessary training they wanted after this camp in belgrade. This will certainly help our cagers on how to deal bigger and taller opponents expecially in the defensive areas.

i hope you're right. Maccabi Tel Aviv and Benetton Treviso are top teams of Euroleague and two of the richest basketball team in Europe.
in fairness to our national team but i dont see any point why team like Maccabi Tel Aviv and Benetton will play team like ours unless there will be an special arrangement to be done.
