Guys, I've read here that Kamil has been considered as one of the bext players in Slovenia 2nd league, and in Olimpija Ljubljana 2 ...
Anyway, technically speaking, who knows him? What do You think about his skills? I thought that he was really good (19years'old...), but there are rumors that Olimpjia Lubjiana will probably release him...

Pietras is one of the most talented 88' born players as far as euro-bball is concerned. He had some injuries during the season, still managed to score 13.7ppg and 7.7 rpg for Postojna in 1.A league. Solid footwork, post game along with his height but lacks body mass.
The problems started last year when Olimpija wasn't paying their players due to their financial crisis. Pietras agreed to stay only if he gets an improved contract. He improved to 5000 € per month for last season and with a raise to 8000 € for 07/08 and so on. When Olimpija got a new GM Rajgelj he considered that new contract as contrary to Olimpija's policy, he is talented, but haven't yet shown much of an effect and Olimpija can't afford to pay such an ammount to a player that might contribute in 2-3 years period in worst case scenario eventhough he might develope into a pearl. that's why Rajgelj offered a lowered contract which Pietras's manager of course didn't accept. Rumours are that one of the reasons was that Pietras didn't seem to be progressing as expected by some people's opinion.
Few months ago Pietras' manager started to shop him around, however it obviously did proove out there aren't any team on the level Kamil would like to play at, willing to pay 100.000 per season (+increasing further) along with guaranteed playing time- I got the feeling his manager became a laughing stock for that.
Best thing for Kamil would be to stay in Ljubljana, but obviously his manager is underestimating the slovenian players production. He won't get a club guaranteed in euroleague, doubt his new club would have as big of a tradition in developing youngsters either.

Too bad, I hoped he'd stay... of course it's always sad to loose a talent like that, but when a players manager starts to demand too much, because his client got a chance vs. Unicaja scoring 6 points in 2 minutes... i guess there is no other option than letting him go.

I am very interested in what Woma has to say about this though.

There is not much to add. Pietras is very skilled and will be a quality player, but he will be more of complementary player, than a leader or go to guy. Lack of physical tools will also hold him back a little bit.
I don't understand what his manager is doing, but calling euroleague clubs and asking for minues shows to me that he is very unrealistic. And it's never a good thing, for player and for his manager...

Rumors say that he will be offered to either an italian Team or a spanish/greek one, preferably of EuroLeague-level.
But I think it will be really hard for him to find such a team, as I feel he's too weak to play at a high level.

I think he was already offered everywhere. If conversations lead by agent are similar to ones he had with Prokom Trefl managment, than his agent (my player wants euroleague minutes) is very unrealistic. He will have to lower his expectations (regarding level of play and possibly money), or he will be still free agent in October, November, etc...
Only way for Euroleague team signing him will be a multi year contract and immediate loan to LEB1 team (in case of ACB teams). If Pietras and his agent can't understand it, then they have a problem...

Guys, I've just read the sport-pages of our local newspaper: Kamil Pietras has just started a try-out with our Team...yesterday...!
Strange thing. We are not an EL-Team, and we are not as rich as many other Teams either in Europe or even in Italy...I'm afraid that our Managers don't know how far from a ready-shape Kamil is! :(
Anyway, I think that the presence of Veljiko Mrsic as head-coach, and the injury of our starting 4/5 (Jack Galanda...) for 2 months, could have driven his manager to this decision...even if Varese could still refuse to ink him.
Opinions?

His agent finally realized that he can't play guaranteed minutes for EL team :D

That's it!
It's official, now: Kamil Pietras has just inked a 4-years' contract with Cimberio Varese. Olympia Ljubljiana has accepted the transfer to the italian Team.
Rumors say that Kamil will earn about 6-7000€/month for the 1st year, and each year more till the 4th and last.
There will be a buy out for NBA (and probably even EL...).

I really hope that our managers have done the right thing...:)

Thx Elaj.
We need it.
Kamil will be our starting-5 pivot for at least the first 40/60 days of the ITA-A1, as Jack Galanda will be out for the finger-injury (fracture).
And we'll play against all the best Teams (Benetton, AJ Milan, Virtus BO, Climamio BO, ...) in THIS period, of course...:(

Wait a minute... Varese has Giacomo Galanda as starting center and Kamil Pietras his backup? That won't end up good for Varese. Btw I hope Capin will play well this season.

That's it...You are wright...
We have rather a mess amongst all the guys in spots 4 and 5: Sandro De Pol (last year of career...); Marcus Melvin; Giacomo Galanda; Gabriel Fernandez; Kamil Pietras.
Consider that we will probably play in the 1st 2 months with this starting 4 and 5: Marcus Melvin and Kamil Pietras...! :(
I'm really worried...

WOW  :) Good info for this young guy :) I cannot wait for his first game in Italy :) I hope that he will be a key player for Varese ...

relax guys, Pietras wasn't all that bad, I mean he does have some physical shortcomings that will make him unable to go against tough centers, but he can be a nice back up or even surprise as a starting center, which lately aren't exactly on the same level as they were a decade ago, when Lega Uno was the best league in europe...
I still believe it was a wrong move for him to left Olimpija, but wish him a good luck from my part.

KAmil is after first game in Lega A. His debut was very very poor :( Pietras play only 1 minute, and in this time has 2 fouls ...

What can I say  I hope that in next games will be better

2nd game: Varese vs. Udine.
Embarassing match played by the whole Team.
Kamil has been one of the worst amongst all.
Guys, I've seen the match, and so let me say just one thing: This young boy is NOT ready to play in the ITA A1-League! He's completely out of any simple BB-fondamental and basis...!
How could it be possible that our staff-management thought that He could have been a good addiction for the Team starting from now...?
I can't believe it!  :(
