Just to be fair...
If you ask me?
I remember Karpis, born in us, but lt origin.
There was some russian centre in late 80 for a few games.
Anyway, I wish Price was in zalgiris .instead of Collins. As well as Chuck, instead of Jurak
And pardon my pun, i had few beers already waiting for the game ,because my ip provider throttles my net traffic till 11 pm, so I am watching late as if it is live ...i mean it is already 2 in the morning in lt,and i just started to watch the game

Karpis?.. late 80s?.. no shit man..:o the club is only around ten years old according to themselves, however, it is quite a contravertial question when it comes to 1998-99 season (I suppose?), when Jasikevicius played his season in the one and only Statyba-Lietuvos rytas.
Price vs Collins is very subjective, as Zalgiris has already two guards who take the offensive responsability that Price has in Rytas (distance shots, obviously). Chuck instead of Jurak... well Petravicius would probably also be better than Salenga, but it's just comparing two absolutely different players with different roles on their teams. And Jurak is a level lower than Chuck even if he has his advantages, while Chuck is one of Rytas leaders.

Now Chuck Eidson and Hollis Price are best foreigners in Lietuvos Rytas, but of course are good Matthew Nielsen, Kenan Bajramovic. I liked also Robert Stelmaher play( till injury) , Tyrone Nesby, Kareem Rush, Eric Elliott, Frederick House, Aleksandr Okunsky( first season)

Okunsky :D In the second season he was just a big joke
Yes Price is LRytas leader, but not always. Other non LTU players are very good too, except maybe Kenan Bajramovic. He makes so many strange mistakes, and his shooting style is discusting, but don't forget game vs Aris where Kenan played fantastic!

.
Well, you might argue that lietuvos rytas newspaper was established in 1990, but we all know it is load of bullshit .They just changed the name from Komjaunimo diena .Same goes with a team. There was Statyba, now it is lrytas, in five year time there might be none at all.
Italians basketball clubs change their names at least every few years. Do you think new team start in regional divisions ,or just change logo on their shirts

well, why then not to regard Sakalai as ex-Statyba? as far as I remember, LRytas were aiming to form a new club and publicly denied all relationships with Statyba. I also remember reading that Statyba fan-club were almost forced into the Sakalai camp. I personally think that decision (to build new club instead of reviving Statyba, maybe with a new name) was a big mistake, but I'm a Zalgiris fan and I dislike Rytas daily for their anti-Kaunas propaganda, so maybe my perception is skewed.
btw, majority of todays leading newspapers have soviet roots. majority of those that don't are tabloids or pulp. so no need to remind us how papers were called (btw, it was Komjaunimo tiesa..)
regarding the best foreigners of the club, I suspect top three play there right now.

one of the non-written rules of etiquete on this site states that poster should not
Seriously, you should stop telling other people to what to write and what not, as for komjaunimo diena or rytas ,who cares .

yes yes right, so what are you trying to tell us? read Lrytas page, history, an please don't try to invent something (am I also irritating you with restrictions? :D ). what are you trying to prove? yes they bought it so they could start playing already in the LKL. In a year or two they cleaned up all the players with played for Statyba. it's a whole new and different base, that's how Vainauskas wishes it to be, then so be it, why to argue? this club chose not to be connected to players like Marciulionis. it's their ambition, let them have it.
this example isn't one like in Italy, because their Climamio, Upim, Skipper or whatever will still always be Fortitudo (and all the other exampoles). There was Statyba, they erased it and dropped its history, while established Rytas, that's the fact.

Things in common between Statyba and first pure LRytas: General manager Algimantas Lizaitis, head coach Alfredas Vainauskas, assistant coach Algirdas Kaminskas, doctor Audrius Gocentas, players Virginijus Sirvydis, Aurimas Palsis, Audrius Vysniauskas, Martynas Purlys, Egidijus Mikalajunas, Andrius Vysniauskas

A year before establishment in Vilnius, Lietuvos rytas was supporting a team in Marijampolė which participated in LKAL (former name of NKL). It was called "Lietuvos rytas" Marijampole then. Darius Songaila played for it in that season. Year later he departed to colledge in US.
I remember some article in the so called the biggest lithuanian daily, where they were aproriating the merits for Darius' "developing" as a star of Lithuanian basketball, despite being a sponsor of that team only for one season.
