Ivan Mc Farlin

Hello,

Strasbourg IG, my team, is very close to sign Ivan Mc Farlin, who played for Besiktas Istanbul in 2006-07 and for Ted Kolejliler Ankara last season. Could you tell me your opinion about this center ? How could you explain his poor offensive stats (9.9 pts per game at 47 %) ? Does he have a real foul problem (3.8 per game) ?

I watched him at Beşiktaş, never at TED. So my impression about him purely relies on his performance of 2 years ago.

He is strong, thus plays physical and that's probably why he usually ends up with many fouls. I thought him as a PF always, not a C. He certainly lacks the offensive side of a center's game. You will see him doing very well in put backs, bounce back dunks and finishing contested lay-ups.

He has similar traits to Donnel Harvey if you know him.

I saw the game between the SIG and Besiktas in Turkey two years ago. Harvey and Mc Farlin played together, and played well indeed, by the way (27 pts, 6 boards for Harvey, 16 and 6 for Mc Farlin). I also know that he was tested by another French team last year (Orléans) and was not signed because of weight problems.

But his stats in TED were quite poor (9.9 pts at 47 %, 7.6 rbds), even if he realizes good games (19 pts, 11 boards against Efes ;19 pts, 17 rbds againt Alpella ; 19 pts, 15 rbds againt Darussafaka or 12 pts, 12 rbds against his former team, Besiktas).

I think three years ago he played in Nanterre, and then was signed by Sixers before being cut at the end of the preseason I think.
