I was waiting for the season to start before posting the rosters (maybe because they are still in progress), but now i'll just have to :P
Kammerichs is the biggest signing of this offseason (his main reason for such a move is his wish to return to his province of Corrientes), but is not the only returnee: the other one is Germán Sciutto, a SF who was playing in LegaDue.

Just keep posting and then you can add a post containing the complete rosters, let's just keep this section constantly alive :)
I must say I was surprised to know that Kammerichs had decided to return to Argentina, do you know the reason (money?)?

Apparently, he and his wife decided they wanted to live in Corrientes again. Also, he is a good friend of coach Silvio Santander, who spent some months lobbying him for a comeback.

Wow I had completely lost track of him, I thought he had already retired. Great comeback indeed if it's confirmed.

I think the logo is better than the previous one, but still has no Argentinean colors... that kind of makes no sense.

I do agree. It should contain at least something that reminds of Argentina. But it's certainly better than the previous one :p

The number of releasing and hiring of imports is being extremely high:
-Olímpico cut PG Andre Dabney and C Ed Nelson.
-Quilmes cut PF Jaz Cowan and SF Duane John, replaced them with Marcus Fleming and Tiras Wade.
-Quimsa cut SF Ron Selleaze, replaced him with Erron Maxey.
-Lanús cut PG Carlos Cedeño and C Nathan Mielke.
-Regatas cut SG Carlos Riveros.
And this is only the preseason:rolleyes: This is probably the worst consequence of this season's new rule, which allows a maximum of 3 imports instead of 2. LNB teams have always been very demanding and little patient for its imports, and it can't really compete with many richer leagues, so the typical revolving door of imports that come and go is getting even bigger. Sometimes it just seems ridiculous, like they don't know what are they looking for of who do they sign.

Wow, Ed Nelson was cut? Is he the center from University of Connecticut? I thought he was doing well overseas.
Yes, he's the same guy. He also played in Finland, in Giessen (Germany's first division club) and Orense (Spain's second division club).
Anyway, being cut by an LNB team doesn't always reflect the guy's talent (or lack of). Tony Farmer once was released from Atenas, and a few weeks later he was averaging 10 ppg for the Golden State Warriors:rolleyes: And there have been some recent example of guys being quickly released, then jumping to another LNB team and playing at a stellar level for the rest of the season.
Do you think that LNB teams are bringing players in without knowing anything about them?
Not exactly "anything", but maybe their careers stats, the list of clubs they played for, and little else (there have been a few cases of clubs signing Americans, and not knowing whether the guy was black or white:eek: )... unless we're talking about a player with LNB experience: they are usually more valuable, not only because they can adapt but also because coaches know a bit more about their game, and can consult others about their character. If not, coaches and clubs mostly rely on what agents can offer them.
But then, every club, every coach and every management is different. There are better ones, too.
Also, hasn't the big improvements of the league made imports less valuable?
Definitely so. I guess the quality of the average national LNB player is pretty high compared to the imports LNB clubs can afford; or at least it's higher compared to what happens in other countries. It's really hard to find a guy who can average 20 points, or even 17; but then, why do coaches expect so much from them? why do they judge them so quickly?

Adding a little stat to the previous post: last season, the sumber of import player signings by LNB clubs was 74 (some players were on two teams during the season)
74 signings / 16 clubs = the average team signed 4 o 5 imports during the 44-game regular season. Since last season every team had 2 imports, that means the average import lasted less than 20 games with his team.

Libertad Sunchales signed G/F Jackie Manuel.
This happened just 10 days ago. He's been released today.
Also, there was a funny story involving Jaz Cowan in Quilmes. The club originally wanted Marcus Fleming, who already has 3 LNB seasons. He didn't come, so they signed Cowan. After the first few games, Quilmes had decided to release Cowan, and then agreed to sign Fleming. In the meantime, the soon-to-be-cut Cowan played the last preseason game so well that Quilmes coach decided to give him one more shot; so he stays, and Fleming doesn't come... yet.
The other two news are Olímpico signing PG/SG Charles Jones (5 LNB seasons, former Bull and Clipper), and Gimnasia getting young SG promise Nicolás de los Santos on loan from his Spanish club Granada.

ARG - Kammerichs earns weekly honor in Argentina
CORRIENTES (Liga Nacional) - Federico Kammerichs of Argentina has been named Player of the Week in Argentina after solid performances in Regatas Corrientes' 1-1 start to the campaign.
The 2.03m forward had an impressive double-double in his team's 58-54 win over Obras Sanitarias.
Kammerichs poured in game-high 15 points and also hauled in 16 boards - twice as many as the Tyler Thomas Field of Obras Sanitarias, the contest's second-leading rebounder with eight.
In that game, Kammerichs and Co held Obras Sanitarias to just eight fourth-quarter points en route to victory.
In their second game, a 72-71 home setback against Zanella Ben Hur, Kammerichs 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Kammerichs was on the Argentina team this summer that won the bronze medal at the Olympics.
Peñarol defeated Quilmes 85-73 in the Mar del Plata derby that was staged this week at the Polideportivo Islas Malvinas.
In a very tight game, Peñarol had a 41-31 lead at half-time, only for Quilmes to fight back and trail 58-56 heading into the final quarter.
Sergio Hernandez’s Peñarol ended up pulling away at the end.

It's fine. Petracci has coached mostly teams from second, third and regional divisions in Argentina. His debut was in Estudiantes de Bahía Blanca in the top league in 2000, but it was his only season. He also coached in Chile, and he's 35 years old.

So how is the Argentinian League this season?
Which is the team that is the favorite to win the Championship this season? (Sorry for my ignorance but I don't know much about the Argentinian bball league and players other than those that are playing in the NBA (Ginobli, Scola, Nocioni, Delfino, Oberto, and Herman) ).

That was quite a good game, unfortunately (for me:D ) Atenas lost, but the bright side is that it would be hard for Atenas to loose a playoffs series since Atenas almost wins it without Leo Gutierrez, Labaque playing injured and with kante and Osella watching the game from the bench both fouled out.

ARG – Regatas storm into Quarter-Final showdown with Penarol
BUENOS AIRES (Liga Nacional) - Regatas de Corrientes completed a 3-0 sweep of Estudiantes de Bahia Blanca too book a place in Argentina’s Liga Nacional Quarter-Finals.
Juventud Sionista, Ciclista Olimpico and Boca Juniors are just one win away from joining them in the last eight.
Regatas, a side that competed in the FIBA Americas League and the Liga Sudamericana, beat Estudiantes 87-76 in Game 3 of their Reclassification Series.
Sebastian Acosta poured in 18 points, Ramzee Stanton 16 and Argentina international Federico Kammerichs 13 for Regatas.
Next up is a showdown with Penarol, who finished second during the regular season and earned a direct ticket to the Quarter-Finals.
Sionista lost their Game 3 to Quilmes Mar del Plata 89-73 but still lead the Reclassification Series 2-1.
Jazwin Cowan led the way for Quilmes with 22 points.
The winner of that tie will face Gimnasia in the last eight.
Quimsa, the runners-up in the Liga Sudamericana, edged Ciclista 75-74 and now trail in that showdown 2-1.
Julio Mazzaro scored 21 points and Jermaine Walker 18 for Quimsa.
Libertad await the side that prevails in that tie.
Boca moved a step closer to facing regular-season winners Atenas in the last eight after winning their Game 3 against Independiente 81-72. Juan Espil paced Boca winners with 18 points.

that FIBA article has one fact wrong: Regatas' quarterfinal opponent is not decided yet. The article assumes the winner of the 7th-10th series would face the 2nd seed (Peñarol) as in any normal league, but LNB reassigns the lower four seeds of the quarterfinals according to its regular season position.
That means, if Regatas (10th seed) winds up having the lowest seed of all four eight-finals winners, Regatas will become the 8th seed and face the 1st (Atenas). The other winners would be ranked 5th, 6th and 7th accordingly.

ARG – Scoring machine Espil helps Boca level quarter-final tie with Penarol
BUENOS AIRES (Liga Nacional) - Evergreen Juan Espil is proving to be a match-winner for Boca Juniors in the Liga Nacional play-offs.
After leading Boca past Independiente in the re-classification series and into quarter-finals, the 41-year-old Espil lifted his club to a 111-104 triumph over Penarol in Game 2 of their last eight showdown.
Espil, a former Argentina national team guard, erupted for a game-high 29 points in the win that has leveled the series at 1-1.
He drilled four three-pointers and also made all nine of his free-throws. Derrick Alston and Carl Edwards poured in 26 and 25 points, respectively, for Boca.
Argentina national team center Roman Gonzalez had 22 points in defeat.
Gimnasia bounced back from their 77-72 defeat to Sionista by thrashing them in Game 2 96-70.
Nicolas de los Santos led a balanced Gimnasia scoring attack with 16 points.
Atenas, the regular-season winners, are in command of their tie with Regatas de Corrientes after rolling to a 77-67 win in Game 2.
Andre Laws scored 15 points for the winning side.
Libertad Sunchales scraped a 78-75 triumph over Ciclista Olimpico and hold a 2-0 advantage in that series.
Danilo Pinnock's 23 points and Uruguay international Esteban Batista's 17 fired Libertad to victory.
Each Game 3 in the four quarter-finals will be played on Saturday.

ARG – Atenas, Penarol heading towards showdown for Argentina title
BUENOS AIRES (Liga Nacional) - Former Argentina coach Ruben Magnano and current national team boss Sergio Hernandez are close to squaring off against each other in a Liga Nacional title showdown.
Ruben Magnano's Atenas beat Sionista 78-67 to claim a 2-0 lead in their play-off semi-final with Andre Laws, Juan Locatelli and Juan Figueroa each scoring 11 points.
Atenas are finding it much easier against Sionista than when they went up against Regatas Corrientes, who took Magnano's team to a Game 5 decider in their first-round tie.
Magnano was the Argentina coach on the sidelines during their gold-medal win at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
Hernandez is at the helm of Penarol and his men hold a 2-0 advantage over Libertad following a 72-62 Game 2 triumph over Libertad.
Argentina center Roman Gonzalez and Fernando Malara each poured in 16 points for Penarol while Libertad got 20 points from Danilo Pinnock and 13 from Sebastian Ginobili.
Gonzalez also finished with 10 rebounds for Penarol.

Well Atenas gets back to a final after almost six long years, for all of you that might read this thread and don't know much about the Argentinian league, let me explain you that Atenas de Cordoba has been extremely dominant in our league since its creation. Atenas has played all 25 editions of the LNB and now is searching for its ninth Championship, this is going to be the 14 final and has reached semifinals in 22 of the 25 national leagues.
This are some of the best players of Atenas history:
Marcelo Milanesio, Hector Campana, Diego Osella, Fabricio Oberto, Walter Herrmann, Leo Gutierrez, Leandro Palladino, Roberto Gabini, Marias Lezcano, Bruno Labaque, Diego Lo grippo, Patricio Pratto, Andres Pellusi among others.

A couple last notes on this season:
1) The playing style has definitely become defensive and rough. Only one player averaged above 20 ppg, and only twelve scored above 15 ppg (http://190.210.33.29/liga/tablas_a0809.php?rubro=1&Submit=VER). And the roughest team with the best defense wound up winning.
2) Atenas had incredibly balanced scoring all year long (no player averaged above 14 ppg) (http://190.210.33.29/liga/porequipos_a0809.php?eq=ATENAS&Submit=Buscar). Peñarol was the exact opposite, with Jackson and González carrying the offense.
3) La Unión of Formosa and Unión of Sunchales earned their promotions to LNB. La Unión returns after playing one LNB season three years ago, and Unión gives a second LNB team to the city of Sunchales, only 20.000 big. I don't think there has ever been such a situation anywhere in the world.
And the market news for next season are already many and important.
-Román González left Peñarol for Quimsa.
-Luis Cequeira left Regatas for Sionista.
-Alejandro Zilli left Libertad for Sionista.
-Gabriel Fernández left Boca for Obras.
-Bruno Lábaque will leave Atenas to play in a Buenos Aires club (possibly Obras), for family reasons.
-Regatas brought back two of their 2008 Liga Sudamericana champions: Agustín Carabajal and Juan Manuel Rivero.
