As a fan of the ''god of war'' ARIS i will start with the biggest campaings that took place from ARIS fans in all over the Europe and in our country Greece...

http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/9476/finalfour1989monaxo3rc7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/2573/finalfour1990saragosa2hs8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Impressive, but I would not call these type of campaigns the "best" :) What is there good in a huge crowd throwing disgusting things on their rivals' heads and leaving them bleeding after the match? As Jonas Kazlauskas put it in LT press "that's the dark side of Geek basketball and one day they will pay a huge price for the behavior of their fans".
Come to LT to see a huge, cheering, but not aggressive crowd.
Civilis, don't quote those huge pictures. :P

You can say whatever you want but Lithuanian fans, compared to greeks, look like clowns. I guess it's not a typical "Lithuanian" opinion. ;-)
Anyway it would be nice to see more of those pictures with comments, it is a pity that I don't have anything to share with you.

You must be kidding...
These are just papers...!!!
Kazlauskas said what he said after the game pao-olympiakos in oaka and said it for the fans of pao because they had pistols of flare that were sooting on hes players and they were throwing all kind of things on their heds like chairs, rocks and other...Offcourse the same things had happend and in Eirinis kai filias the previus game and for that reason he said that for the Greek Basketball and offcourse he was right!
And think that all these happend without any reason while their team was winning!!
But my friend these things dont happen in Alexandrio or enywhere else from ARIS fans...
Unless the papers for you has the same importance with the flares and the rocks...
Also i have to say that whichever, player, coach or fan comes to Alexandreio always deify our croud even if our team lose. This has happend million of times. And will happen again and again.Everyone that comes to Alexandreio sais that its the best atmosfaire that they had ever lived and that is the way that all the fans must support their teams...
However...i hope we draw with your favorite team so you can see and with your own eyes that our hospitality is perfect and the only thing we care is how to help our team win but only from our rows and in sport lines.
But we have divagated from our subject...

Ok, I won't :D

That depends on your definition of the "fan" concept. E.g. I don't think that pretty well behaving and cheerful Irish or Dutch football fans are "clowns" compared with English "fans" (who come from certain layers of society and have identity/psichological problems). I do not mean to say that Greek basketball fans = English football fans, but that's the closest you can get in European basketball, and not an example to follow. Sorry if that's not some "typical" Lithuanian opinion (which I don't care about).

Sorry for generalizing the Pao-Oly thing on Aris :) Maybe this is really not the case in Thesalonniki, and I really wish so. As long as there no hard things on court, the fans are wonderful in creating this kind of atmosphere!

With all respect to Lithuanian fans, but you should see a Euroleague derby with a crowded Greek arena.
Rember the games PAO-TAU, PAO-Benetton, Olympiakos-Efes or Aris-Dynamo?
I remember some NBA scouts who went to the game of PAO against Benetton. They said they had never seen a fantastic atmosphere like that in the world of basketball. They were simply shocked with amazement.
Unfortunatelly some games are ruined by a few rotten apples who call themselves fans and Kazlauskas is right to make such a comment.
Aris fans are great BTW. You won't see this things at their arena.

You do if you are an Athens or Pireus team.

well, you see if you're Turkish team. Remember Torino? Aris was banned from European cups for how many years?
Ok, guys, I don't want to start a polemic. But I've never liked the crowds directed by organized fans, as you say, campaigns. They're always prone to such actions. We also have many of them in Turkey, and I guess you will see them this year in Ülker-Fenerbahçe's games. If you happen to read Turkish forum, I say these are the sick-side of Turkish sports. (anywhere I write this, they instantly declare me as the state of enemy, sure I've gained more now :D)
I would always prefer Spanish or French crowds. and they're making more impact on the game than you would think. The teams with those huge amount of organized fanatics may seem more succesful esp. when playing in their home ground, but it's mostly beacuse the opponents are in fear of their health. Anytime an angry fan may throw a coin, bottle or even a chair. Sorry, but it's not bball then.

so many topics raised in this thread... Better i won't comment on anything. But i remember one time when aris' FOOTBALL fans tied up and burned a dalmatian dog beacause it had the colors of their eternal enemy PAOK

Tel Aviv 1994, 1.500 fans:
Israeli newspapers, right after our lost semi-final were writing "It's worth coming to Yad Eliyahu for the small final, just to see these crazy fans of Panathinaikos!".On Sunday, our fans didn't stop shouting from the start of the small final until after the end of the big final. After our passing from the city, a Panathinaikos' fan club by some Israelis was made.
