The participation of the Philippines' Cebu City collegiate all-stars is under the auspices of the obsolete Chinese-controlled Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) under Chinese citizen Graham C. Lim and politician Prospero Pichay.
When the BAP was the basketball body in the Philippines, they would regularly send entries to this tournament, usually teams handled by their favorite coach Johny Tam.
I believe the organizers of this tournament sent the invitation to the BAP and not to the legitimate basketball body, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) under Manuel V. Pangilinan.

Servinio, my name is Luis Turcios and I was the head coach for the American Fukienese team that won the cup in 2007. I developed a good relationship with coach Bo Perason from Air21 express but I lost his contact information. I will post up my email address and see if anybody can give it to him or email me his information. My email address is normanscoach@aol.com. or lsturcios@yahoo.com. I just finished coaching in Mexico
Thank you in advance.

Congratulations to the Hong Kong National Team in it's domination of the competition. They beat a selection of college players from the Philippine province of Cebu. Based on the report of our countryman, erektus, who's based in Hong Kong, this tournament showed Hong Kong's team has improved a lot. They really showed they adapted quite well to the South Korean style of basketball. The Hong Kong team showed a lot of patience, they shoot when there's only 8 secs left in the shot clock and more often than not, it's an open three pointer. HK had a tenacious and highly physical defense which is a mesmerizing switching defense that left no opening. Hong Kong had beaten their opponents in the tournament by an average of 30+ points on this formula: Three point shooting and hard-nosed defense. He also said that HK has almost a brand-new team, having recruited some talented youth from their Nike Summer Leagues. Gone are their stiff, robotic veterans -- replaced by athletic And1 wannabes and savvier ballhandlers. But their style of play remains mainly drive-kick-and-shoot as directed by their coach.
Am expecting the Hong Kong team to climb the FIBA ranking ladder in the near future.

I believe Hongkong is not part of South East Asia, but part of East Asia, where China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan is grouped.

Feifei, that's my question? since we know there is a migration of "some" mainlanders to Hong Kong after the reunification. How is the Citizenship laws? From what I understand, Even though Hong Kong is a autonomous special administrative region, HongKongers are now considered Chinese Citizens. Do you have any idea if they consider settlers from the mainland as naturalized citizens ..... but that is sketchy since it is the Hongkongers that's actually integrating to the Mainland China society. Am confused
I've seen actually a big change in demography when I was in Hong Kong before and after the 1997 British handover. There is now a really large number of people in Hong Kong that are Mandarin speaking when before people there are predominantly Cantonese.

We can not get many news about HongKong's basketball in mainland.
Because I had saw many veterans in HongKong team in the game vs Fujian Club of CBA and Tai pi Club of SBL .
And now thay beat your strong and big university star team .It's a good job.
So I just curious how many young players thay recruited and how did thay play.
Yes there are many mainland players as naturalized citizens of Hongkong in many kinds of sports. like ping pang, badminton and so on, but not in basketball.
I'm sure there is not mainland players in the HongKong team beat philippines .
Why ?
Maby because there is not any basketball league in hongkong.
And all the players in Hongkong team are amateurish players.
