couple of interesting scores today.
team GB despite the cuts in their budget still managed to beat Serbia.
Belarus destroyed Czech Republic and Spain is currently doing the same to Russia..
probably the weakest Russian team in last 10 years..
as far as I have been following women basketball team Spain were always Russian bitches.. payback time..
anyway, it was interesting to see that at Croatia - Lithuania game hall was nicely crowded. and I see now that apparently there was more then 4000 people at the game..
a lot of people has attended other games as well..

Changes so far.
New president(long overdue,Klioklys was in charge for too long, taking it over from Marciulionis in 2003 ).
4 round system ,with teams participating in Europe allowed to play in just 2.
Minimum team budget rises to 800k litas, from 600k.
Mazeikiai denied the place in LKL as NKL winners due to lack of suitable arena.Bullshit,if you ask me.They have plans as in rebuilding old,and building new one.Kills the spirit of winning NKL.

License system for the teams in order to participate in tournament - another bullshit, since Zalgiris would never pass it,and yet...
Sakalai should apparently not get the license for the same reason, but they can not be evicted from the league, unless all teams vote for it.Limbo again.
Palanga back to NKL.
I think the biggest problems aren't addressed at all.
1.Lack of games and 2.lack of money.

1.The bottom teams should have more games,no matter what, especially if they fail to make top 8.
Season finishing in march is just stupid - make them have tournament after they fail to make a cut to top 8.
Top teams should have enough games too, especially afterif they finish early in Europe, and that is the way we are heading.
2.If Zalgiris is 20m in debt, you cant take it on Sakalai with 2m debt and just remove them.
Fine,players are playing for free?
If they want to,why not.
My wish - that LT BB federation created the team to play in LKL,maybe with minimal contracts, maybe playing all the games away, and maybe doing something good with all the money they have.
edit-
Another, and maybe stupid idea is,that teams could have federation sponsored young players on LKL teams, with guaranteed playing time, even as little as 10 minutes per game in regular season.Or to get young players on scholarships in NKL,like adding to salaries.
All this could be achieved at very low cost compared to our
Nt team camps and budget.

2013 Class of FIBA Hall of Fame: profile of Jean-Jacques Conceicao (ANG)

MIES (FIBA Hall of Fame) - On Monday 27 May, FIBA announced the 2013 Class of Inductees of the FIBA Hall of Fame. Over the next three weeks (weekdays from 28 May to 12 June), we will profile all 12 of the inductees. We begin with a look at Angola's Jean-Jacques Conceicao.

Angola has a rich history in international basketball and much of that is owed to Jean-Jacques Conceicao, the 2.00m power forward who dominated for Africa's most successful national team.

He is a member of the 2013 FIBA Hall of Fame class.

For anyone who watched him play at FIBA World Championships in 1986, 1990 and 1994, or at the 1992 Olympics, when Angola were the first opponents of the United States 'Dream Team', there is universal agreement that Jean-Jacques had a giant presence on the court.

Born in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, in 1964, he shot to fame in the sport as a member of Angolan powerhouse Primeiro de Agosto in Luanda where he played from 1982 to 1988.

For the remainder of his career, which lasted until 2003, Conceicao played in Europe and enjoyed most of his success in Portugal.

From 1988 to 1996, he shone for Benfica in Lisbon, winning seven national league titles, six league cups, five Portuguese Cups and four Portuguese SuperCups.

After spells with Limoges in France and Unicaja Malaga in Spain, he returned to Lisbon to play for Portugal Telecom from 2000 to 2003 and captured three league crowns, two cups and a SuperCup.

He was best known for his performances with Angola, whom he led to seven Afrobasket titles from 1992 to 2003.

After being the top scorer at the 1986 and 1990 FIBA World Championships for Angola, Conceicao showed up at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and led his national side with an average 17.7 points per contest.

Two of his memorable performances at that Olympics were against hosts Spain, when he had 22 points and eight rebounds in an 83-63 Angola victory, and in a defeat in the next game against a star-laden Croatia when he had 24 points and seven boards.

He is revered not only in Angola, but on the African continent.

As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of FIBA Africa in 2011, he was named Africa's Most Valuable Basketball Player.

Rosales has been working out with the likes of the Sacramento Kings and Brooklyn Nets. I'm excited to chat with him.

The plan is to have him visit this thread next week and answer questions from members of this forum. So go ahead and post some questions - one question per post please, so Kris can select which questions he answers.
