Default Summer Signings and Rumours Thread vol. III

The previous thread already contained too many pages, so discussion may continue here.

Guidelines to follow (props to JPF):

1. keep it clean and polite
2. try to stay away from one lined posts (and "source?", "link?", etc)
3. use edit button, instead of posting 3 messages in 2 minutes
4. read at least some posts before posting your news
5. this thread isn't and never was for euroleague and UC rumours only, but try not to report every single transfer that happened - instead try to judge on which one could be interesting for others.

There is a funny article in greek web sites that...hold it, don't laugh immediately...

Dirk Nowitzki said that at the final stages of his carrier he will return to Europe and he wants to play for Panathinaikos cause he considers Pana the greatest team in Europe

being on the Cycling Tour de France this week, i am less present here so I am not sure if all this has already been posted.

Amara Sy will leave ASVEL at 90% according to the player himself in the French press.

Ryvon Coville signed a 1 year extension with French Euroleague team EO45 Orléans

Hyères-Toulon signed US player Thomas Terrel from UB La Palma

Poitiers extended the contracts of Kenny Younger, Rasheed Wright and Lamine Kanté

Isn't so funny. In Germany from time to time we got newspaper articles and Interviews with Nowitzki stating that he considers playing in Europe after 2011... and well, he needs to win some kind of championship as he won't be able to win the NBA title with the Mavs. But usually his statements are extremely vage.

Where's Sy going to play?
I like him, I think he has some nice EL potential. Anyway, ASVEL will land a good player instead, so I'm not worried. Keep counting on Tony (Parker, that time )

Sometimes I have the impression that Greeks love & respect Nowitzki more than Germans do. This is caused by the lack of interest in Basketball in Germany.

I remember some very nice scenes which show how much Greeks respect & admire Nowitzki as a basketball player and because of his attitude towards his national team.

2.30 minutes before the end of the final of EC 2005, Bauermann took the decision to bench Nowitzki, because of the fact that the outcome of the game was already clear. The whole crowd in the Belgrad arena which were almost all Greeks stood up and gave Dirk standing ovations.

I remember also the delight that Greeks expressed when Germany qualified for the Olympics at the Preolympic tournament. The greek state television had interviews with both Dirk and his father and the greek reporter showed a lot of sympathy for accomplishing his dream which was the participation at the Olympics.

So maybe this love-bombing will pay off at the end. However in this article it was stated the Panathinaikos officials and Nowitzki met in Mykonos allthough in an interview in a German newspaper it was mentioned that he passed his vacation in Crete.

This article reminds me of gossip magazines and how they spotted a celebrity there(anywhere) dropping ice cream on their t-shirt or whatnot.. seems like bs..

better if Popovic will be first choice, i don't like I.Milosevic(his statistic in last year Euroleague was absoulute tragedy - 5 game 3 average minutes - 0 points, i don't know that L.Rytas and Kurtinaitis saw in him...

Kristaps Valters now closer to DKV Joventut, while Armands Šķēle has offer from Estudiantes. Šķēle hasn't decided because now his agents are also talking with one of Spain's Top6 club.

According to NtvSpor tv, Barca offered 5.8m Euros for 2 years to Ilyasova, but he preferred NBA for much less money (around 1m USD/year).
