Default Andrey Vorontsevich

Hi! I’m Corey and I’m new to the forum.

What’s going on with Andrey Vorontsevich of CSKA? He hasn’t been listed on the roster of the last few games. Why? Is he injured? I haven’t seen anything addressed on the CSKA site explaining his absence.

In case I confused anyone, here's a link to CSKA's info page about him. http://www.cskabasket.com/team/?a=pl...son=55&lang=en

Hmmm...nothing huh? How about any guesses? He's so cute -- I'd hate to think anything bad happened to him. He doesn't get to play much, does he? But why wouldn't he even be listed on the game roster?

Hi CDM, try asking Fripp_Moe (he's Russian), he might know something about Vorontsevich

The forum won't let me send him a PM because I only have 4 posts in the forum--I tried. But thank you for the suggestion. (Maybe Fripp_Moe is glad I can't sent PMs yet. )

OK- on Feb 13th, I found this on the CSKA site: "Forvard Andrey vorontsevich continues to be ill" (Babelfish translation-misspellings and all). He's ill - so sad. http://www.cskabasket.com/news/?a=news&id=3946

On Feb 20th, this was posted: "In the evening occupation also participated forvard Andrey vorontsevich. However, thus far he is trained according to the individual program." (Babelfish Again) http://www.cskabasket.com/news/?a=news&id=3963

He hasn't been in games for about the last month, right? What kind of illness is it this poor guy has? I work in a medical clinic and asked a few co-workers (in the billing office -- not doctors or nurses) their thought about what he has and both suggested Mono! (I didn't mention to them that he is adorable and I am obsessed with him--I once showed them a photo of Roberto Dueñas and this is who they think I'm talking about. They think I'm just a hardcore basketball freak and don't think any of the players are hot! Which, I do LOVE basketball--the hot guys are just a bonus!)

Anyone have any other guesses? Other than Mono I mean. Or know where I can get a more accurate diagnosis?

Or when babelfish translated, would injury have been more accurate or is he really sick?

Maybe what I need to do is just post more and then I can contact the imfamous Fripp_Moe --- I'm starting to think of his as Yoda--like the 'knower of all' or something.

And I don't understand why I don't post more--I mean, I'm a chatterbox at work--usually get into trouble for talking so much.

And I only need like 5 more posts.....hmmmm... I'm trying to think.

And while we're on the subject of Andrey, anyone have any really cute pictures of him they'd like to post? There don't seem to be that many of him on the net.

We can rest easy now—Andrey is back. If it wasn’t for him, we’d have only won by 38 points instead of 40! I’m not making fun of him---I’m just glad he’s back.

And thanks, Kidala! I think I’ve upset Mr. Moe with my questions…(and I think he’s a Gary Payton fan anyway -- and I’m SO not -- and I’m sure that didn’t help my case any). So I’ll send my questions to you.

Kiev!!!! Why? Is that good or bad? Is that like the D League? It's so sad--I feel like he's been banished or something. At least he gets away from those hideous uniforms! I didn't find a website for them. Anyone know what it is?

Well, it's better than Togliatti where he started season but worse than CSKA of course I'll post links for Ukrainian basket here soon (cause busy atm )

What for Anagonie(Dfenders)? Can we expect strong game from him here?

I found the site for the Kiev (who knew it was spelled with a y?). The uniforms there aren’t much better, are they?

The site says "BC Kyiv have inked guard Vasiliy Zavoruev to a one-month contract with an option of extending it for the remainder of the Superleague season." That was dated 01/02/07, and being Europe, I’m betting that’s 1st Feb (not Jan 2nd). So his month is almost over. But I see nothing that says the contract is being extended.

And I don’t understand the whole “loan” thing at all. ??? From the CSKA site: “According to the contract term, the player would spend the first season (or probably, two) on loan in some other club and then would be back to CSKA.” If his (3-year) contract is with CSKA, why is he being traded or having to sign new contracts with other teams? Was it CSKA’s decision to move him?

CDM when a player is loaned it means that he has a contract with a team but is allowed to play for another one. It's somewhat similar to what happens with NBA teams having players in the D-League, except a loaned player in Europe cannot be recalled whenever the club feels like recalling, unless that's established from the beginning. Therefore the wage of the player is paid by the club with which he has a contract, although the club to which he was loaned might pay a part of it as well.
Trades don't exist in Europe (at least not like in the NBA), either you pay for a player to have him in your team or you make a loan for him.
