Banks completes Zain's imports list - Dec 18, 2009 (by Mohammed Malas)

Zain basketball club welcomed the arrival of the American forward Sean Banks (203-F-85, college: Memphis) last night to complete the list of imports for the team after Kendall Dartez (207-C/F-80, college: Louisville) and Damian Cantrell (200-F-76, college: USF).

Sean Anthony Banks (born January 20, 1985, in New York, New York) is an American professional basketball player formerly of the NBA Development League's Tulsa 66ers 66ers. Banks is a 6'8' forward who played AAU basketball for the Tim Thomas Playaz. He attended the University of Memphis, where he was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2004 after leading his team in scoring. He left Memphis as a Sophomore after becoming academically ineligible.

Banks grew up in Englewood, New Jersey. He is a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey.

Banks was signed by the New Orleans Hornets as an undrafted rookie free agent in the summer of 2005. He was assigned to the Hornets' NBDL affiliate Tulsa 66ers. On January 5, 2006 he was waived by the Hornets and thus released by the 66ers. After being waived Banks spent time playing professional basketball in Puerto Rico as well as other D-League teams. Banks played for the Los Angeles D-Fenders, another NBDL team. While playing on the Los Angeles D-Fenders Sean has received honors by participating in the D-League All-Star Game 08' (Scoring 14pts) in New Orleans and being named to the All D-League First Team (07-08), He played most recently with Darussafaka C.Tires Istanbul where he played with them 30 games making 13.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg & 2.0 apg.

He was invited to play with the Toronto Raptors' summer league team in 2009, and was named to the 11-man roster.

Meanwhile, Zain is so close to finalize a deal with a US-basked Jordanian 6'9 center in the next few days adding to the expected deal with a head coach very soon...

That's very sad to hear . Since ASU & Zain make up the Jordanian NT i'm assuming that the best way they can prepare for the World Championship is by playing in as many international tournaments that they can as possible cuz they will not gain much from playing in the Jordanian League.

Yes but I heard Aramex and Orthodox are able to bring imports. I guess they should try to participate in every tournament as Khalid said because Zain and ASU have most of the NT players and they should really be prepared, training and playing against teams with no imports is not very productive, they need to play against higher levels.

This is really bad if they concentrate on the NT this year and just forget about the league, what kind of improvement would players that are not from the NT have?and when NT players' level is down who would be able to replace them!!! They should really find a better solution for that issue, it's just like a suicide!!!

Exactly! This will create a gap between the 12 players on the NT and all the other players and will definitely negatively affect the development of bball in Jordan on the long run.
I think the Jordanian league is suffering a bit of what we went through in terms of financial issues and having the league being dominated by 1 or 2 teams but their issue in on a much higher and critical level than us.
