Thanks Spider for the links.
I hope our team will acheive the goal desired, you cannot divide the men's basketball from the women's basketball, its one package.
Good luck for them to make us proud!

--------------------------------------------------------------

on the other hand,i really blame the federation and Mr.kakhia personally for the poor preparations and the lack of camps for the women and the U16 team, too bad they didnt have any camp outside Lebanon

Tomorrow Fiba Lebanese Referee Nazir Al Saoudi is going to officiate a game at level A in Asian championship for Women in India as the first referee. By the way the Assh*** Ravshan Ganiev that called the foul on Rony Fahed is in the same game but our Lebanese Referee is the 1st referee. Good to Mr Nazir and I wish the shot clock would fall over Ravshan's head to make a 3 big points in it so he can remember his action for ever.

Lebanon open win count in Chennai - Sep 17, 2009 (by Eurobasket News)
Lebanon - Uzbekistan 83:68

Lebanon earned the opening win at the Asian Championship for Women in Chinnai. They prevailed against Uzbekistan in Level II game. Nasr Chada (83) exploded with 23 points to pace the winners.
Uzbekistan turn out a hard nut to crack. The team led in the early minutes before Lebanon used a 10:2 run to clear off. Nasr Chada and Nayla Alameddine gave Lebanon a 26:19 lead after ten minutes. Nasr Chada extended the gap at 9 points but Uzbekistan refused to surrender. Irina Polunina (79) and Yuliya Tatarinova (87) helped their team to cut the distance to a single point 40:41 at halftime. The third frame became decisive. Nasr Chada fired 12 points in it to pilot Lebanon to a 14-point buffer with ten minutes to go. The distance proved too deep to overcome for Uzbekistan and Lebanon celebrated the initial win at the tournament.
Chantelle Anderson (199-C-81, college: Vanderbilt) contributed 19 points and 8 rebounds for Lebanon. Nisrin Dandan (172-G-77) had 15 points for the winners. Irina Polunina accounted for 21 points in the loss. Yuliya Tatarinova produced 11 points for Uzbekistan.

Lebanon: Nasr Chada 23, Chantelle Anderson 19, Nisrin Dandan 15
Uzbekistan: Irina Polunina 21, Yuliya Tatarinova 11

CHENNAI (23rd FIBA Asia Women Championship) - Naturalization of women players in Asia is not common.

American Chantelle Anderson – naturalized by Lebanon a couple of weeks ago – belongs to that rare group.

The 28-year-old justified her induction in style, using her 199-cm presence to leave a tall – literally – impression on Lebanon’s opening game Level II win against Uzbekistan in offense (19 points) as well as in defense (six defensive rebounds in a total of eight for the game).

The former WNBA player spoke exclusively to chennai2009.fibaasia.net after the game.

FIBA Asia: What is the main reason for you choosing to play for Lebanon?

Anderson: This was just a great opportunity to play for an up and coming country in basketball.

And the Lebanese basketball community is very active, passionate and intense.

I really like how motivated they are to up their level of Lebanese women’s basketball. It’s a great thing to be a part of.

This is a great team, great girls. Very fun. I am just having a good time.

FIBA Asia: The Lebanese men’s team has had great results in the last couple of years…
Anderson: I know the Lebanese men’s team is getting better. We would like to further the Lebanese women’s team to emulate them.

We would like the women’s team to continue to grow as a team, as an organization, as a program and as a country.

FIBA Asia: Given the vastly experienced background that you have, what is the singularly impressive aspect that you would point out in this team?

Anderson: They have great heart. They fight till the end. They never give up.

You know, we have a relatively smaller team – height wise. But this team never gives up and keeps fighting.

They just love each other on the court and play for each other. And that’s fun to be a part of.

FIBA Asia: What is that one singular thing where you would like them to improve?

Anderson: Well. This is actually not about the team, but something which is not necessarily in their control.

Any program starting out will go through some growing pangs.

It’s basically that these girls need to continue to play at a higher level more often.

There’s nothing they can do right now. It’s just a matter of time and continuing to play at this level.

Playing this FIBA Asia (Women) Championship is an awesome move in that direction.

FIBA Asia: Personally, what are you looking for personally?

Anderson: My basketball career has been through a lot of ups and downs.

And I just want it to be on a high-note right now.

I’m having a great time with this team, this organization and this country.

My personal goal here is to play at as high as a level as I can and be a good example.

I want to be someone who my teammates can count on when push comes to shove. That’s the most important thing for me – to be somebody my teammates like playing with.

Tomorrow's game is at 6.30 am (beirut time) vs Malaysia.
Very important to win this one, although Malaysia lost today to Rp but still they are more experienced than us in this stage.
Good luck for our team!

Hi dani do you know which game will be the toughest for Lebanon ...
against philippine or kazakistan...
and do we have a chance to win all games??

* i think that kazakistan will be the toughest and we must win matches against syrilanka, malaysia and philippine and face either india or thailand in the 2nd round, win, and go to level 1 ... ???
