Taiwanese beat the Philippines in the Jones Cup.

The Philippines will beat Chinese Taipei big time. Yeah they almost beat Iran but that Iran team was not the Iran team who won 2007. With the kind of defense the Philippines is playing, CT will not be able to do what it did in Jones Cup. In fact i see a 20-30 point blowout for RP. First time I make a prediction in the IBN forum.CT will be limited to 40-50 points.

Both teams will carry over a record of 1-1 going into the extended elims stage. Taiwan started off with a loss against Iran but a statement and morale-boosting defeat nonetheless after indulging the Iranians to a close affair. With confidence, the Taiwanese followed it up with two blowout wins over Kuwait and Uzbekistan. For the Philippines, they handled Sri Lanka, expectedly in their first outing. RP then defeated Japan before losing big to South Korea in their final game.
With Iran and Korea as the favorites in Group E, the Philippines and Chinese-Taipei are expected to slug it out for the 3rd and 4th spots in the said group. Unless of course one of Korea or Iran gets upset in this round; that, or if Japan or Kuwait manage some big wins to get out of the 0-2 hole.
Taipei is looking to prove, especially after the Iran loss that they belong to the second-tier of teams that will competitive for a long time. The Philippines meanwhile are still seething from previous tournaments disappointing finishes and are looking to finally get a decent finish in this year's edition.

I haven't seen Taiwan play in Tianjin, all I know is they have their starting big men already unlike their recent Jones Cup line-up wherein their big men were not present. It would be a competetive game, I hope RP has the upper hand, I wish Japeth is available for the game. We really need a shot blocker inside the paint.
It's ironic to see limited efforts from players with maximum salary.
I wish they would apply "sabermetrics" in those financially challenged PBA teams to acquire players who are value for their money.

The sixteen (16) participating teams will be divided into four (4) groups of four (4) teams each. Each team will play all the other teams in its own group. The teams placed 1st – 3rd in each group will qualify for the Eighth Finals Round.
The twelve (12) teams qualified from the Preliminary Round will be divided into two (2) groups of six (6) teams each. Each team will play the three (3) new teams in its own group (the final scores of all games played in the Preliminary Round are valid for this round). The teams placed 1st - 4th in each group will qualify for the Quarter-Finals for 1st - 8th place.

Yes, basically you only get the results of the teams that advanced with you to the next group.
So the Philippines win vs. Sri Lanka is nothing now. They only get the win vs. Japan and the loss vs. Korea

he might and he might not. but they (the news articles and even Miko Halili) said that Japeth was out due to a "minor" injury. well if its worse than that, it could jeopardize his PBA stint, he might be the Greg Oden of PBA.drafted paid and not utilized due to injuries. anyways, both Japan and Korea games are crucial, it really bothers me and I am concerened about the reported sprained knee of Japeth, it's the common injuries of people who eventually had torn ACL.

Because I live in UAE and justin.tv is forcing people to pay and TeamPilipinas.info is just a link to JTV, Sorry to go off topic but I hope you guys can help, To stay on topic this is a 50-50 shot Taipei has proven dangerous in this tournament but I won't doubt the strenght of the RP team.
I could not still get my usual trust to this bunch of young nationals going into the quaterfinals. I saw quite a decent defense against Korea, but their freethrow, fieldgoal, three point shooting in particular, was unacceptably poor. Add-up to that were a series of turnover and lousy plays. The Koreans were partially controlled until the first part of last quarter. I think we need to improve on our three point shooting to win against the Taiwanese.
i doubt Aguilar is really injured cause not even a single ice, cas, strap, bandage or brace on his knees. and his in uniform and his not even skimping while walking.
