Enes Kanter will not be able to play in NCAA if NCAA will not change it's rules. Enes played professional level basketball at Fenerbahçe and he was getting a salary ( not support money ) from Fenerbahçe ülker. This is the truth unfornately because of his stupid personal manager ( tolga ) he went to USA where Tanjeviç was planning to use him as starting PF in Euroleague last year. Very wrong move from Enes imo. He should have played in Europe and matured his game before heading to USA. FYI : Fenerbahçe Ülker is ready to supply all payment proof to NCAA

Enes did the right thing, but Fenerbahce is playing the sore loser again. Shame.

Most rubbish article i've ever read on ESPN. Just to explain couple things :

Fenerbahçe is Turkey's biggest sport club related economic wise.
Ülker is Europe's biggest chocolate firms out there.

Both firms shares are sold on Turkish stock exchange therefor both firms have to be investigated by third party companies all the time.

It is the same situation for banks and Fenerbahçe pays salary for their players directly via bank transfer.

Therefor it is not possible to cheat on papers like that.

As a FB fan, i gotta admit that Fenerbahce is acting rather stupid/pathetic in this case. They should have let the kid chose his path and play freely but instead they are putting a spoke in his wheel. The best place for him to develop his game is NCAA and then NBA for sure, not Turkey nor Europe. Anyway, i hope he will get permission to play in NCAA and then will get an eary draft, probably in top 10, if not 5.

That boy was born in Switzerland and frankly, i don't think swiss would fake birth papers. All those talks about his age are hoax but nothing else.

So, asuming he's not allowed to play in the NCAA is there any indication if he'd join Fener? or play somewhere else in Europe, China, Philippinnes?

Kanter has been ruled ineligible to play in the NCAA after receiving payments more than allowed.

    Kentucky will appeal the decision.

Default Enes Kanter ruled permanently ineligible

    Enes Kanter ruled ineligible

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The NCAA ruled Kentucky freshman center Enes Kanter permanently ineligible to play for the Wildcats, though the school will appeal the decision.

The NCAA student-athlete reinstatement staff decided the 6-foot-11 Kanter received benefits above his actual and necessary expenses while playing for a club basketball team in Turkey. The NCAA defines actual and necessary expenses as those directly necessary for practice and competition on a team.

    Decision changes Kentucky's season

Enes Kanter bucked the trend of European prospects forgoing college, and after Kentucky's failed gamble he most likely won't be a trendsetter, Andy Katz

The NCAA's ruling is correct, but fundamentally flawed since it deprives Enes Kanter a chance at a college education, Jay Bilas writes. Blog Insider

The NCAA ruled Kanter received over $33,000 above his necessary expenses for the 2008-09 season.

"Enes took advantage of an opportunity to play at the highest level available to him, but the consequences of receiving payments above his actual expenses is not compatible with the collegiate model of sports that our members have developed," said Kevin Lennon, NCAA vice president of academic and membership affairs.

Kentucky coach John Calipari had no immediate comment, but has stated repeatedly he believed Kanter maintained his amateur status. Kentucky athletic director Mitch Barnhart said the school will appeal because of the "uniqueness" surrounding Kanter's situation.

"It is our hope that he will be allowed to continue his academic and athletic career at Kentucky," Barnhart said.

NCAA student-athlete reinstatement guidelines allow Kanter to resume practicing but not compete or travel with the team while the appeal is pending.

Kanter spent last season at Stoneridge Prepatory School in Simi Valley, Calif., before signing with Kentucky, where he was expected to fill a major hole in the middle left by DeMarcus Cousins' departure for the NBA. Now that job will fall to senior Josh Harrelson, junior college transfer Eloy Vargas and freshman forward Terrence Jones.

The Wildcats (No. 10 ESPN/USA Today, No. 11 AP) open the season on Friday against East Tennessee State.

Kanter had become a minor celebrity on campus without so much as taking a shot. He was introduced along with the rest of the team during Big Blue Madness, walking through clouds of smoke and donning a black hat like professional wrestler "The Undertaker."

Fans took up a "Free Enes" movement that included T-shirts and signs posted everywhere from Fenway Park to the U.S. Capitol.

As an "expert" on age manipulations, I have never heard of age manipulations that involve birth papers. Unless you can find a copy of his Swiss birth papers, like

    aim low, score high

His age is true. He's irrelevant bcuz he didnt want to play for the NT this year, but even though his management and character super suck, he's undoubtedly the best young player from Europe rite now.

The father of Enes Kanter, Dr, Mehmet Kanter issued the following statement regarding the eligibility status of his son to play for the Kentucky Wildcats in the NCAA next year.

“Enes would do anything to play and help UK, his teammates and fans. In the last two years, one thing me and Enes never discussed was him being pro. He didn’t mention to me about NBA or draft and I guarantee you as a father – if that’s the NCAA's decision Enes will be a sophomore next year in UK.”

The NCAA's decision to rule Kanter permanently ineligible was upheld.

What's next for Kanter? Does he take his chances in the draft, or put in some time in Euroleague, before entering?

I think ACB would be good for him but looks like he will stay in US and prepare for NBAdraft.
