Thread: 4-Nations Tournament with ESP/GBR/LTU/SLO (Seville, Spain)

Default 4-Nations Tournament with ESP/GBR/LTU/SLO (Seville, Spain)

Today starts tournament in Sevilla: Lithuania - Slovenia and Spain- Great Britain.

I think Lithuania will play without Kleiza (?). How about Dragic, B.Udrih, Smodis and Vujacic? I would like to see them all playing.

    The flick from the future...

Udrih and Dragic will play, Vujacic returned to the team and is fit so he should may be get some minutes. Smodis however as far as i understand it didn't travel to Spain with the team and is focusing on rehab.

I hope not! Injured Lithuanian player and Olympiakos is not the best combination, at all...

No he's not injured. I only guess that he might skip the game because of the travelling from Greece to Spain, but hopefully not.

That's good Thanks. Very interesting game even without few players I think.

Udrih will have very limited time on the court if he will be there at all. Domen Lorbek will be absent too!

Saša Vujačić killed Slovenian NT system in offense and in defense with his return. Terrible. Dude is completely lost on court.

Lakovič keeps loosing balls like a kid. I mean its one thing to lose a ball with a bad pass or something, but every game he gets the ball stolen a few times cleanly like he was a kid and its really starting to annoy me.

Lithuania is only having a few problems with Slovenia's high-low game but other then that they are playing ok and very aggressive defense.

Slovenia have amazing roster but on previous competitions they were very inconsistent. I think that NBA-ers will make them more problems than goods...

For example Brezec I watched him several times last season when he was playing for Roma I have some feeling that he cant adapt on eurobasket...

I think some Lithuanian players feel more confident when Jasikevičius is not shouting something all the time, I feel a good and easy atmosphere. Lithuania has better frontcourt even if Smodiš was lacking. We won rebounds dispite the fact that Darjus is out of shape so far and Jankunas wasn't even used. I liked the defence as well, the intensity is good, specially when Jomantas plays at PG. Sure, Liths made too many mistakes and playing a bit inconsistent, but that's not a tragedy for current stage. No idea what to cut from this team. Mažutis is the player that I'm starting to like and I believe he would be usefull. On other hand, Delininkaitis is a solid shooter and I was ready to think that Lukauskis should stay home this time, but he had a great game tonight.

Slovenia didn't surprise me at all. I expected something more from them. So far it seems they will have a hard time to find their chemistry. If not the well known Lithuanian ball handling mistakes, Slovenia could end with -20.

I think everyone should get used to it. That should pretty much be the case against every team we'll play.

Except for the few blackouts in the second half, i enjoyed our game, especially the above average defense and the rebounding. Still lots of work to be done. Imho, coaches should work on playing against agressive defense and full court pressure.

Lots of reserves left as well. Darjus is out of form as S-F has mentioned, just as Jasaitis is. Maciulis and Jankunas can contribute far more and Kleiza barely played a few minutes today.

What worries me a bit is Kleiza's cockyness which sometimes result in primitive decisions, just as we saw today on at least two occasions. Only his ego stands in his way from becoming the new leader of our NT.

I have to say i am not surprised that we lost. Lithuania always has our number. We sucked at rebounding, it seems like nobody was boxing.

It is really starting to seem like i am blaming Lakovic for everything but come on, when he is manning the point everything turns to crap and he can not defend anybody, add to that those stupid TOs and i am really starting to dislike him.
Dragic played awesome, and his defense was stellar, he was just a beast.
Vujačič looked out of place, i hope its because he was gone from the team for so long.
I have to say apart from playing Lakovič for such long stretches at the point Zdovc is doing an OK job as coach.
I really hope Udrih starts playing soon, i want to see what this team is capable of under his leadership.
Oh and i need to mention the refs, i mean they really were terrible for both teams, they just didn't let the guys play, i mean the game lasted for 2 hours FFS, and there was no delays and no OT!

    Question

Aljosa! Cannot agree with you more>!!!!!!!!!!
Jale is a good player no doubt! but not on the "1" position! I'm watching him for years now ...and he's not good enough with the ball handling! - that make his visibility bad and our attack is much much more dangerous with Dragic as "1"! I ope that Sasa develops soon and Beno can be a great help on that field! Wha on the earth must Jale play 30 minutes on tha position?with so many repeatable mistakes every time in years!?

Lakovič is too much predictable to play playmaker. And I agree-his D sucks! Dragić is far better and Beno will play some minutes tonight as he is natural born playmaker!

Jure Zdovc just got ejected from the game against Spain!

    Spanish reffs... lol.

49:45 at HT for Spain. Slovenia was in control for 3/4 of HT, then we tried to push our defense a little bit and reffs started calling some bullshit, Zdovc went bisurk and got ejected.

I want to thank Jure for having the balls to say to the referees what I have wanted to say for two days...

When he walked around the court after being ejected I offered him the seat next to me and he saw the funny side but declined the invitation and even managed a laugh

Though I guess the officials gave him the biggest laugh

I hope to speak to him later - should be interesting
