i think you should be proud of Santiago too and his 5 fouls (all on Scola probably) because he played gahddamn good defense on the Argentinean go-to-guy. By the time Ramos returned, Scola was either too tired or too scared to play defense against Ramos (well, the height advantage did not help) because of foul trouble.

Ramos has shown pretty basic post moves, i do hope to see that he is used in the NBA more. You just can't question height. He has been aggressive all throughout the tournament hopefully he displays this kind of aggressiveness in the NBA as well.

I tell you what, if theres something i hate about pinoys, its that they always say a prospect is gonna be the next Pacquiao.

    First Rey Bautista
    Second Bernabe Concepcion
Third they went with a champion, Nonito Donaire
And now I heard the commentators say that the pinoys have proclaimed Sonsona the next Pacquiao, just because he looks big for the weight.

    Santiago sucks! Kid-ding!

Both Santiago and Ramos have been great in this tournament, but the MVP should be the bench, they have played great in this tournament, barring the first Argentina game, but especially this last two games where our starters had a horrible start.

    Look at that

Even though we played a close one against Argentina, none of our guys played more than 30 minutes. Oh yeah, and our bench was great once again with 29 points.

i did not say that Santiago doesn't suck i just said he played good defense

Yes sir. It's very difficult to convince these kinds of sports fans that Pacquiao is just an entirely different animal. It's more of the media actually so there's public perception that these boxers will be "great" rather than just "good"

But like you, we are spoiled brats in sports as well; generally, Filipino fans won't be satisfied with a Pacquiao decision win (Not saying that this will be the result of the Cotto match ) In the last Donaire fight, the boxer actually was criticized by a lot of critics for not being aggressive and such Which is really kind of sad.

Yeah but the pinoys have proved to me they are loyal to their athletes, at least in basketball.

Ive never seen in my life the Phillippines in a world tournament, but when I look at this forum, it amazes me of all the pinoy fans there are. You guys remind me of the Chicago Cubs who still sell out games even though they havent won a championship in their 109 year old history.

What do you call that? A back-handed compliment? Credited us, then bashed us in the end? WTF??

Kidding, kidding. i understand. It kind of sucks really because we have not been successful with our NT's the past few decades but locally we get real competitive games so in a way our frustrations have other outlets...

And i really believe, pound for pound we are the best fans in the world (Ricans a close #2 )

Good luck against Brazil, i hope you duplicate your previous win--- as it is, i am always cheering for the underdog.

Nitpicking just to nitpick the Cubs have won two titles, they were just in 1907 and 1908.
The Rules learned in the Prediction game.
    1: Brazil is always disappointing
2: Never dismiss Argentina solely because of age.
3: Never bet against Spain in a knockout game, unless it is against the US.

On that note, it's nitpicking time:

In the 1950s-1960s, the Philippines was among the best in the world, producing world-class players like Carlos Loyzaga, Lauro Mumar, Mariano Tolentino and Edgardo Ocampo. Loyzaga was even a part of the 1954 FIBA World Championship Mythical Team selection, where the Philippines won the Bronze medal.
Historically, Philippines > most teams including Puerto Rico (Medal standings says we are ranked at tied 11th for winning the bronze )

Scola is protected like Panda bear Congratulation to Puerto Rico you really deserved final with that sick comeback. Aroyo is fantastic in this tournament same with Ayuso.I think Diaz deserve more minutes. He's a really good player. He made some key baskets last night.

I share your oppinion about this..
why he doesn't play more is beyond me..
he had an oustanding season in Lega basket, he changed the momentum last night with that crucial three pointer and a two pointer late in the game..
if anything he deserves to play more then Rivera and Dalmau if Arroyo and Ayuso are first choices..

heja, heja cibosi, vodite nas k pobjedi. "

some of the people on the forum are allowed to do whatever they want as long as they have guys from upstairs holding their back. way to go interbasket!

    sweet!
Carlos Beltran pres of the Basketball federation of PR some key points:
    1. Miscalculation of Goal average for 2nd WC in a row.
    2. Manolo Cintron is the definition of mediocrity and is trash. He is fired often, and sometimes can't get a job in BSN.
    3. FBPR left some of the players without return tickets out of Turkey. Players found out when they got to the airport. And had to pay their own tickets.
    4. 5 yr ago we were 6th in the world, after the WC we are lucky if 16th.
