Default Group D, Gameday 1: Turkey - Lithuania

It becomes a tradition that Lithuania and Turkey meet each other in the opening games of different tournaments. They met in the very first games in Eurobaskets 2005 and 2007, also at World championships in 2006. Now another tournament starts, and these two teams meet again in the very first match.

The game is scheduled as the last game of the first gameday, but certainly it is not least interesting.

    So, the official information:

    Wroclaw, Hala Ludowa
    September 7th 2009, Monday, 21:15 CET

    TV Broadcasts:
    TV3 in Lithuania
    NTV in Turkey

Lithuania's confidence is at its near peak right now and I can't see how Turkey will defend themselves against that.

Easier than expected win for the Liths, around 9-10 points.

I'm curious to see Javtokas in this game, I don't think Turkey has an equivalent body-type to throw against him.

May be Asik and Erden are fit for it... Anyway, i also expect a win for Lithuania, unless Hidayet and Ersan do something extraordinary. Tanjevic tries to use Guler and Onan together, playing without a pure PG but building a tough backcourt. May be this can damage the rhythm of the Liths, at least i hope so...

It'll be a good match, may be the best one of tomorrow's with Serbia-Spain game...

I expect smth similar like 3 years ago in WC's opening game. Close game and winner decided in the end of it. Hope it'll be Liths, by few points

Liths + 10 and more or Turkey will win it. I hope I'm wrong, but I think Lithuania will have a hard time in last second games.

Somehow we manage to beat Turkey in Eurobaskets, and actually, by a significant margin. I hope this trend continues to take place and Rinktinė will start the European championship with a confident win against Turkey.

There're rumours that in first round there won't be too much of Liths, maybe thousand or little bit more. Most of people skipping it and buyin' tickets to second round or even final stages of the competitions, so the biggest number of fans will be in Katowice (of course if we'll get there), I suppose 3-4k can be there

I spoke to my friend yesterday –apparently there are around 120 people coming from uk to support Lithuania .I do not know if the number is reliable though, but I can comment on his sheer persistence in trying to sign me up for this trip, which he started like back in 2007 to the point I was avoiding him a bit.

Tough game for us. Not much hope when you think soundly but homerism prevails at these moments and I say we will win somehow. Or it's gonna be a blowout loss.

I don't mind how many million Lithuanians will be here, except Adebisi. I hope he can make it here. My tickets are with him .

The main drawback for us is that this game will be away game. Lithuanias like b
basketball too much so they are always more than thir opponents.
We don't have good games in Turkey tournament.I think, The reason is that our players don't want to be injured so we can't show our ambitious. Tanjevic doesn't care prep games. Winning is not important in that games, he only tried the systems and players. so eurobasket will be different. We play more ambitiously and concantrated. We have beat Lithuania while they have more strong squad. They are lack of their important players now.
This games score doesn't connect to Lithuania. Our 3 pt percentage will determine the winner. Hidayet is a big player and I can't see better player than him in Lithuania. He doesn't show off his full performance too and he will play his best now.
I can't guess this match. I only can say if we have %35 3 pt performance, we will win.
    long_term options
*I like the possibility of EFES to reach f4
    *I hate Pao
*don't want Greek loby in IBN
*crazygreen is sympathetic interbasket citizen altough he is from greek loby.accepted Greek loby members:crazygreen,Fedfan,Mysh ArkadiosV2
    *turkish friends:wyopeq,ataman5
    * protest İslamic goverment in Turkey because they force Efes PİLSEN to change its name, I drink more Efes beer after that against goverment.
    short term options
*happy with winning against Pao in last second.

Are you going disguised as a Lithuanian? By the way, watch out when you trust your tickets to people named after criminals
