Default Group C, Day 3: Spain - Slovenia

Game 3. Slovenia displayed great performance against Serbia in day 2, while Spain as expected had no major problems with Great Britain (game not over yet, would be a surprise for ages if GB takes the win).

Should be an interesting game. I again don't know what to expect. Hopefully we will again show such face in defense like we did against Serbs, while it would be foolish to expect Slovenia to be on fire like we were today.

Spain needs the win probably more than Slovenia. We are going into the game without any pressure, Spain is the favourite of the tournament despite their bad performance against Serbs (Serbs played great in that game).

I think Slovenia has the chance if we play good defense and keep the game at low scoring. If Spain goes out of control in offense the game will be over for us...

    Game is at 18:15 CET.

Could we see three teams with 2-1 record?

The best thing is that Smodiš returned. Hopefully his back won't have any problems tomorrow against Spain. He probably won't play much or he won't even play, we'll see how he will be and how the game will go. Slokar could return from injury too.

I will be cheering tomorrow for Slovenja and GB more than I would be cheering for Greece to win.

I didn't expect that. Should be interesting to see how this will effect them for tomorrow. I think Slovenia could be drained after the victory against Serbia while Spain could get fired up after such close and almost shameful performance against Great Britain. This could get messy. We'll see.

Spain will win it, you can't stop Pau, who's getting better every day.

    I can't wait tomorrow!!!

    1. Erazem Lorbek (Barcelona) vs. Pau Gasol (LA Lakers)
    2. Jaka Lakovič (Barcelona) vs. J.C. Navarro (Barcelona)
    3. Gordan Dragič (Phoenix Suns) vs. Ricky Rubio (Barcelona)
    4. Nachbar (Efes Pilsen) vs. Fernandez (P. Trail Blazers)
    5. Smodiš (CSKA) vs. M. Gasol (Memphis)

I see tons of battles. I think everyone will be fully motivated to win the game. Jaka will defenitly want to show Navarro that he is better than him. I also think that for Lorbek and defenitly for Dragič who will want to show Rubio what he is made of. I am not sure what I can expect from our team after todays huge victory (euphoria and such) but my biggest fear are the referees. I can allready see them whistling like hell in favour of Spains...

I'm going to be at school tomorrow, so I won't be able to catch the game.

Anyways, I think this will be the first OT of the tournament. Not going to say who wins though.

I'll have to agree with a comment I read on Slovenian website. I think Zdovc used Smodiš in game against Serbia just to mess with Scariolo in this game. I think Smodiš won't even play in game with Spain. Or he will? That's the question for Scariolo to find out.

LOL Zdovc is diabolical i half-expect him to send Beno in to start the game, just pull him out from the locker room where he was hiding for 3 days

Spain is terrible so far, but I think that Slovenians must belive in their win, psychology is the biggest problem though...

Cool Gooo we can do it

Spain way of their best form. If Slovenia manages to show at least 90% of what they did today Spain will fall for sure. But still a close game expected, winning team will have to score 70pts. I would give it 50-50 if not 55-45 for my country if we take into consideration the boost from the win over Serbia and that we will be entering the game under less presure than Spain. I expect Spain to play better than in first two matches, to be honest they cant play any worse . Predicting scores when playing Spain is always hard, but the excelent defense that Slovenia has been practising in the 13 warm-up matches we had in august and now sucessfully putting to use in 1st two games will show as decisive. At least that is my opinion. Im bettin on a score 70 - 67 for my team and hope to see a good performance from both teams.
