Default Group D, Gameday 3: Bulgaria vs. Lithuania

After a wild and wooly first two days (courtesy of Spain ), i am done predicting results (until the next round)

Sure, the Bulgarians are supposed to be the weaker team versus Lithuania but... this is basketball!

    Who wins?
IF THERE IS NO BASKETBALL IN HEAVEN, I AM NOT GOING.

    Lithuania should win (10-15 points).

But if they walk through the game without any sort of desire, then I could them losing in a close one.

I thought we were going to beat Turkey. We Lost. Then I thought we were going to beat Poland. We Lost again. I think we are going to beat Bulgaria.

EDIT: Not even return to Lithuania, better go to Belarus, I hear its very green at this time of the year.
If Lithuania loses tomorrow the players should walk, on their knees, to Pripyat and spend the rest of their lives there, hidden from civilisation.

Then you gotta be a little bit careful with your predictions my friend But for this one i got your back, i believe if nothing unusual occurs then lithuania comes away with a big win and a lot of confidence especially for your twins and maybe for Kleiza, too.

Well, if the unspoken happens, at least you won't be in pain like in the first two times but rather enjoy it.

Lithuania will win,to spare the Lithuanian citizens of the social stigma and humiliation of an early exit, which could obviously destroy their lives and their chances for happiness in life.
"The worst part is wondering how you’ll find the strength tomorrow to go on doing what you did today and have been doing for much too long, where you’ll find the strength for all that stupid running around, those attempts to escape from crushing necessity, which always founder and serve only to convince you one more time that destiny is implacable, that every night will find you down and out, crushed by the dread of more and more sordid and insecure tomorrows.~Céline

A surprise here would be too much.

But it's also Bulgaria's chance. No matter how terrible the tournament was so far, a single win sends them to second stage. They don't have enough material to make the surprise though.

+20 win by Lithuania i would predict.

Complicated. On paper LT is far better, but it's not like LT isn't better than PL on paper. Haven't seen Bulgaria this year, so it's hard to say. It's our last chance but the same thing applies to BG. Hopefully, we'll see some nice basketball with both parties being very motivated and a happy ending.

    Lithuania +15

Oh trust me, we would find comfort in "witch-hunt"...

We'll either collapse completely or explode finally. I'd say +10 for us. But i hope i'm wrong.

BTW, just a though, let's say we dont get a spot in WC during the champ and we dont get the wildcard. Now we're hosting the next euro champ and that means we've atomatically qualified. Would this then mean that there would be literally no men NT basketball of any kind next year?

In that very unlikely scenario (honestly only Spain would have better odds of getting a wild card), there's always prep tournaments for the World Championships. I'm sure several teams wouldn't mind warming up with Lithuania.

I have another thought here. butautas said he'll leave if we won't make it to WC, but if we'll get wildcard, he'll stay?

I'm not sure I want this to win. That would give Butautas another chance to show his "game plan", "tactics" or whatever bullshit that he calls basketball. I completely lost any respect for this coach, really. Sireika in 2006 did a better job with weaker team, though the game style was horrible. Now what we saw this time is real nightmare. He didn't learn a shit from several games and was really strict with his fucking game plan- it means Mazutis, Javtokas, Brothers and Kleiza are playing most of the time despite the fact that the best players so far were Jasaitis, Petravicius, Maciulis and Delininkaitis looked the best of point guards (Kalnietis is completely wasted). In few words, I want Butautas out of the team. Now, it's out of questions.

If Lithuania loses, Seppuku will be the only way to end their lives honorably

Funny that you still haven't won a single game in Eurobasket and thinking about the WC.

It is now or never for Pini. Can he put the final nail in Butautas' coffin?

Theres no turning back. The coaching staff has only one way to redeem themselves and stay on their posts and it is to bring a medal, I dont care which one. If they somehow manage to do that it'll be a sign that they finally learnt a lesson.

Well, I want the coaching staff to change too, but I don't want us to lose... That's a tricky one.

I like Butautas as a person, but I'm telling you, if he starts Mazutis against Bulgaria as well.. Cheez, he will turn into completely moron to me.
That guy is completely horrible - he doesn't know what a pick&roll is; he doesn't know how to drive (or is scared to do it); he would only shoot, if there would be nobody around in a 5 meters range; he doesn't run plays - the only thing he's awesome in, is giving a ball to a big man in a right and going to hide.
Our "main point guard" has only made 1 assist in 2 games. Incredible..

In comparison, a SF/SG Jomantas, who is forced to play as a PG is averaging 3,5 assist in 10 minutes.

In my opinion, Delininkaitas has to be our main PG, substituted by Jomantas for 10-12 minutes in overall.

Kalnietis is a good player, but he's obviuosly facing inside (family) problems and is not concentrated and confident enough to play on a highest level.

Bulgaria`s defense is terrible, they play zone like highschool team so Lithuania should have field day shooting from 3 point range.
