    Default Maccabi Euroleague Rumor Thread

Since the goyim in the Euroleague Rumor posts don't want to have Maccabi (a Euroleauge team) mentioned in the rumor list, I decided to make one for Maccabi only (which is what many of them suggested). So here it is so we don't bother Europe:

    Please no posts about Panathinaikos...

Ok,no posts about PAO here, but is it ok if we post about Maccabi and we're PAO's fans?
Anyway,I heard that you're close to signing Rodney Buford (1,96 SG/SF 30) who played for us in 02-03..Is it true?
And what's going on with Halperin?Does he really want to leave?I seriously doubt Spahia (and Mizrahi) will let him go..

    Talking

Czarkazem13: I think it was your joke to say in Euroleague forum the people don't talk about Maccabi. If you're supporter of MTA and you want to discuss there our rumors, I'm sure nobody will erase your posts and it will be even interesting for many other fans from all over Europe.
Anyway, it's good idea to have this thread on Israeli section.

I'm sure Spahia will continue to bring us his players from the previous team. Who will put yellow-blue jersey after Jasaitis? Maybe Stelmahers?

I also hope this thread is not only for Yehudim and that I as goya can also participate.

This week I read somewhere in the Israeli on-line media about this. Halperin suppose to say it could happen he plays in Europe but not for Maccabi. He was connected to Blatt. But Mizrahi said "no go". Now I'm waiting for the new stroke of the media.

it seems to me as if halperin is flirtting with some other clubs just inorder to get his "old girlfriend's" attention. obviously maccabi is in some problems atm and spahija already said he might settle for 2 more players and not three - which means either halperin or jasitis will start (unless we'll see a surprise but not signing a 4 and starting arnold or eliahu which i think is highly unlikely). anyway - halperin wants to start so he's (his agent actually) signaling maccabi that some other clubs think he's good enough.
as you know - he has a contract with maccabi and unless a big compenstation is paid i don't see maccabi letting him go (never happens cause he has just one more year left - why shouldn't bentton wait and see how he's doing and than sign him?).

ok, let's asume he stays in Europe.
So I expect he stays in Maccabi, which will offer him a new contract - just because he has one year left - to earn something if/when he really leaves Tel Aviv. I don't believe he is a free agent next July. (you know like in Ožbolt's case.)
If you ask me Benetton cannot wait for him to become free as this will never happen.

Oh, and ... Blatt doesn't need to watch how he is doing - he already knows. Believe me he would take him any time.

    mmm...
don't think he'll renew the contract (that's what ozbolt did - didn't he?). keep in mind you need 2 for tango and even if maccabi wants to renew him he might not want it. just a fast look at jasitis who after one succesful euroleauge season reiceved a big contract and a major role (5-6 player at his first year and might improve) in a big club. i'd say halperin will take his chances as i think his chances for doing a similar thing are there. for maccabi on the other hand - even if halperin states his un-willingness to stay sign a new contract they are in a position they just can't cut him. atm he's the only pg (not realy a pg though) with burstein injured and most of top-level israelis under contract maccabi can't afford cutting him.
Blat - don't know. he might want him but i'm not sure that for a starting role. Blat's (second) season as head coach wasn't the best one for halperin. i don't know how much he appricate halperin and how much the team will be willing (and able) to pay for his buy out.
i just don't see any realistic option for him to leave now - renewing the contract is another story but i do see an option he won't renew it.

Well, you know Maccabi and Israeli mentality better.
All information I have is from the media, I never discussed this with either Halperin or Blatt - the later I've never even met. But I guess that you don't spent much time with somebody you don't respect. Handshaking and five minutes talk would be all. At least for us, Slovenes. But when Olimpija played in Treviso both guys mentioned above spent quite some time more together.

Anyway... let's wait. But I admit I'm jealous on Maccabi. I wish Halperin would keep a word he gave that night when the season finished.

Israeli Sports channel site claimed a couple of days ago there was a substantial progress in the negotiations with the player. BTW the article had a HUGE title for him - "Uncle Sam", where "Sam" in hebrew means drug...

I wasn't saying that people didn't type about Maccabi, it was all the complaints by other EL fans stating that there was too much Maccabi discussions. Other fans started complaining one after another. So I decided Maccabi can have its own little shtetle forum so we humbly don't bother anyone....

    Pija, all are welcome.

So Rodney Bufford will be in Maccabi
Last season he played in Mariupol, not Euroleague team.
We will see if he can play in this level and give benefit to Maccabi.

According to sport.walla.co.il - Maccabi is working on getting back Baston to the team.
