Andrew Bogut (Australia)
David Andersen (Australia)
Kirk Penney (New Zealand)

Who is Oceania's Player of the Decade? For many basketball fans in the Oceania region, many would say that Australia's Andrew Bogut get the nod however, if one deeply analyses all the players that should be nominated a fair few would say that David Andersen should be voted as Oceania's Player of the Decade.
David throughout this decade in Europe as well as having a solid campaigns with the Australian Team. In Europe, Won 2 Italian Cups (2001, 2002),
Won 3 Euroleague Championships (2001, 2006, 2008)
Won 2 Italian Championships (2001, 2004)
Won 2 Triple Crowns (2001, 2006)
Italian League Finals MVP (2004)
Won 3 Russian Cups (2005, 2006, 2007)
All-Euroleague First Team (2005)
Won 4 Russian Championships (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008)
Won 1 Spanish Championship (2009) (Credit goes to Wikipedia)
In addition, he was the more consistent performer compared to Bogut in terms of performance in the national team.
The Big Fella out in Milwaukee definitely has performed excellently throughout the decade, NCAA Player of the Year, at only 19 years of age, was the starting centre for the "Boomers" in the 2004 Athens Olympics, former NBA no. 1 Draft Pick, so far 5 solid years in the NBA.
From New Zealand, we cannot take away the Tall Blacks' and former NBA player Kirk Penny, however, when one compares this Kiwi to the achievements of the other Aussies it's clear that one of the two Aussies would take out this award.

David Anderson all the way! Just compare his trophies with Boguts and Penneys.
Single Euroleague trophy is better than N solid years in NBA.
Andersen has accomplished the most in this decade, proving how valuable of a player he is.

A probable sterotype-answer in this thread; David Andersen
Bogut of course.Had he played in Euroleague he would seem like an hybrid of prime Shaq and Hakeem.
I could imagine Bogut doing quite well if he had played in Europe. The reason being is that his style of play would suit many major European ball clubs. He's got a soft touch around the basket, he is capable of shooting to the three point range (proven by his NT performance), he has a "team-first" mentality and is able to play both back-to-the-basket as well as fronting up to the rim. He wouldn't put up 25ppg & 15rpg stats in Europe but more like 15ppg 8rpg 3apg but his team would be successful. But of course, he's not playing there thus we could only speculate on "what if".

Perhaps, albeit your argument is based on pure and abstact speculation - presumably never to become measured. Andersen has more valuable trophies hanging on his shelf.
Provide Andersen with 30+mpg in the NBA in his 30s and he should have a more than fair chance to reach Bogut average statistical parameters.
Bogut captained the Australian U19's to a world championship which is a pretty big deal as well. The "Emus"
I also believe (need to check this up) that he was the MVP of the tournament.
That's right, "The Bogey Man" was the tournament's MVP.

Those are three fantastic players right there. I'm a big Kirk Penney fan, because he was a real magician in college. He was a Big 10 All American, if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, he has bounced around too much in his professional career and he just can't get traction with a big team.
Andrew Bogut is a pretty good choice. He's such a powerful center. He's a legitimate NBA starter.
But David Anderson has had the best career so far. How many Euroleague Championships did he win? That alone says he's the best Oceanic player for me. He's had some fantastic games for the Rockets this year, and he'd be even better if he could stay in the rotation.
"I really like the attitudes of eagles. They never give up. When they grab a fish or something else, they never let it go. It doesn't matter. In a book, they write they find a skeleton of [an] eagle and there is no fish. It means that the fish beat him and killed him, but he didn't let go." -- Donatas Motiejunas
