Korea's Bae Du-na. Not terribly pretty, but there's always something cute about her (characters). And she's always half-naked.

PS: Korean movies have A LOT OF graphic sex. But, most of them are incredibly depressing, rather than arousing.
she's not but she's a celebrity here, and at the same time very popular.

Harisu? Call me a bigot, but frankly I'm a little scared of transgender people... My cousin went to Burma once and saw a Thailand katoey show and she absolutely freaked out. And she showed me pictures and I freaked out too. I don't discriminate against them but I refrain from watching them.

Ehh.. judging from photos I must say I'd rather watch Harisu. Seriously.

Also I don't get K-pop. In China wondergirls are becoming a sensation. I seriously don't get them. I also listened to SNSD and 2NE1. All too poppy for me, Personally I prefer slower ballads. I know all the J-pop singers you mentioned, though (also those in Japan like BoA & Lee Ayumi).

Hahaha.. Told you it is a must see..>.<

2NE1 is way better than SNSD.. SNSD just has the prettier girls.. boy groups do real music than the girl ones.. J-pop has a certain flavor different from any Asian music.. But K-pop is slightly better IMO..

Not really a Condor Hero fan.. Her beauty is just heavenly.. Her name fits her well..

Actually Thai katoey have "pennaisis" not "punnanis". (shudder...)

Maybe I'm biased but I don't really like "groups" when it comes to Asian music. I think K-pop is mostly about groups, and groups to me are catering more towards crazy teenagers who care more about image (hair style, dresses, dance moves) than actual music... I particularly can't stand those Korean boy bands that rap in English... if I want to hear English rap I'd rather listen to American groups, thank you.

I don't think J-pop is unique because it has historically heavily influenced Chinese pop music. Which is probably why it's easier for me to accept. Although now Koreans are all invading the J-pop scene.

But let's get back to topic...

Yikes! Well i've seen quite alot of them (Thai male students whom i always used to think they're girls) in my university in the UK when I was pursuing my masters.

I used to watch alot of Chinese movies back in the days with my Chinese friends (so i was always asking about their names).
I'm a big fan of Chinese comedy movies especially those starring Zhou Xingchi (absolutely hilarious) "hen hao wan"

As for He Zhouyan, i was once flipping through the channels and CCTV was showing some footage of new actresses whom were on the rise and have potential of becoming big stars and she caught my attention.

Yes CCTV-5 is the sports channel. The 3 are CCTV-4 (Chinese), CCTV-9 (English) and CCTV-Arabic? How good is your Chinese?

How about Japan's Noriko Sakai, quite a story. In general because of history and politics, we Chinese don't like Japanese and vice versa. Sakai was one of the RARE exceptions and by far the favorite Japanese actress for a couple decades in the Chinese world. She was a star in Japan but devoted a lot of time promoting peace and good-will among Asian countries and was always very sincere. She started her career at 15 but still looked stunning at 35+ in this video:

Then, in late 2009, the shocking news broke that she was arrested as a fucked-up drug addict.... everyone's like WTF? But it was true. Before that she was missing for 5 days, and the media went crazy like she was OJ Simpson on the run. Look at the video when she finally resurfaced. I've never seen anyone getting bombarded by cameras like that.... not even close:

For her goodwill towards the Chinese people, many of us continue to support her after the scandal. She was never the most popular inside Japan, but it has been argued that she is the MOST POPULAR WORLDWIDE, and for good reasons.

I think I found them on a site "pinoyunderground.com", good luck I actually downloaded quite some Filipino movies but didn't really remember all or was able to follow due to lack of subtitles .... poor me

You know, Indonesia's Agnes Monica is quite known in East Asia -- as a great singer that is. (As far as acting --- she actually appeared in a Taiwanese drama "The Hospital" but because she cried for like 10 minutes straight, all the viewers freaked out.) I think she's kind of cute though.
