By the way, our roster for next season is almost done and Pappas isnt playing for us next season, he is going to be loaned again even though we have a Greek coach (Katsikaris), maybe to a ACB team, or maybe another season in Greece.

You think he is ready to play in the ACB?
Unlikely, at this stage. Maybe in a couple of seasons. I think it would be better if he played at some LEB team to be honest.

    So... moving on

    Things as they stand

    PG: Diamantidis, Calathes, (Saras?), Verginis
    SG: Nicholas
    SF: Perperoglou, Tepic
    PF: Fotsis, Tsartsaris
    C: Batiste, Shermadini, Bogris

Any new rumours about signings? How many players needed and who specifically do you think should be targeted to fill those gaps?

New Rumors: Maric for Pekovic, Vougioukas for Shermadini, possibly Kamakoglou and a ? player ? for Spanoulis.

Kaimakoglou and Vougioukas are done deals,at least how it seems
nice additions after their good to impressive season they had (especially the second) in their teams.
    they add depth
now after the staying of Nicholas and Batiste its time to bring 2 really good guards and a center( possible Shermadini goes for loaning)

Some sites are reporting that there is a strong interest on bringing in Rudy Fernandez as Spanoulis replacement.

I think it would be a great addition, but i feel that Madrid and Barcelona would be his first options if he decides to return to Europe.

    What do you guys think?

Depends on how much Madrid and Barcelona are willing to spend for him...
If they are willing to give him a 3 mil. net or 3,5 mil. net contract per year i'm sure rudy would not consider even for a second to come to greece.

But are they going to give him that kind of lucrative contract? i think pao will reach such levels to bring him

How much is the contract of navarro btw?

    Navarro's contract is 2,8 mil

I'm not sure about what Madrid can offer but what i am pretty sure is that Barcelona will not cross that 2,8mil.

2,8 net or gross? he gets these 2,8 mil. in his pocket or he pays for taxes out of these 2,8?

in greece teams (basically oly and pao) pay the taxes instead of the players

the 3 mil net will go straight to rudy's pocket, the gross amount will be something like 5,5 mil. euros

is it the same in spain?

same thoughts and be more specific Barca and for many reasons
but PAO seems to offer him a lot of cash in order to surpass the other

Not sure if its net or gross but what i can tell you is that the tax system here in Spain is not as strict as the greek one so Navarro gets around 2,8mil easily

According to TalkBasket.net Rudy admitted that he is in talks with Panathinaikos about a possible signing.

And Sergio Scariolo (Spanish NT coach) said that he want to leave Portland and that PAO has the same chances as RM or Barcelona.

If this is true, and considering than PAO can offer the highest amount of money, i see Rudy quite near of Panathinaikos

some days ago Rudy admit it by saying also i hope the things end well.
Itoudis admitted also that they chasing him
Scariolo added that Rudy told him he wants to return in Europe than staying NBA and since PAO is a huge club he has same chances like Barca and Real.
Its difficult case but PAO do what he have to do.
Its up to Rudy now i think

What is positive is that PAO has connections and the experience in breaking NBA contracts (Skatoulis, Saras).

Add Haislip to that list as well..

PS: So maybe San Antonio would be a good place for Rudy to be traded to..

If PAO sign Sato or Rudy has to bring except from a Center, a guard ( or 2 if Saras stays) which can play both as PG-SG for balance. And it seems that Tepic goes (or at least will spend a lot)next year at the guards.
It was about time in my opinion.

i'd rather be waiving "sklaventitis" bags to schortsanitis for the rest of my life than see him in a shamrock jersey

as it seems you got lucky and you can keep your money from waiving bags
Sofo goes to PAO as it seems
lets hope Obradovic make him really basketball player and not a tank

Even if some of us dont agree with it we have to consider the economical crisis which every greek club suffer cause of the taxes.Sofo worth in Euros is much smaller these days and make him a worth to sign case.
But PAO needs to make a final transfer in the guards.Someone who will have the ability to carry PAO with scoring with good perimeter shooting. And i think its essential with this roster. If you add such a player to open inside defences in order the big s to have an easy job (especially if you add Sofo and you wont make the same OLY error every summer of having him in a team with a mediocre perimeter shooting ability),then you dont need to afraid someone

I doubt we will get Schortsianitis.

We ONLY need a guard who can penetrate the defence and shoot. Someone to replace Spanoulis that is, but with slightly different attributes.

Ideal player is Rudy Fernandez, who is a 2-3 spot player and would instantly make us Euroleague favorites.

Btw, I saw that Shaquille O'Neal has asked European teams to sign him!!! He wants $10m per year
Probably Maric-Batiste-Vougioukas will have a chance at playing against Shaq in the Greek Finals, as I can't see many teams other than olympiakos going for him if he's available to the European market. Perhaps only Turkish teams or desperate Italians like Benetton Treviso or Virtus Bologna who wouldn't mind risking.

I hope we don't get him though, but he'd be fun to have here
