Ovarense strengthened their roster. They brought in Ryan Schneider (201-F-85, college: Marist). The team inked a one-year deal with the 25-year-old forward. Ryan Schndeider spent the previous season in CAB Madeira. He appeared in just nine games because of the serious injury. Ryan Schneider tallied 15.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 2.0 assists per game in those appearances
Back in Ovar is the center Pedro Pinho, Portuguese athlete who represented Ovarense between 2000 and 2005.

Benfica signs Greg Jenkins previously from Deutsche Bank Skyliners.

Anyone knows if he is a good player?

    I hope he's not just a tree...
I think he becomes the tallest ever to play in Portugal, passing Alan Bannister.

I totally blame the federation. Saldanha and his gang are outdated and need to be replaced as soon as possible.

So the league there does not have a good level?
Besides I remember most of the Angolian NT players were previously playing in Portuguese league are they still there?

No, it's a poor league actually and has been degrading over the last few years.
Yes, many Angolan players used to play in Portugal (Guimarães, the legendary Jean-Jacques, etc.), but that situation changed precisely when the league got professional. Angolan players are considered imports and Portuguese clubs prefer to hire American players. Also I believe in Angola players get a better wage than in there, although I'm not sure.

I was searching a bit about the NT and you have a naturalized player: Evans right?
He is 35 years old and plays forward anything about his level?

Yes, he's naturalized. He's old but he's still very good, he played in Angola last season at least and was one of the good players there. He's an excelent rebounder and a consistent scorer too. He won the Portuguese league three times with three different teams.

It happened some days ago, but here it is. Benfica won the first trophy of the season (Super Cup) against rivals Porto:

One Trophy In The Bag Already For Benfica

Veteran forward Sergio Ramos has played in a lot of big games for Portugal and Lisboa e Benfica over the years.

At EuroBasket 2007, he was a part of the Portuguese national team that experienced the highs of upsetting Latvia and Israel to give his country's fans that made the journey to Seville and Madrid a tournament to treasure.

At Benfica, Ramos is the captain and already this year, he's given the club's supporters a couple of big thrills.

In the decisive second leg of the EuroChallenge Qualifying tie at Ferro-ZNTU in Ukraine, Ramos had 15 points and seven rebounds to lead the team to a 77-72 win, giving them a five-point triumph on aggregate.

Back home in Portugal, he has just led Benfica to a 66-63 victory over FC Porto in the Super Cup.

"It was the first important trophy of the season," said Ramos, who turns 36 in December.

"It was against a rival that we will face many times this year and it has a special flavor.

"We have started the year well, but now we realize that we still have to work hard to improve as a team. The team isn't well physically and I think we still have, therefore, much room for improvement."

Ramos will be looking to make his mark in the EuroChallenge again when Benfica take on Lukoil Academic on November 16 in their Regular Season opener.

Antonio Paulo Ferreira is no longer the Barreirense head coach.
He is been for years in team of his heart giving everything he had to Barreirense and in this period of time he did it again thinking this is the best decision for the team .
He has been for years with Barreirense ,coached the youth levels and has been since 06/07 their head coach,he has helped the team to have league MVP,coached one of the best portuguese players Joao Gomes and alot others portuguese international players and helped players develop into human beings with class.
Barreirense is now looking already for a coach to replace him.

Default Josimar Cardoso is now a free agent

Lusitania Angra Patrimonio Mundial dismissed Josimar Cardoso (201-F-87) last Friday. The Guinean-Portuguese forward leaved Azores in the same day.

Last season, he was one of the figures in the team that won the Proliga Championship. Already this year, he was averaging 7.2 points and 3 rebounds per game.

Before joining Lusitania Angra Patrimonio Mundial, Josimar Cardoso played in Queluz, Belenenses, Casino Ginasio and Atletico Lisboa.

As for the reasons of this, nothing was communicated by the team media office. Being as important player in the team rotation, its expected that a new player would be signed to replace him in the roster
