Default Greek Players versus Greek Basketball Federation

    http://www.sport24.gr/html/ent/728/ent.373728.asp

Can somebody explain to me what the situation is in Greece between the players and basketball federation? Something to do with tax payments and contract obligations? Are we looking at a lockout?

    Thanks

Maroussi agreed terms with Stelios Ioannou (PG, 1.97m, 1987) from Ilysiakos on a three-year contract and also agreed terms with Thanassis Adetokumbo (SF, 2.00m, 1992) from Filathlitikos.

Especially the latter can be a good choice for the future, while Ioannou seems to be a decent selection for the third PG spot and still can develop his game a bit.

Kyriakou out of Panellinios which means the team will be out of A1.
There goes one of the few good teams that was left.

    Hi,
I'm looking from some help and I'm pretty sure that this is the right topic. Anyway, Do you know a website, where there are all the current signings for the season in the greek league? Something like this: http://www.acb.com/mercado.php for the ACB.

U will actually have 2 wait a couple of weeks 4 this because most of the teams r still building their rosters. There is no money with the exceptions of Panathinaikos and Olympiacos, so most teams r trying 2 find cheap and good players at the same time.
I'm sure that in a few weeks when the league will b about 2 start someone(either me or another Greek poster) will post the teams' rosters.

And a strike it is! No games this weekend. The strike is to last indefinitely.
The Euroleague Organization and Mr Bertomeu are like the Bulgarian Government: corrupt, partially stupid, and a huge underestimator of people's intelligence.

This sucks... I hope they don't haste the season when they decide to commence it so that the National Team can prepare more for the 2011 Eurobasket
But first of all, I hope they come to an agreement of a sort so that the season begins

half of PSAK has resigned, police force have kicked and hit players to make them evacuate the stadium,so the "matches" could begin, and PSAK president L.Papadopoulos has announced he will leave PAOK.

And as a fan of PAO the final score in our match against PAOK can only bring me sorrow that our players were CHICKENS and furthermore they had to add insult to the injury by such a scoreline.Shame.

    A truly f*cked up situation.
I expected more sense from my compatriots, Duda and Zots.
Could someone give some details about the whole story
When is the strike expected to end?

i talked to the director of psak last week, he said "not until the demands are met". i am guessing the strike goes on, but i am also assuming that most players will participate this week.

GRE – Tapoutos earns weekly MVP

THESSALONIKI (A1 Ethniki) – It was fitting that Christos Tapoutos earned the Round 3 MVP in Greece’s top flight after a 22-point performance for Aris in their 81-68 victory over PAOK in the Thessaloniki derby.

Tapoutos is Thessaloniki born and bred.

On the books of PAOK last season, he’s now with the team that wears yellow and it’s safe to say he knows all about the importance of the games when these two sides meet.

"I grew up watching the derby and I never imagined that one day I would be a protagonist in one of them," Tapoutos said.

"I am very happy that I helped my team get this victory...

"I wanted a big win over PAOK in our arena, wearing the shirt of Aris.

"Beyond that, it was a victory against a team that has the same objectives as we do."

Tapoutos and the rest of his Aris teammates were fired up for this encounter.

There were 5,500 fans that poured into the Alexander stadium to watch.

"It was very important to win against PAOK," he said.

"(But) I would like to stress that it was just a win and that we should look at each game separately.

"We have to try and give the maximum in all our games to achieve our goals."

Aris improved to 2-1 with Saturday’s win while PAOK dropped to 1-2.

    Other results: Maroussi 75 Icaros Kallithea 83, Panionios 70 Olympiacos 77, AEK 69 Panellinios 74, Iraklis 82 Ilysiakos 79 (OT), Panathinaikos 89 Peristeri 66 and Kavala 79 Kolossos 64.
