I was defending Sofo's value even before preparation games and I'll certainly keep on doing it.

I like his fighting style too

I'll go with Scola followed closely by the younger Gasol and big Sofo

Delfino has been really good in prepration so far. It looks like he wants to doa little bit more without Manu. With Scola they have been terrific for Argentina.
I also like Kirk Penney from New Zealand team.

Good points. Penney is a hell of talent. It´s a shame that his team isnt a wonderful.

It´s interesting, because he has a nice shot to end this WC as a top10 scorer in WC history, if im not wrong.

Dirk had a excelent chance to become a Top 3.

I voted for Scola, reluctantly. It's between Scola and Durant.

In the NBA last season, Durant averaged 30 points, 7 rebounds, and shot 47%. That's pretty good.

I voted for Scola because I think, right now, he's a more productive player, especially for his national team. Durant might be the better player, but Scola is helping his team more, and that matters for me.

In a book, they write they find a skeleton of [an] eagle and there is no fish. It means that the fish beat him and killed him, but he didn't let go." -- Donatas Motiejunas

I voted for Kleiza, but in reality it's Scola and Durant.

Penney has to be leading the warmups, by average scoring, I mean.

Dragic also has been a terror to all opposing defenses.

What about Freije for Lebanon, on a tear this week, scoring lots of points as Lebanon plays above its head.

Delfino, he has won some tough games for Argentina almost on his own.

Default Who's the best player in this tournament?

Maybe the administrators could turn this into a poll or something, not sure. But my latest piece for ELA and SLAM Magazine is called "The 50 Best non-USA Players in FIBA." I was writing for an American audience and wanted to let them know about some of the wonderful talent they've never heard of.

    The article is here.
Make sure you click on through to read the full article and leave comments there. It's the nation's largest hoops magazine, so make your voices heard.

But it got me thinking, so much stress is on the team aspect of this tournament that it sometimes distracts us from the great individuals who are taking part in this thing. So I ask you, who are your top ten? If you want to get really adventurous you can follow my lead and list 50. My ten:

    1. Navarro
    2. Luis Scola
    3. Tiago Splitter
    4. Linas Kleiza
    5. Ricky Rubio
    6. Nicolas Batum
    7. Goran Dragic
    8. Hedo Turkoglu
    9. Dimitris Diamantidis
    10. Viktor Khryapa

You made big mistake by not mentioning Spanoulis.

    Yi Jianlian?
    No Bourousis?

Lakovic 10th but no Ukic in Top 20?

Navarro is too high, should have been around 9-12 imo

    1. Yi Jianlian is a solid NBA player and without Yao Ming will lead China in WC.
    2. Ioannis Bourousis?? Why do you think he is a top 10 player? Imo, Luís Scola, Tiago Splitter are way better.
    3. Jaka Lakovič is not a top 10 player, maybe Carlos Delfino or Goran Dragić could be in 10th. Anyway, despite Lakovič has not a big role in Barça, he always performs well on NT.
    4. Navarro was the Euroleague Final Four MVP.
