Thread: Bourousis vs. Tanjevic

    Default Bourousis vs. Tanjevic

After the end of Greece-Russia game and Russia's win which was "questionable" to say the least, Greek center Bourousis exchanged some heated words with Turkey's coach Bogdan Tanjevic.

There was much speculation as to whether Greece and Russia would want to win today's game (loser would probably avoid Spain and USA in the next rounds) and that sparked some tension between many sides. But let's get more specific:

Everything started after the final whistle of the game which found Russians as the winners.

Tanjevic who was watching the game from the first row of the stands (Turkey plays against China in some minutes in the same arena) approached the Greek bench right after the game ended and ironically clapped and told Bourousis: "Congratulations, you did the same thing for the second consecutive year" (meaning Greece had given away the game to France in last Eurobasket).

Of course that did not satisfy the short tempered Greek center who moved towards Tanjevic and in turn told him something. Word after word the arena security guards (and Kazlauskas later on) had to come in between the two men in order for thing not to escalate.

Russian team coach David Blatt had also something to say about the game: "Greeks should be ashamed. What we saw was comedy, not basketball. Greeks shot to miss, on the other hand my players played with passion..."

This is the second most exciting thing you can do it indoor and you can do it in front of thousands. Well you know the first one and bedrooms are a bit small for thousands.

Oh yes, Russia played with passion that's why they win by 4 and jacked some random threes "to extend their lead" obviously.
Lithuania > Serbia 5:1 in official games this century

No bail out for Greece this time. Two times in a row is too much.

I think he was just being a bball spectator who was too bored by the passionate display during the game .

No need to heat up things for nothing, though.

Tanjevic's fault to come and provoke.
Bourousis has always short temper but in this case alone I don't blame him for what he did.

Boo Hoo, who really cares weather a team decides to tank a game? NBA teams tank half the season when they see that the playoffs are gone in order to increase their Draft chances. I'm reading on other threads that Greece should be ashamed and they've disrespected the game. The integrity of the game was gone once it turned professional....so all these self-righteous people hating and preaching - nobody cares what you think anymore. Sad but true. Greece may have tanked versus Russia but there are no guarantees that they'll beat France (if that's who they get in the end?). Its a risk which might backfire....as for Bourousis, god he's short tempered. I hope he can channel all that anger on the next game. Tajevic is a cock anyway, never liked the way he behaves on the sidelines, bitching, waving his skinny arms around, generally behaving like an idiot.

There - got it all off my chest, now I can go and sleep. Bring on the French

Tanjevic is probably pissed off because he knows that if they meet Greece in the semi finals they will lose the game and won't have the chance to win the gold medal

Is FIBA going to ban Tanjevic ??
Or going to other teams bench is permitted, especially when you have nothing to do with the game?
    Wtf
Tanjevic had nothing to do with it.

    It seems that last year

As far as I understand, the incident happened at the end of the game, and the next game was ours at the moment, so that wasn't Greek's bench anymore, but still I didn't like the attitude of Tanjevic, I wasn't expecting that kind of behaviour from him, that was not simply ethical if thats happened like that of course, and this is not normally Tanjevic, ok Greeks doing those on purpose consistently , but still trying to criticize a non-ethical attitude with a non-ethical attitude, he had to control his temper better..
