No offense to the spaniards like Frosties but Scariolo is a moron, i have just watch the preparation matches of Spain and i think he is doing a bad job with the forward position. Rudy Fernandez is not a Forward, San Emeterio is an undersized forward .... Spain will play the tournament without a standard Forward ?

Scariolo is not confident about playing with Claver at Forward spot and he doesn´t cut him , i have watched Claver playing power forward all the time, he will not play a minute at the Eurobasket because Pau Ibaka Marc .....

Am i alone about Scariolo is a moron ?

Few Spaniards like Scariolo. I like Claver staying in the team... But the problem is not going to use him, like in the last two competitions.

Scariolo is a moron. Luckily, players learned it early and don't pay much attention to him. He definitely lost reigns when against Turkey 2009 he draw last action for then youngest player Llull. Spain lost, Marc Gasol publicly criticized Scariolo. Pau and Navarro said they'll smooth things between coach and Mark. Things smoothed this way: players don't criticize Scariolo anymore, while he is not anymore consulted about teams' strategy and tactics.

But Scariolo is not moron for reasons you are suggesting. Spain has 2 among best shooting guards in world, Navarro and Fernandez, but no small forward nowhere near that level. So for long time (from before Scariolo) they start Navarro at 2 and Rudy and 3. They may lose something in size and defense, but they gain a lot more in offense with this dynamic duo capable to both play of Gasol (any smart team double teams him) and create for themselves. They are perfect pair with Navarro's drives and long range bombs, while younger and much more athletic Fernandez excelling in slashing and fast breaks.

I really wouldnt like Claver playing any significant time. He is so inconsistent with his play. To me Suarez is much more usefull to this team then Victor. Way better shooter.better defender and rebounder.

I do not think Scariolo is a bad coach, a moron or so. A moron does not win ACB with Unicaja, I would reserve that honor for Madrid and Barcelona.

He might be playing the puppet... but the strings are not moved by the real moron in Spanish basketball, the president of the FEB.

Gasol and Navarro´s golden generation has been always seen as "self managers", i.e. they play better without a coach than with a coach. Well.... my ass. They have had ups and downs but it seems they win and the coach makes them loose. Far from truth.

Gasol and Navarro are fantastic basketball players, top in Spanish history... but I do not think it is easy to play in the same team with them and their close circles "you are in, you are not, I like you, I don´t like you". Why does Fran Vázquez refuse to play with Gasol or/and Navarro? Let´s be honest: Vázquez is class ahead Reyes... but he is not part of the core. Fran knows it. And Gasol etc know that Fran is muuuuch better than Reyes. But, he is not cool and he doesn´t play card games.

This generation has been coached by 5 coaches. The only one I consider an incompetent coach is Mario Pesquera (Belgrade 05). They had issues with almost all of them, especially with Aito ... because you do not mess with him and you work hard as hell. Regarding Pepu, I still believe that in 2007 the relations were not that good between him and the players, otherwise Gasol and Navarro make everything possible to not fire him. Spain almost was coachless in the Olympics.

Scariolo might be a moron... but Gasol and Navarro are not mother Theresa either.

That's not true. The first competition where they shared the court for long stretches was in Poland 09, in the previous years Jimenez was the starting SF and Mumbru played most of the remaining minutes at that position.

Can anybody write about relationship between Rudy and Pau? They seem pretty cold to each other... I noticed that on NBA games too...

I do not know. I guess simply they are not friends, something quite normal. They seem to be two very different personalities. That being said, and as I posted before, I have my doubts about Pau´s interpersonal skills.

Alfonso Reyes, father of Felipe Reyes, suddenly died.
    http://www.feb.es/NoticiaDesarrollo....dNoticia=39132

    RIP, Alfonso Reyes

Felipe will miss tonight's game vs Australia and it is not known when he'll rejoin Spanish NT.
Before game there will be minute of silence in honor of Alfonso Reyes.

President of FEB José Luis Sáez will attend funeral. Out of players: team captain Juan Carlos Navarro, Sergio Llull and former player (now advisor in FEB) Juan Antonio Orenga.

The one with Felipe in the photo is his brother Alfonso Reyes (son), former national team player. Not the father (I say this to avoid any confusion).

    RIP, their father.

In other way, this was the most boring game of our preparation (Bulgaria maybe, but I didn't watch it).
