Btw, this is going to be Lithuania's 6th semifinal in a major basketball competition (WC, EC, Olympics) since 2000! Pretty outstanding.. However, we have only won once..

No matter, how it all turns out, Lithuania is incredibly proud of our youngsters.. They showed huge heart, will and character!
I personally believe we have a good chance if we play disciplined hard nosed defense like we did in the first half of today's game. Our biggest problem will be the ballhandling of our guards - if we take care of the ball, we'll win by 8-10, if not - lose by the same score.

The most certain prediction here is that Lithuania will win the battle of the boards. Russia killed the US in rebounding but they just couldn't retaliate on the offensive end.

The Lithuanian backcourt issues play right into the US's strengh, so I don't think we're going to see a repeat of the LTU/ARG game. If Lithuanian can borrow a page from Russia offensively (slow down the game and stretch the US defensively with either 3 pointers or dribble drives) and plug up the middle defensively, forcing the US into more half-court one-on-one isolation plays, they stand a real good chance of winning. The two advantages that Russia had over the US were their tall, athletic frontline of Monya, Mozgov and Vorontsevich, which controlled rebounding and helped alter shots, and Blatt's defensive schemes (compacted 2-3 match-up zone and a sagging man-to-man) that worked effectively to confuse the US on offense. Although Lithuania probably has better players collectively than Russia, I don't think they share the same advantages that Russia did. It should be an interesting contest.

well, basketball is a global language and its making more easy all communications between foreign countries,or simply i know couple of languages cuz of my job.
This is the second most exciting thing you can do it indoor and you can do it in front of thousands. Well you know the first one and bedrooms are a bit small for thousands.

I think that the Americans are still the favourites

America had their bad performance today, Lithuania had their great one

But this tournament has shown that great games can be consecutive

I think USA has the bigger chance and that they're warned, but Lithuania certainly has a shot to be 'X' if everything goes their way again like today

    Great match-up!

I actually agree that Liths and US are very "fit" for each other.
We will see who fits better

nope working in an airline company customer care department, so if you cant understand your customers how can you help them? thats why i have to speak couple of languages.

anyway if we turn to bb, this game reminds me arg-bra qfinal game.

maybe liths can struggle against usa if they think they gonna shot like tonight,i hope we can see close game.

We shot just 50% from the three. That should be standard shooting for us, considering our BB school history. ( Although, the 8/8 was a bit bizzare )
Lithuania > Serbia 5:1 in official games this century

we dont have anything to lose.I remember very good, when we beat jugoslvia in 1/4 in sidney 2000 (team which was dominanting basketball in 90s) in semis we had a good game with USA...that time we lost, but show world that there is now such thing as unbeatability in sport..so once again nobody knows...i know one thing our guys gonna leave all their hearts on the floor and with that team always will have chances !

Now Kemzūra needs to decide, "to run or not to run"

I'd say, "it's better to come back on the shield than without shield" (ancient Greek saying, or at least I was taught it like that at school ). Some decent fast offense is definitely needed, but we must take care of a ball as well.

I'm off to watch US-Russia game once again...

your % was 50 right but after 25+ point difference. if you start semifinal game like this even american cant handle such a great shooting performance like this.

even lakers couldnt do anything against ray allen at nba finals game 2.

What are you trying to prove here? Let's just wait for Lithuania-USA and see who wins

Based on today's games, Lithuania should beat the USA.

Lithuania is more aggressive and athletic, always attacking the basket. Even in the warm up game in Spain, they had tons of layups and dunks.

But if USA three-point shooting holds up, it will be a close game.

Tell Lithuania to call Blatt. Russia was always handing the ball off, rather than long passes, VERY SMART.

That's the question. But it's very easy question when you really don't have an options This team has to run. They simply can't play other game, because Kalnietis, Pocius, Delininkaitis are effective only this way basically - in uptempo game (Gecevičius is ready to step in if Pocius will have a bad night). We don't have Šaras and Šiškauskas who played great midcourt BB. This team needs to present the same crazy defence and the same up tempo offense. If Lithuania will hit their 3points, we'll have a chance.

    The flick from the future...

Didn't realize their race had something to do with pump fakes. Genetics may explain why white European players are so darn good at those backdoor cuts.
