ESPN reports that the New Orleans Hornets could be known as the Pelicans as early as next season.

Guard Eric Gordon will rejoin the team this coming Saturday for practice. Gordon missed all 25 games of the Hornets this season.

Also, the team has been reported to be filing for new patents. Some say that the team moniker is being accelerated.

Eric Gordon scored 24 points in 25 minutes of action off the bench. Gordon was 5-13 from the floor due to him still finding his niche with the Hornets structure, Bobcats kept fouling him and the result was Gordon going 12-14 from the charity stripe.

Congratulations to Greivis Vasquez for being named Western Conference player of the week (Dec. 24 - Dec. 30).

I watched Vasquez from college scorer with Maryland into an under-utilized combo guard in Memphis. I'm glad he is making strides playing point. He is having a career year in assists numbers.

Greivis Vasquez is currently leading the league in assists. Last time a Hornets player lead the league in assists was when Chris Paul was in a Hornets jersey. Paul did so in 2007-08 and 2008-09.

Greivis Vasquez had his first career triple double of 21 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds and helped New Orleans comeback into the game by erasing a 14 point deficit into the first half. Teammate Eric Gordon scored 27 points.
