P.s I hope Sofo will still play for Maccabi for the next couple of years and Maccabi get Perkins back!!! He's awesome!

^^ Yes, that's him. When did MTA signed him? There's no information about him or anything on Maccabi's offical website or even on Maccabi's roster...

He could be the next Omri Casspi!

By the way, since Idan's jersery number is 15 and Shawn James's jersery number is also 15. So confused, anybody knows about that? Or did Shawn get a new number jersey?

In any case, he is no Casspi. Different positions, different bodies. I'm glad, Maccabi has finally used a youngster for a couple of minutes.

about perkins ,all depend on the way mta broke up.
if mta let perkins know that they trusted on him but they simply cant wait him, we have chance doron will come back.
if doron felt mta didnt trust on his health, so i guess he will not come back . anyway yes perkins seems to be the old perkins, but perkins and ohayon cant be a good duo for an important euroleague season. in any case mta would need a pg who organize and score. with doron and ohayon, we 'd had just two defensive base, nor points. hairston would be great if in good health.

WTF are you talking about once again? Nobody has broken anything up! Perkins' contract was over. He was offered an extension by Maccabi but he decided that his worth will rise at the season's end. He was gambling. After that, he got the injury and nobody wanted to sign him, especially for the kind of money he envisioned for himself. He knows it and he knows, when he became game-ready. He knows, when Maccabi needed a PG. If he wants to play for Maccabi next season and the offer is right, he will come back. If he can get more money somewhere else, he will go there.

Once again, you are showing that you have no clue about basketball. Since when is a defensive-minded PG unable to organize offense? Whoch free agent PG does have a caliber big enough to organize Maccabi offense in your opinion, while not costing a kind of money Maccabi can't pay?

    about perkins
when i wrote his evental future in mta will depend on the way they broke, i meant that since he was under mta attention(not contract surely. we well know he had no contract with us),he decided to go somewhere else, because one of those two reasons:
1 he felt mta's distrust in him
2 simply he understood mta cant wait him since march.
case n.1 he will never come back
case n. 2 maybe he could
it was so hard to understand what i wrote about? those three lines before were absolutely futiles to everybody who simply has an average understanding capacity.

about defensive pg. again, a defensive pg can have offensive organization, sure, but this doesnt mean ability to score and mainly we are talking of ohayon who dont know one only way to score. no shoot ,no penetrations.having some assist ,and defend is the minimum a pg MUST do. not enough
again, a pg, mainly the first pg of a team, MUST have a good shoot ,must be an alternative scoring way. surely he has to be a defensive player and organizer too. so again, the 1th driver must defend, offend, shoot. do ohayon has those qualities all together to be our main pg next year? i dont think so. if we add perkins close to him would be great watching at actual perkins health, but will not solve the problem that we wouldnt have enough point by the driver position
considering mta is over pullen and hairston , probably they finally understood it.
considering at this year , u are asking me wich pg free agent could be added. mallet wasnt a free agent, so u should include all euro players(obviously who fit for our budget) not just f.a as player we can add.
for example pullen was great to add. u know, anyway to add mallet even had some logic. having ohayon and papa, mta needed scoring players, but he has to play as a pures scorer not as a play maker. blatt basketball doesnt consider pure scorers , so was easy to imagine he play few minute per game, mainly if u already have langford. so u could ask ,why langford? if u well remember langford also played as driver and now as a pure scorer!he didnt fit with blatt's basketball , but blatt understood that this year he need one pure scorer, having ohayon/papa as dirvers.
i bet with pullen or hairston , blatt would release langford

due to a basketball commentator in israel burnstein thinking about retire this season.
in maccabi managment thinking about hanochi from rishon lezion as a replacement-the guy weak offensively(lately getting alot better) but good in defence and the ability to defend on every player from positions 1-4(even though he only a 1.96 guard.
i think he can be a good replacement for a backup.

An average understanding capacity would let you have a look at the calendar. MTA was already one month all set on the PG, when Perkins was approached by another team, when it felt the chance to advance to the playoffs and if not, he wouldn't hurt keeping them in competition in Italy. When Maccabi signed Mallet, Perkins wasn't ready. Mallet was in top shape, playing a great season for Charleroi. So, whom do you go for in this case? Perkins was a free agent and Maccabi was no the only team, possibly interested in him. It had no leverage whatsoever.

about defensive pg. again, a defensive pg can have offensive organization, sure, but this doesnt mean ability to score and mainly we are talking of ohayon who dont know one only way to score. no shoot ,no penetrations.having some assist ,and defend is the minimum a pg MUST do. not enough
No penetration? You are probably watching different games than I do. On an average team, he would also shoot more but since he has more capable shooters around him, he tries to serve them. Definitely, the best feat for a backup.

again, a pg, mainly the first pg of a team, MUST have a good shoot ,must be an alternative scoring way. surely he has to be a defensive player and organizer too. so again, the 1th driver must defend, offend, shoot. do ohayon has those qualities all together to be our main pg next year? i dont think so. if we add perkins close to him would be great watching at actual perkins health, but will not solve the problem that we wouldnt have enough point by the driver position
I get crazy with your "driver". There is no such English term for a point guard. Playmaker. Not driver.
Perkins is not a shooter. He is a scorer. He can hit the outside shot, he can go to the basket whenever he wants to and against anyone he wants to. There are no PGs in Europe other than McCalebb who can shoot and drive with equal efficiency.

considering mta is over pullen and hairston , probably they finally understood it.
Can't say anything about Pullen but there will be no Hairston in Tel-Aviv for 1 mio Euro.

considering at this year , u are asking me wich pg free agent could be added. mallet wasnt a free agent, so u should include all euro players(obviously who fit for our budget) not just f.a as player we can add.
Mallet was not a free agent. He was just a bonus player for his previous team and they were glad to get rid of his contract, once their EL season was over.

for example pullen was great to add.
I can judge him from stats only, not having watched games with Pullen. He plays for a highlym ediocre Italian team, where he is scoring 15 ppg. His ppg and his shooting are worse in Italy than Mallet's were in Euroleague. Mallet, a proven player at this level. Pullen?

u know, anyway to add mallet even had some logic. having ohayon and papa, mta needed scoring players, but he has to play as a pures scorer not as a play maker. blatt basketball doesnt consider pure scorers , so was easy to imagine he play few minute per game, mainly if u already have langford. so u could ask ,why langford? if u well remember langford also played as driver and now as a pure scorer!he didnt fit with blatt's basketball , but blatt understood that this year he need one pure scorer, having ohayon/papa as dirvers.

Exactly. Mallet is bes playing alongside a pass-first PG. He is a worse scorer than Langford, since he is shorter and not that good a slasher, so Langford plays more, who is very consistent at the moment. As a PG, Mallet could convince in the Adriatic League but Maccabi had four hard games in a row in the EL, where there was no room for experiments.

Langford is a proven EL player. He has his weaknesses, but who the f.cuk is Pullen? No, wait, who the f.ck is Hairston? Player that doesn't pass the ball and is a worse scorer than Langford? Are those the two heroes Langford would be released for? Are you actually believing in what you are writing here?

So, again - who should that FA be, whom Maccabi could get as an FA or for a very small buyout who could helo the team. Pullen is a mini-Mallet. I see enough scorers from smaller leagues at the PG. I don't see any adeqate pass first PGs who are also good shooters.

my only answer is: pullen is a scorer and also a driver. his percent are conditioned by the fact all team is on his shoulders, but he is a very good player.

Probably. I haven't seen him play, so I can't really judge him. But his "driver" qualities with 3.0 apg, while being given handed the keys to his team, seem like a low number.
Please, maccabeo, find another word for "driver". There is no such English term in the world of basketball. Americans call it "playmaker".

He is also very short. Maybe he is very quick and athletic to cover it.

So, he might be good or might have a bright future (McCalebb wasn't that good in his first EL season - he totally couldn't shoot) but he is still not scoring that many pts. and has very few assists, his shooting percentage (FTs as well) isn't great. Maybe this season is too early to mention him as a candidate for Maccabi at the starting PG spot.

well, he surely isnt my favourite. i just wrote he is a good player and for the final part of this season his skills were better for blatt than mallet

well i guess for u i'm sad about it.
u should pay more attemption to my topic if u want correcting reporting my idea.
i think blatt is one of best eu coach.
i simply wrote, and i confirm, he totaly failed this year . the summer market(not one choise, but almost every player added).also, he didnt impose his idea about partecipation to aba league, but at the same time, he criticize every time he can mta' s partecipation and says how hard is playing three competitions. also, his defensive basket didnt fit for this kind of team . i think a coach should consider his roster to manage a way of play. last, his basket doesnt consider the arch as in europe is a must today(this is the only "historical" blatt 's error )
to fail a season cant mean a coach is mediocre. i'm glad he will stay with us for so long and i hope it mean we had some more guarantees by managment

If one bets on future events, he must either be able to get big dividends (which you don't) or be quite sure about those upcoming events. Nothing pointed to Blatt's departure from Maccabi to us but you were so sure you wanted to bet on it.

I have watched his highlights on youtube. Barely drives to the basket, almost exclusively mid-range and long-distance shots, no assists. Why should an inexperienced player of 178 cm be better for a team like Maccabi than Mallet, who is experienced and has had better statistics on a higher level with great deal of consistency? Is Pullen Pargo? Is he Perkins? Bynum? A player, individually so well, he can take the EL in storm, coming after the regular season? He is playing good but not great basketball for a highly mediocre team in Italy. I have watched Dashaun Wood doing even better for the Frankfurt Skyliners last season. His teammates were quite shitty, yet he was so fast, he could drive to the basket everytime he wanted to, he could shoot well and even find his teammates. His team was second in the league after the regular season. Actually, you must know him from his Italian days 3-4 years ago. Then he came to Berlin, where his stats dropped somewhat but he is still number one on a Eurocup team. Can he come to Maccabi and lead it? Is he used to the kind of strong defense in the EL? He is not a power but a finesse player. I have my reservations about it. Even more about Pullen.

I'm looking for a link to watch or download the Adriatic League game between Maccabi Tel-Aviv & Hemofarm Vrsac. I search on google but as I only find a short Youtube video. If anyone who wrote hebrew can do a search for me, I'd be really grateful. Thanks in advance.

    to goga
the way mallet is considered, maybe confiemed that pullen could have been better. is a fact that mallet is not considered(and is a big error expcially if we wanna have one chance with pana)
about blatt. that's curious. who is the one who when s betting , can be sure at same time??? yes i confirm there are many things that were making me doubts blatt and mta can continue. blatt cant be happy of the three leagues. owners cant be happy of many failed players(so salaries) choose by blatt this summer. i think is enought to consider wasnt sure to go on with him.
anyway techinically talking, if u saw at tonight match, we can be sure mta will not change to play the "paintedbasket", what we 'd need to face pana. tonight we can improve a different basket , more unpredictable basket, that alternate arch and paint in offense. this make me afraid not about the quarter final lost, that is sure and that will be 3-0 for pana, but i'm afraid of the scores. i m afraid we could be even umiliated because of the incredible roster differences and because of the more vaious way of offend by pana
