Logos placed on jerseys in NBA D-League playoffs

NEW YORK (AP) -- While the NBA studies putting sponsor logos on jerseys, the Development League is placing them on their teams' uniforms in the playoffs.
BBVA's logo will be featured across the back of all jerseys during the NBA D-League playoffs, the league announced Monday. It's the first time a marketing partner will have brand exposure on a D-League jersey other than adidas, the league's official outfitter.
BBVA, a financial service institution, is the presenting partner of the NBA D-League playoffs and finals.
NBA owners discussed placing sponsor logos on their jerseys during their meetings last week, but are just beginning the study and Commissioner David Stern said he doesn't expect to take any action next season.

I have seen Canton's games during the playoffs and Hassell was a good contributor. As of the moment, he is said to be looking to try out in the South Korean basketball league.

Maybe in the Eurocup. I just don't see Hassell being effective in the Euroleague competition. In Asia, he will be productive.

The Fort Wayne Mad Ants have announced their new head coach: Duane Ticknor, a well travelled coach / assistant coach in the US minor league. Ticknor is fresh off a coaching / consultant gig in South Korea under the Changwon LG Sakers.

It will be interesting on how the so-called "hybrid partnership" between the Idaho Stampede and Portland Trailblazers will fair under the 2012-13 Season. Portland will handle front-office matters like coaching and roster management while the remnants of the Stampede will be the marketing arm.

The Reno BigHorns and the city of Reno will host the 2013 NBA D-League showcase.

RSCVA to Host D-League Showcase in 2013

The Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA) will again host the NBA Development League Showcase at the Reno Events Center, NBA D-League President Dan Reed announced today at Mendive Middle School. Reed was joined at the press conference by Reno Bighorns Managing Partner Herb Santos, Jr., Christopher Baum, President & CEO of the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority, and Bighorns head coach Paul Mokeski. The 2013 NBA D-League Showcase, which will feature all 16 NBA D-League teams, will run from Jan. 7-10, and will mark the second-consecutive year the RSCVA will host the event in Reno.

With the approval of the Santa Cruz's city council, the Golden State Warriors will relocate their D-League owned team, the Dakota Wizards from Bismarck, North Dakota into Santa Cruz. A 30,000 square-foot arena will be built and housing around 2,750 spectators.

Los Angeles D-Fenders head coach Eric Musselman will coach the NBA D-League Select that will participate in the NBA 2012 Summer League.

Another D-League success story is Greg Stiemsma of the Boston Celtics. He got called up to the Celtics earlier this season and made the roster cut. Now, Greg is a part of the USA Select Team.

It is reported that the Boston Celtics will be purchasing the Maine Red Claws franchise and setup another hybrid partnership with the said organization.

The Red Claws recently lost head coach Dave Leitao, who signed with Missouri in the NCAA as an assistant coach. While general manager Jon Jennings stepped down to seek other ventures.

The Utah Jazz have struck an accord to be an affiliate of the Reno BigHorns. Utah joins the Memphis Grizzlies and the Sacramento Kings as affiliates for next season.
