    Default Deron Williams to Besiktas?

At this point, it's still just a rumor, but NTVspor is reporting that Deron Williams has a contract in place to play for Beskitas.

If somebody could give us a "gist" translation, that might be helpful.

I heard on tv today (ntvspor) that Ergin Ataman (coach of Beşiktaş) have said they are very close to signing DW.

So D-Will is an unrestricted free agent, and can sign anywhere he pleases? When does Beşiktaş start playing with him officially?

    ESPN reporting this too

He's under contract and needs a letter from FIBA to make this official, but the players union has said they will take the NBA owners, and FIBA to court if they are denied the right to seek employment.

Could have a huge impact on the lockout if Deron's just the first.

I have three point for you:
1-Deron Williams hasn't money problem to come in Europe to play 3 months only or full season if lockout continue till June. The only targets for european teams are the mid level players, the FA, the european players in Nba or the rookies.

2-I hope coach Ataman, if I know him, didn't agree this stupid sitiation. During the last lockout players like Olowokandi, at that times he was the first pick in the draft, or Del Negro come to plays in Bologna's teams. They was softly, played without energy us they had the eggs under them shoes. All because them had a valid cotract in Nba and don't wont to injury in Europe.

History of BJK in last years is empty by players that go away to delay in payments. BJK last season signs Allen Iverson with a two milions dollars deal, but replace him with Kemp, a 250k player IN LOAN! BJK don't want spend over 5 milions to the basketball team, them spent only for for football.

NTV Spor reports that D-Will's salary is $200k/month. Can anyone confirm this? It's certainly not a bad offer, but just seems a little low for him to risk injuries and potentially lose 20 million.

    What do you mean?

Is this a way for Williams to pressure the Nets Russian owner into trying harder to end the lock-out (and then for Williams to get his contract signed and sealed)?

The New York Times: Deron Williams Reaches Deal to Play in Turkey

Deron Williams, the Nets’ star point guard and one of the N.B.A.’s premier players, has an agreement to play in Turkey during the lockout.

D-Williams will be a moving advertisement
Besiktas decided that they can afford 600 to 800K as advertisement, for their name to be heard worldwide
    The terms are good. Really.

Not very expensive, the team is not playing in EL, they are making noise, maybe next year they get a wildcard. I say, why not? If a team can spare the money and have nothing to lose (they are not a EL contender) why not spend 6 or 8 hundred or even 1M on D-Williams instead of 2-3 "European" Americans and still end with the same result but less advertisment

The key is if several go, as it is just Deron it's nothing but an aberration, but if high profile stars leave the league you run a dangerous risk injury damaging their franchises value. Owners may be willing to lose a season, but if it means losing a headline attraction after the lockout ends then there's more pressure on them.

And yes this does put some pressure on Prokorov already.

There goes the ''cheap ad'' theory..
to waste so much money on a player that's signing there so he can go on a vacation..
haven't Besiktas learned anything from the AI case?

Does 1 year deal a full season, or he can cut back to the NBA during the season?
