According to this guy, Besiktas' bank accounts are frozen. While ESPN Radio broadcasted that if the accounts are really frozen, they will not be able to pay Williams on a monthly basis.

And now, besiktas is interested in Kobe Bryan too (200.000 € a month deal)...

At this point of the lockout, it feels as if deron may be playing a full season there. I'm not sure about durant, because it looks like we wants to travel around the world and play.

Deron Williams will make his playing debut for Basiktas when the team plays an against the Belgian team, Dexia Mons-Hainaut for the EuroCup tournament in September 27. Dexia has an import named Warren Carter who was Williams' teammate in Illinois University.

Article by ESPN's Rick Reilly where he trashes Turkish Basketball, basically calls them uncivilized and advises players like Deron Williams to reconsider playing there.

he has valid points, about besiktas especially(terrible managament) but the approach is not healthy. he is either very biased or never been to turkey. He might have a totally different approach if he spent a few days in istanbul and saw a game.

The intensions are, to make Turkey look like the shitholes where americans usualy bring "democrasy, peace and freedom". Every normal person, who isn't blind will see who runs the american medias, and why they write such an article for their "closest ally in the Mid. East", after their 51st state of coure.

i think it was an anti-islam article, and he uses the experience of this player to justify it.

i think Reilly wanted to say nba players shouldnt play in muslim countries

Whether this article was racist or xenophobic isn't really important. Surely Williams will not base a decision on an ESPN article. He'll find out himself once he gets there.

when does something become "really important"?

the thread is on deron williams and besiktas and the article relates to both and is recent from a major us sportswriter concerning nba players signing to play there.

i would say the article could effect players basing their decision

from espn's and sports illustrated #1 writer (most read)

"Hey, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard and Dwyane Wade, maybe you want to re-think this idea of playing in a country that's bordered by Iraq, Iran and Syria.
Hey, Kobe Bryant, maybe that $1 million a month you wanted from Besiktas isn't looking like quite enough?"

My experiences, what I saw in 25 years of my life...
And yes, exactly %90, not even %89.9 or %90.1...

All the Turkish citizens know what a terrible country Turkey is but everybody needs to defend his country in front of foreigners.
Yes, what he wrote true by %90, maybe more...
