The owners have decided to remain in place. Albeit with a lower budget.

Regarding the selection of the 2 college players supposedly Duda took advice from Gregg Popovic and the Spurs scouting team. For Kyle Hines Duda had seen him in action during the 2 Bamberg - Olympiacos games last season, where Hines was very good.

Seems a quite interesting team, after all.
I like that they signed young, talented guys like Lucas, Howard, Gecevicius, really...
Also, I know Hines very well, played great at LegaDue level for a couple seasons, really plays much taller than he is down low, he's explosive and has an incredible wingspan, a productive player...Too bad he didn't improve his range, he seemed capable to do it when he first came to Italy but didn't show much progress...

Anyway, what do you think of the team? Are you happy?

Olympiacos is lately doing very nice things in the transfer market. They are finally trying to build a serious team to win the Greek league
But, there will be an obstacle, if Spanoulis is running the point

He's an economical obstacle too. He'll get 2 million euros for the next 2 years, no matter what. A true pain in the ass.

    So, Oly's roster so far:

PG: Spanoulis (according to Duda, he will be our main point guard, god help us all), Sloukas, Lucas
    SG: Gecevivius, Pelekanos, Katsivelis
    SF: Papanikolaou, Kecelj, Vasilopoulos
PF: Howard (Dwight yo man! ), Printezis
    C: Hines, Glyniadakis

We suck big time in PF-C areas.

It seems all them are bench player without Papanikalaou. They all given limited minutes from Ivkovic not 20-25+ mins. So for me hard exam waiting for Oly about defence.

Depends on how you see it. They are building a new team with very little money that will just fight hard. The 3 american players they got cost under 1 million. ALL 3 TOGETHER They have to explain to the fans that this year they have to have little expectations from these young guys. If they don't take care to explain that... it's gonna be a big problem for the team. Last year Olympiacos is... last year. No papaloukas, bourousis, teodosic etc. Different class. The players they're getting will be enthusiastic and fight hard, but you can't seriously expect to win the league from Panathinaikos with a team consisting of young college players with no prior experience in europe and youngsters like sloukas, papanikolaou, keselj etc. Spanoulis will be the only high level player in the team. While Panathinaikos kept most of their players and they still are Euroleague F4 material. Olympiacos will have a really hard time to even get to top-8...

I think this team belongs to a different class to the previous one. And they have to explain that to the fans. They have to expect less from this team and don't pressure them much. A top-16 team with cheap players that will just fight hard. Am i happy?? NO! But i'm not the one who pays the bill so i can't say much. This is the new economic reality like it or not... the new super heavy taxation law is killing the sport. There won't be any contracts left in greek basketball to tax... they'll earn a lot less with this heavy taxation. And we expect from these morons to save country's economy...

Something I was wondering and now seems like the time to ask- why did Papadopoulos leave PAO in 2003?

    Default Matt Nielsen

How was Matty Nielsen's performance last season?
    Out of 10?

I know that Olympiakos has released him and he's takin' his talents over to BC Khmiki but was he released because he under-performed?

He hardly played during the second half of the season.
I don't remember if he had an injury or sth, but that wasn't the main reason for him being left out of the team on a constant basis.
Simply awful, especially on the defensive end.

    Ok we have:

    PG: Spanoulis, Lucas, Mantzaris, Sloukas(?)
    SG: Gecevicius, Pelekanos, Katsivelis, Bramos(?)
    SF: Papanikolaou, Kecelj, Vasilopoulos
    PF: Howard, Printezis, Antic(?)
    C: Hines, Papadopoulos, Glyniadakis

So far, in 4 friendly games, two against PAOK and two against Ikaros Kallitheas we have four wins.

Lucas and Hines both have 11.2 ppg and Howard has 6.2 ppg! I hope the American trio will give their 100% through the year. They are all huge questionmarks for the team...

it's amazing how things change. The most solid line (at least, in theory) is the SFs with Pap, Kecelj and Vasilopoulos...
