I was in Barcelona for the first time few days ago. Lovely city, good food, lots of things to do, lots of places to visit. I've got a ticket to Nou Camp Barca - Zaragoza game for 45 euros. Stadium was HUGE, but the atmospher... pathetic... only tourists, no fans, no support

Yeah, not a ton of atmosphere at the Nou Camp when I was there a few years ago, but the guy next to me yelling "cambio, cambio" every time Ibrahimovic screwed up was entertaining.

Going to SE Asia early next year. Flying to Hong Kong, flying back from Singapore two weeks later, haven't filled in the rest. Any suggestions? Not interested in beaches.

Bangkok is an interesting place. While in Hong Kong, take 1 or 2 days and go to Macau.

Returned from Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.
Loved Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, great places with a lot of cultural diversity. Next on the menu is Miami (again). Maybe Dubai and probably Lisboa too.

I'll be in all those places in a month. Anything I can't miss while I'm there?

Depending on what you are out for.

We have been to Phuket and Koh Samui and didnt like all the hookers and low-life Europeans&Australians over there. Too much tourism and no real attractions unless you want to buy cheap fake stuff and want to see a ping-pong show or some Disney-like shows with Elephants and so on.

Singapore is nice for a couple of days. If you want to catch some hoops, Singapore Slingers in the ABL might be for you.
Marina Bay Sands has the "Ku De Tah", a nice bar on the rooftop. Chinatown, Little India and maybe a short stopover at Sentosa Island's Tangjong Beach Club. Singapore by night is better for sightseeing since it looks nice with all the lights.
Shopping on Orchard Road and you may do some Night Safari as well.

Kuala Lumpur is cheaper than Singapore and the Petronas Towers are pretty impressive. Underneath is a shopping center with a food court that has it all for 2 Dollars each menu.
The Pavillion Shopping Center in Bukit Bintang has a nice Lebanese restaurant called "Al Amar" on the rooftop. Expensive but delicious!
Most people are heading for the area to do late night shopping.
I wont recommend the Islamic Arts Museum, since its boring as hell. We liked the National Museum, since it gaves an inside about the history of the country and it diverse ethnical background.
The caves must be nice, but we didnt have the time do the trip.
Check out wikitravel for airport transportation, since the airport is far off...we took a bus to the city and a cab back to the airport. They like to rip off foreigners. Cabs are pretty cheap inside the city, but a lot of traffic so take trains instead for sightseeing. Also, KL Dragons are playing in the ABL.

Yeah, not my scene. I'm sticking to Bangkok, which could be interesting with the recent terrorism warning...

Only if they're playing the Beermen. Perhaps pretend to be a "scout" looking at some of the Filipino players and see how long it takes for the news to show up here.

Thx for the other KL/Singapore tips.

Bangkok is good for shopping only. Again a ton of hookers and so on...I loved Chang Beer, thats all Ive bought there. Remember one thing: The smell on the streets is nasty. I still have it in my mind when I think of Thailand. Sorry, it was a waste of time, but others liked it there...hope you have a better experience there.

Attend a game when Saigon heat are in town. Julius Hodge...

In Singapore, try "Fullerton One" in the evening. Nice place to sit down for a beer when its getting dark. At Clarkes Quay, there is Senor Taco, which makes expensive but authentic mexican tacos. And I know what I am talking about. Owner is Mexican and does it the right way.
Try Indian food in Little India, its good and makes you fat in ten seconds...and in Chinatown, you can find dried Gekkos and crocodile meat...lol.

I checked the schedules and the only time I'm around for an ABL game is when Bangkok hosts the Philippine Patriots...I think Muay Thai might win out instead...

I don't know, I don't really trust Mexican food outside the US. If you ever make it to Reykjavik you will have to review the Mexican/Icelandic fusion place for us.

This is going to be one of the sweatiest weeks of my life.

Everyone who works for Cathay Pacific is Filipino. Is it okay for me to ask their opinion on the Juicy Giants versus the Toothpastemen or will they think I'm crazy?

Well, this ugly industrial town is my next assignment for 2 years, starting from yesterday. If you wanna make the God laugh, tell him about your plans.

Man you need to change your career from the oil & gas industry... Or come work here in the Gulf Region were even though you'll fry your a$$ off at least you'll get a $hit load of money and compensation while doing so.
So how did you know that there's a high chance that you'll get relocated again to Romania and Ploesti in specific as you mentioned a couple of years ago?

Romania is kind of a hub for eastern Europe, so I knew it was possible. For my new assignment, they asked me what I think of Norway, the USA, Mauritania and Australia. I said I'd like the latter two, somewhere exotic. They said ok, we took note of your preferences. They apparently did
At least it's close to Hungary.
