Only two teams will go to the FIBA-Asia under-16 tournament in Vietnam right? If so, I don't think Indonesia is officially qualified with the win over Laos since Malaysia just beat Singapore, 74-70. Therefore, the game between Malaysia and Indonesia will determine the second spot ticket to Vietnam.
If it's three spots, then both Malaysia and Indonesia will join Philippines to Vietnam.

SEABA U16: Malaysia open account; Indonesia down Laos
BANTING, Malaysia (2011 SEABA U16 Championship): Malaysia and Indonesia took decisive steps towards booking a qualifying berth with contrasting, but compact wins on Day 3 of the 2011 SEABA U16 Championship at the Kuala Langat Stadium on Thursday.
Malaysia opened their win account beating traditional rivals Singapore 74-70 after a yo-yo battle and Indonesia carried too many guns to rout Laos 83-50.
Chua Jian Sheng’s 25 points was the only double digit score for Malaysia, but that the other rallied around and chipped in.
Han Yuan led Singapore with 21 points. Toh Huang, Delvin Goh and Tay Yan each had a dozen.
Rivaldi Kosasih’s 23 points and 22 rebounds was the highlight of Indonesia’s win.
Juan Kokodiputro too had a double double – 14 points and 17 rebounds – and Rafael Yogia contributed 11 points.
Thavonphaneuk’s 15 points was the highest for Laos.
The top three teams from Banting will qualify for the 2nd FIBA Asia U16 Championship to be played in Nha Trang City (Vietnam) from Oct 18-28.

- The Indons fell victim to atrocious free-throw shooting (36%), bad ball-handling, and bad ball distribution (only 1 assist!), which negated their rebound advantage.
- Jia Xia Tong's double-double (20 points & 11 rebounds) led Malaysia's charge. He was supported by Jian Sheng Chua's 30-point explosion.
- Juan laurent Kokodiputro himself had a double-double (20 points & 13 boards) to lead Indonesia as well.
- Malaysia improves to 2-1 while Indonesia slips to 2-2.

hmmm... Thavonphaneuk is the top scorer for their team.. i think hes in top 5 best scorer of the tournament.
BOUPHAHEUANGHAK is the top rebounder..(hes the tallest on their team but only 182cm) around 10 caroms per game..rivaling our very own Tolentino (6'3").

SEABA U16: Philippines clinch title with a game to spare; Malaysia clinch qualifying berth
BANTING, Malaysia (2011 SEABA U16 Championship): Philippines asserted their supremacy in SEABA basketball clinching the inaugural SEABA U16 Championship with a game to spare on Friday beating Laos 101-57 at the Kuala Langat Stadium.
In the later game of the day, hosts Malaysia overcame initial jitters and Indonesia for a 79-63 win and clinched the qualifying for the 2nd FIBA Asia U16 Championship taking Indonesia also along.
The top three teams from Banting will qualify for the 2nd FIBA Asia U16 Championship to be played in Nha Trang City (Vietnam) from Oct 18-28.
Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia have thus booked their place in Vietnam rendering Saturday’s proceedings at Banting only of academic interest.
A 20-5 lead in the first five minutes put the Filipino youngsters in the vanguard against Laos with Arvin Tolentino going on to score a game-high 30 points.
Daryl Pascual added 14 points and Rensar Asilum came off the bench to contribute as many points for the Philippines.
Laos’ normally prolific Thavonphaneuk was kept under a check and was restricted to 11, but Sensouliya’s 17 points and Bouphaheuanghak’s 16 kept their flag flying.
Malaysia trailed 9-13 in the first five minutes, but a 8-2 run in the latter part of the first quarter put the hosts in control for the remainder of the game.
Chua Sheng poured in 30 points and Tong Xuan had 20 points in the Malaysian win.
Juan Kokodiputro’s 20 points led the scoring for Indonesia, who wound up their engagements with 2 wins and as many losses.

Singapore was able to test the Philippines as they're able to trim a 16 point lead to 8 in the third quarter before the SEA champs made a run in the 4th quarter.
It may be an ugly win or a win that the boys should've won by at least 30, but looking at the bigger picture, Olsen Racela and his team need to be tested. None of the teams have given this team a tough test. The good part is that this young team learned that no lead is safe in basketball, and things are now going to get really tough.
Overall, it's still a very successful campaign on our way to the FIBA-Asia under-16 championships.

BANTING, Malaysia (2011 SEABA U16 Championship): Having clinched the title on Friday itself, Philippines went about their business at a languid pace yet registered a facile 70-52 against Singapore and hosts Malaysia brought the curtains down on final day of inconsequential proceedings beating Laos 83-56 to conclude the 2011 SEABA U16 Championship on Saturday.
Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia – in that order – had already qualified to represent SEABA in the 2nd FIBA Asia U16 Championship to be played in Nha Trang City (Vietnam) from Oct 18 – 28.
Chris Vito and Arv Tolentino led Philippines’ scoring with 13 points each.
Lim Liang’s 11 points was Singapore’s highest.
Chua Jiang Sheng led Malaysia with 22 points and Tan Kang had 14 rebounds.
Khamphay Inthavixay and Phommasone each had 14 points for Laos.

- The Pinoys had an unexpectedly hard time putting the Singaporeans away. Singapore cameo out of the halftime gates blazing, outscoring the Philippines, 23-16 in the 3rd stanza to provide a significant threat.
- The Philippines failed to convert all of their 22 attempts from beyond the arc. It's a good thing that their size was able to offset that statistic. The Filipinos outrebounded the Singaporeans, and had more points in the paint as well as second chance points.
- Energen Pilipinas goes up 4-0 while the SIngaporeans fall to 1-3, and are thus eliminated from qualifying for the FIBA-Asia U16.

- Malaysia proved to be too much for the Laotians. The Malaysians shot 10 triples, had more rebounds and scored better underneath. They led from the start and never looked back.
- It's clear that Laos has a helluva long way to go before they make some noise in the regional basketball scene. They forced Malaysia to commit 23 turnovers, but only produced 2 points off these turnovers.
- Malaysia clinches 2nd spot at 3-1 as Laos ends the tournament winless after four games.

Still, I find it weird to have four Southeast Asian countries playing. That's because two years ago, Malaysia was the host, and the tournament included only Philippines and Thailand as the other SEABA teams. I guess I am just not used to see four SEABA teams in a FIBA-Asia tournament.
It's too bad Thailand's national basketball governing body was suspended by FIBA-- the Thais have always put up a good challenge vs. the Philippines.
I wonder who the Thai version of Lito Puyat is.
why is it fiba asia chooses vietnam as the host of the U-16 Asian Champs.?
