Last season's ambush and thrashing of the San Antonio Spurs netted attention to the Memphis Grizzlies where they served notice that they are a force to be reckoned with in the West.

The Double Tower of Power of Randolph and Gasol pounced on the Spurs frontline. Advancing into the second round, the Grizzlies gave the Thunder quite a scare before falling.

It was a historic run for the franchise and without their other star, Rudy Gay. ESPN pondered if the Grizzlies are contenders the following season if Gay is back into the fold and how would have Gay helped the team had he been playing. Some are quick to refute stating that the underdog story does not highlight the fact that the Spurs were extremely vulnerable come post season time.

But despite the claims from two sides, the Grizzlies made sure that teams in the West will acknowledge them as a dangerous foe.

After the lockout, the Grizzlies will have to address the unrestricted free agent status of Marc Gasol. Then there were rumors swirling that Rudy Gay is on the block this summer. Things that the Grizzlies front office will have to work with. Conventional wisdom states that "If it's not broken, don't fix it".

Could the Southwest Division next season (If there is one) be Bear Country after this? Time will tell.

We share the same view. Memphis must re-sign Gasol after the lock-out. Gasol, Randolph and Gay upfront is a very good front court.

I remember the Mayo trade not culminating due to the deadline elapsing. The Grizzlies was supposed to get Josh McRoberts of the Indiana Pacers for OJ Mayo. But with Mayo having a good series against the Spurs, maybe Mayo will not be traded.

According to ESPN Radio, the doctors have not given Rudy Gay medical clearance to play competitive basketball.

Point guard Mike Conley has organized a mini training camp for his teammates in a local gym in Memphis. Conley worked out with teammates Rudy Gay, Tony Allen, O.J. Mayo, Zach Randolph, Xavier Henry and Sam Young.

Tony Allen is working hard on his shot and is practicing daily. Allen has refined his form and release based from video clips of his workout.

Once Allen improves his jumpshot, he will be more of a factor on the offense for the Grizzlies especially as a pressure release man when Randolph or Marc Gasol (If Gasol re-signs) gets the double team.
