If I were the Grizz GM I would not change a thing. That is easier said than done. I do believe the Grizz have a great team.
So what kind of contract would you offer Mayo then?
*All contract figures are for the 2012-13
Remember you already have lots of $ strapped on Rudy Gay (16.4M); a little bit on Tony Allen (3.1M) and Mike Conley (7.1M) your starting backcourt. Your frontcourt earns 16.5M (Randolph) and 13.8 (Gasol)
That's starters salary of around 55M already. They can not afford Mayo, who'll demand something in around the MLE, and they don't have a bench for next year and even that they have to spend a bit (Darrel Arthur and Marresse Speights both need to sign the qualifying offer of around 3-4 M to stay)
The Grizz are a good team, not a great team. They need to be a great team to beat the likes of Oklahoma and other contenders. And to be a great team they need a legit and consistent 8-man rotation (not 5 or 6)
IF THERE IS NO BASKETBALL IN HEAVEN, I AM NOT GOING.
