Some are so strict like that in South Korea where one has to serve military service then there are those like the United Kingdom which so lax that they could even tap a person from a former colony of theirs in the British Commonwealth.

There are countries like the Phlippines and Lebanon who have a big portion of their people seeking greener pastures in other countries as either overseas workers or permanent migrants. Then there are countries like the United States and Australia which are flooded daily by foreign immigrants who go there either legally or illegally.

Now tell me what is the best way to do this. Is there any suggestions?

But for me personally I would not like what the Third Reich wanted which is to distinguish everyone via ethnicity in order to establish who is the superior race.
There is nothing we can do about it. As you've said each country has its own law and has different interpretation.

i am just wondering why these posters can't think of business terms, why can't they put their foot in the business owners shoes.

1.) why would the PBA team owners lend players to the national team? what can they get from that proposition?

2.) why would Ateneo and UC lend their prized player just to get banged-up in the international arena?

3.) why would ramon? ang of SMC and Uytengsu of Alaska help MVP in promoting his company SMART?

4.) why would the PBA showcase how inferior their players are compared to other Asian powerhouses?

5.) does the corporate overlords of these basketball players just lend them to a national cause out of the goodness of their heart

yo, people wake up, smell the freshly brewed cup of coffee named reality. basketball in these country will never ever be one and united due to the absence of an incentive of doing so. these country can never ever be number one in Asia in basketball unless the economic situation improves to the level of Korea and Japan or a MidEast level of oil will be discovered under Philippine jurisdiction.
The Blue Part: I would agree on this, with the PBA owners being so protective of their race horses,I doubt a national team full of PBA players will happen again..SMC did what I hope Smart Gilas would do..that's to join the ABL.

The Red Part: I don't think It has to do something with the economy though it could be a factor but not necesarrily a hindrance.Even with limited financial support,we prove to be competitive in Asia..but yes we need sponsors to support our NT..doesn't mean we need a multi Trillion dollar oil rig but it'll sure help.

someone on this thread posted about Chris Tiu convincing Don2 Hontiveros 2 reconsider his decision 2 back out frm d NT. I haven't heard any update regarding that. I just hope Chris would be able 2 convince don2 to rejoin Smart Gilas.

Philippine basketball needs Hontiveros badly. Maybe don2 was frustrated that he has hardly made any impact since joining Gilas, so far. But I believe that in Wuhan, don2 is due 4 some good games where he might be the "game changer".

Hope someone can update me regarding this. I know some filipino fans also wants an update regarding this. Thanks in advance.

Im the one who post it that chris tiu is trying to convince hontiveros to come back for the team. But sadly and according to some article its look like dondon will not anymore return to gilas because his already in cebu for his vacation and because of this I think larry fonacier is the one that is being tap to replace dondon for the team.
This is a sad development but who knows, fonacier might be a consistent three point shooter than hontiveros. For his defense, hope he will improve not more like dondon but being a decent defender maybe better.

thanks 4 d info. I read this article from a newspaper saying alapag & K. Wliams would need a few more days rest be4 joining Gilas practices. Wow! its as if FIBA-asia is not just barely 3 weeks from now. Alapag, from wat I've heard went 2 d states last thursday & might be bak perhaps Friday 2 join Gilas. W/ that development, TnT players would only have barely 2 weeks 2 jell & get adjusted 2 d system of Smart Gilas.

our team seems 2 be cramming once again! Haven't we learned our lesson from our past Nat'l. teams that cramming had cost our team's chances in d past international tournaments?

yeah!! its really frustrating what is happening to our team, knowing that fiba asia is just around the corner. But for now we just hope and stay positive that the recent development may be a blessing in disguise. Giving enough rest to kelly and jimmy maybe good for the team because it can make them fresh going to wuhan rather than give them a few rest and because of that they cant perform in higher level because of fatigue.

Yup, we are competitive in Asia but remember the law of diminishing returns the last ounce of effort to get that coveted no. 1 spot.

it takes more money to get that last 10% compared to the amount to get to 90% of being the best.

Well it is now pre determined...with the team's cramming preparation, the extremely late inclusion of mentally and physically drained TnT players, and the mindset of the gilas players who were recently drafted who seem to be more excited playing for the PBA than in Wuhan....

We are not placing any higher than 5th place. History repeats itself.

Lets hope the recent draft does not affect our stint in Wuhan. Hope no teams would disallow Gilas players from playing.

Wish this becomes a motovation to the guys to exit Gilas with a bang and score a very big upset in the FIBA-Asia Championship.

so petron got Dondon..the chances of him coming back to gilas is zero? is that right nardy..coz i always thought that one of the reason why Dondon quit Gilas is due to the fact that he is uncertain of his future in the PBA..he needs to negotiate with the team and get a contract..playing in gilas without PBA contract is too risky for him..

They kept on tweeting that Dylan will make turns head in the PBA. Is he the secret weapon of Smart-TNT Tropang Gilas?

or he will just be forever hidden in the PBA.

It's not the MAIN reason though now, after the official trade, that could come into play. Don Don's reason is a bit more personal, for which i really can't divulge as respect to the source i got it from.

Yeah its look like dondon return to petron is the signal that he will not anymore return to gilas.

Sir nardy is theres a possibility that the different pba teams that draft a player
from gilas will not anymore allow them to play in wuhan? especially lutz who's right now belongs to SMC group. If any teams allows this,im sure many fans will curse at them.

i see..so you could categorically say that with all the developments plus his main reason, there's zero percent that he could be back to gilas..i really want him to be back on gilas because of his defense especially against the wing shooters and he himself is a good shooter..

Gilas Management took the big risk of releasing its players to the Draft trusting that the good relations they now have with the PBA would result on them not having problems borrowing players in the future and in that future includes Wuhan in the short term.

We'll see in the next few days if Gilas gambled correctly in giving the PBA the benefit of the doubt or if they rolled the dice wrongly.

It's a two-way street. And it's a gamble. Either way, SBP should be able to work a compromise with the PBA on the exact nature of future loans.

There must have been a compromise between SBP and PBA to let these Gilas draftees to serve the NT up to Wuhan at least. Its inconceivable if they do otherwise.

common sense dictates that they should release the players atleast this coming wuhan games..the question however, do these personalities (PBA) have common sense? I wanted to believe they do have one..
