Riyadi Beirut (Lebanon) Passed Easily Al Riyadi Aramex (Jordan) ,but i think it was Wrong to have Lebanese Games at this Time (4 PM) All the Fans in this time have Work ,Universities and even schools ,and also the 2 Games of our Team Al Riyadi were an easy Games ,but for sure on Saturday and Sunday we will see a Full House for Sure and i m sure also that it will be very hard on Both Iranian Teams to beat Riyadi in Manara ,the team that can't loose in this Stadium !
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hosts canter through to victory in the clash of Riyadis

BEIRUT, Lebanon (WABA League): Defending champions Al Riyadi Beirut proved a little too better organized in their offense and more cohesive in their defense to beat their Jordanian namesakes Al Riyadi Aramex Amman 111-78 for their second successive win in the Group A Prelim Round of the WABA League on Thursday.

Aramex were playing their first game in the competition.

Egyptian Ismail Ahmad once again led the Riyadi assault from the front accounting for 16 of his game-high 25 points for the game in the first quarter.

An 8-0 run midway through the first quarter – with Ahmad accounting 4 points, 2 offensive rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal * – perched the hosts in control of the proceedings and their hold only grew as they game progressed.

“We are getting into rhythm rather well,” said Riyadi coach Fouad Abouchakra.

“We knew they are a team of rhythm. We couldn’t break that,” rued Abouchakra’s opposite number Motassem Salameh.

Picking holes further in the rival defense, although their own defense got a little scattered sporadically, Riyadi closed the first half with a 17-point cushion and played out time after that.

Ahmad dominated the defensive glass as much as on offense and had 11 rebounds in defense in an overall 14 collections.

Dewarick Spencer who got a little carried away on occasions and even copped a technical foul had 23 points.

Jean Abd El Nour contributed 20 points in Riyadi’s win.

“I guess the guys wanted to run a lot harder and faster to keep themselves warm,” joked Abouchakra reflecting on the frosty weather conditions.

“But it’s difficult to keep the focus when you build such a lead. Overall, I am quite happy with the way we are playing,” he said.

Salameh hopes the “tough opener” brings his team together.

“Playing against a team like Riyadi in the opening game and on their own courts was always going to be a tough proposition. We only hope playing this game has toughened our team out,” Salameh said.

Ayman Idais, playing his first game of the season for Aramex, had a 17-point game along with pulling down a dozen rebounds.

“This is a very young team. And we really haven’t played much in preparation,” said Idais.

“I guess we can only improve from here,” he added.

Ali Zaghab a member of the Jordanian National Team which won the silver medal at the 26th FIBA Asia Championship in Wuhan last year added 16 points with 8 rebounds.

WABL: Robust Riyadi top Group A with rousing win

BEIRUT, Lebanon (WABA League): Defending WABA League champions Al Riyadi Beirut scored the first nine points of the game and romped to a 104-64 triumph against Iran’s Zob Ahan to wrap up their Group A Prelim Round engagements winning all their four games and on top of the Group in front of a jam-packed Manara crowd on Sunday.

Riyadi’s all-win record earns them a quarterfinal play-off against No 4 team of Group B Prelim Round, which is scheduled to start on Jan 25.

Zob, who thus suffered their only defeat in four games in Group A finished No 2, will play the No 3 team from Group B.

That Loren Woods should score only two free-throws, and those were the only additions to Iranian international Oshin Sahakian sporadic conversions – for 7 points – during the entire first quarter, spoke for Zob’s struggle with their offense.

Riyadi, meanwhile, fired in all cylinders in their offense with Ismail Ahmad tall and strong under the boards, Ali Mahmoud crafty with his plays and American import Dewarick Spencer crisp in his long rangers.

Spencer had 10 of his team-high 30 points, Jean Abd El Nour (pic above) 7 of his 19 for the game, and Ahmad 8 of his eventual dozen in the first quarter; Ahmad also 4 of his 10 rebounds; And Mahmoud 3 of his game-high 8 assists. All in the first quarter.

A whopping 30-9 lead at the end of the first quarter sealed the issue in Riyadi’s favor.

With Zob’s struggle and Riyadi’s strength only growing, the remainder of the game only got the 4,000-odd fans cheer louder.

“This was the kind of start we had been looking for right throughout the season,” said Fouad Abouchakra.

“Of course, playing in front of a crowd which is screaming for your success spurs us on,” he said.

“But I think the key to our success was we struck rhythm right at the start. We are a team of rhythm and once we get that going we didn’t have any problems,” he added.

Woods, a part of the Riyadi team that won the triple titles last year, went on to finish with game-highs of 31 points and 16 rebounds, but the strife in the first quarter took the sheen off the showing.

“We didn’t play anything special for him,” Abouchakra said about Woods.

“But then when you are up against a quality player like him, you don’t go with special plans either,” he said.

“Our fast breaks and speed took us through. Probably they didn’t us expect hit that hard early,” said Mahmoud.

“We clicked right at the start and ensured ‘Lo’ wouldn’t be a factor. I think this is the best game we have played so far this season,” Mahmoud added.

Mouttahed Tripoli Team Decided to Play with Austin Johnson (192-PG)(USA) and Daniels Cruz (211-C)(USA) As Imports In WABA ,at first they wanted to Play with Corey Bradford (191-PG)(USA) than took this Decision ,For Sure Austin better than Corey and Will help a lot the team ,specially that he s a great Guard and a great Scorer for Mouttahed ,Also Daniels Cruz their New Center will help Them A lot ,He's A great Center !!
