But if it was up to me and not the Alaska management, i would ask for Borboran and the 4th pick... but knowing the Alaska circumstances it would be cash + cash + cash and maybe the 4th pick in the draft.

That's a practical choice but not an impacting decision. Chris Tiu is a sure crowd drawer, got the skills and leadership but Alaska needs someone who can bring an impact and reliability in the longest term possible. It should be a toss up between Chris Ellis and Cliff Hodge.

i won't be surprised if petron chooses chris tiu as #3 pick (fajardo as #1 is a fact already). imagine petron having lutz, lassiter, toroman, and tiu together.

i think that the #1 pick is not yet sealed for Fajardo. as Fajardo still has a live contract with the SMB- ABL for 2 more years. im sure ALaska don't want to be in a RIcky RUbio scenario.
there will be a big surprise as you know fans=money=ROY=coach looks good= managment very happy= commish seals his job for another year and so on.

Petron will buy-out Fajardo's contract with with SMB.Oh wait...

That's stupid! You can't buy-out your own player!

I'm talking about Alaska. why would Petron pick Fajardo 1st if they know that they have a live contract with him through SMB ABL. so they might pick Tiu first than Fajardo.coz if Alaska picks him 2nd then SMC can just use his contract for 2 years before they lend him to ALaska. coz in a managers or atleast my POV Tiu is a better investment than Fajardo.. haha

You on crack? Smc waited til they got the number one pick before having junmar sign up for the draft...why then wouldnt they take him at one?

I actually thought sharky's explanation was good-- pick somebody at 1 and force Alaska to pick Fajardo at 2. The danger with that of course is the Japeth saga all over again, one player holding a franchise hostage (because he does not want to be there) and the league doing something about it (threats of bans, etc) i hope people now understand the point then that if Japeth did not go to BURGER KING that this would be a bad precedent.

So yeah we doubt Petrom would want to risk it all since they have the number one pick anyway.

I don't think this is possible. A player joining the PBA Draft has to ensure that he has no contractual obligation with any other team. That includes teams associated with present PBA teams. In Fajardo's case, he may have a standing contract with SMB in the ABL but his joining the Draft would automatically render it null and void. It's easier to do so in this case since Petron is the one drafting him in the PBA Draft. Had Alaska gotten the first pick overall, there was no way for Fajardo to join the Draft unless a side agreement has been made with the Aces management on this.

This is why the Japeth precedent was crucial, different circumstances and similar situation in that a player threatened not to play or sign a contract because he wanted to be somewhere else. Let's not forget how eventually that turned out too, where eventually Japeth landed.

i don't know if there is a such rule in the PBA that once a player joins the draft his existing contract is null and void. but i just have this theory that if Fajardo would somehow go to ALaska 2nd overall. then SMC could just do the RIcky RUbio scenario(drafted 5th overall last 2009 at the NBA draft but Joventut was asking above the allowed price to buy out his contract) or the Japeth Aguilar scenario(i don't want to play in the PBA i want to play with GIlas). i'm, just looking at it in a managers POV but if i would base it on talent no question Fajardo will go 1st. but as everybody knows PBA is entertainment or money first before talent. haha

there's no debate on when JuneMar would be picked as Noli Eala has been very vocal that they'll have Petron select Fajardo as the #1 Draft Pick. Also Fajardo's handler , Atty. Estenzo also gone public that they would not have JuneMar join the draft unless its Petron which is picking him, so Fajardo only submitted his application when it was definite Petron has secured the #1 Draft Pick after the Draft Lottery. They would not complicate matters as the San Miguel group had gone great lengths to make sure the 6'10 Cebuano would go to their PBA team.

Alaska should pick Tiu for the 2nd overall pick and trade him for these two teams, either Meralco or TNT!

I doubt if they'll trade again to any SMC teams...
