it's obvious that both teams need a lot of work. Omar turned to be a hero in this game coming off the bench. Yeah knocked it on GS's face for not calling him with the NT.

Fadi lost some speed. Apparently the stop this summer made him a bit off, but he will comeback definitely. He scored around 30 pts playing like this how about when he reach his full physical fitness.

The referees made some mistakes but GS's reaction was penalized with two technical fouls gave the game to Riyadi. They scored three free points just like that and won the game.

I understand referees are human and make mistakes. It's not only on Champville, Riyadi as well took some bad whistle to be fair but they continued to play the game like pros and not bitching around with every call.

Conclusion: The League looks very promising and challenging and hope everyone bring their A game. May the best team win.

First About Antranik Game ,It Seems that Ian Young didn t do well as his first Game ,scoring only 8 pts ...as we all know that Antranik need a scoring machine ,a scoring Guard specially that they have young players ,so if Ian performs well Antranik will make a good Job !! hope Ian in the next game will be good ,we all know that he s a good player

Sagesse’s Accaoui ready to make up for lost time on the court

BEIRUT: You wouldn’t think that someone who stands 5’10”, and weighs 165 pounds would be so influential on a basketball court. But Joey Accaoui, the newcomer to the Lebanese basketball league and Sagesse Club, caught the eyes of everyone who attended the game at Antonine Court last Wednesday in Zahle.

Accaoui was impressive throughout the game, but particularly in the third quarter where he scored 10 of his 15 total points to put his team back into the game against Anibal, before Sagesse eventually fell 71-70.

Accaoui, whoseparents left for the United States in the mid-1980s, is Lebanese-American and has been playing in the American college system for the last four years for the Vermont Catamounts, who are an NCAA Division 1 team. He averaged 11.3 ppg with a decent percentage from the 3-point line (37 percent) and the free throw line ( 82 percent) during his senior season.

Despite being an undersized point guard, the 22-year-old has the ability to penetrate quickly and score over big guys.

He is known for having a solid work ethic.

“To play in Lebanon has been both extremely exciting, for both myself and my family. I am thrilled to be playing here and I am having lots of fun,” Accaoui told The Daily Star’s Sports Weekly.

“The level [of play] here is very high. The game is totally different than the American one where the players are slightly faster, but the Lebanese players are far more fundamental in understanding the game.

“I have heard about the long history of Sagesse which makes me more excited to help this team win championships like before,” added Accaoui.

“Our main target is to reach the final four first and hopefully later the championship, but we have to take it one game at a time.

“I expect our team to compete with the best teams and hopefully win as many games as possible. We have a new team with only two players from last year, but we are progressing fast and working very hard,” explained Accaoui.

Accaoui also praised his teammates and the way they welcomed him in the club.

“They are all fantastic. They have been really good to me in my adjustment here. They are all very talented and great players.

“Coach Toni Vujanic is a very smart coach, and he is pushing our team to become better every day. The management is doing everything in their power to make us a great team for the fans. As a whole, Sagesse is working hard to bring back to the fans the excitement they had” said Accaoui.

Accaoui, despite his great performance in his first game, clearly has his teammates’ interests closest at heart.

“It wasn’t enough, what matters at the end is that my team lost.

“We played tough but we noticed some mistakes we made that we need to fix. We are growing as a team, and we have lots of room for improvement. The Anibal game shows we can beat the good teams in the league,” indicated Accaoui.

Accaoui, who signed a one-year contract at the beginning of this season with Sagesse, came on board with the team one year later than expected, as he decided first to opt for law school, leaving basketball dreams behind. However, those plans have changed.

“It was a real tough decision because basketball has been something I’ve been doing all my life,” explained Accaoui.

However, Accaoui’s name was floated in the past as a possible candidate to join the Lebanese national team.

“I would like to play for the national team at some point, but right now I am focused on Sagesse and the up and coming season,” said Accaoui.

Accaoui had a message for Sagesse fans and Lebanon basketball supporters in general.

“Sagesse is working hard and we have a fun and exciting team. I hope we can bring you all the happiness and we hope you will all continue to support us.

“To all the fans, I hope you all continue to cheer on Lebanese basketball. We are all one family as basketball players and we should keep thinking positively about all players despite the team they play for. We are all one nation and one family.”
