Much curiosity for the U17 US boys, led by Jabari Parker, but imo this team is not comparable with the great 2010 World champion squad that dominated the competition. Too many good players are out this year and it will be very difficult for the American boys to repeat the 2010 triumph.
I agree. At least on papert this team is a step down from the 2010 team. It is not a bad team but not as talented as it could have been had a couple players not had injuries or had to drop out for one reason or another.

Domingo and Jones seem to be getting the twitter love along with Okafor.

Good performance by the Argentinian team anyway. I think we are going to be very competitive at the U17WC, some very good prospects in this team.

Jabari Parker will sit out also today's game with Australia, for precautionary reasons (injured toe).

Hi carlo, is this the same Duncan on my short lived thread or am I mistaken?

At Gran Canaria tournament, Spain easily leads at halftime over Latvia 47-18, José I Nogués 11 pts.
Eurohopes blogs that Latvians look weak and tired, but Spain is different today.

USA leads at halftime 47-38. "USA is trying to break the game but Aussies have answers" (Eurohopes blog).
Australia had a flashy start leading 14-4 after 3', then USA tied the game at 21 with Jahlil Okafor and took first lead 26-24 at the end of Q1 with a three by Kendrick Nunn (Eurohopes blog).

P.S. Okafor leads with 15 pts (USA Basketball)

USA 89 - AUS 64, with Okafor 19 pts, S. Johnson 15, Stephen Domingo & Kendrick Nunn 10 pts apiece (USA Basketball).

USA wins Gran Canaria tournament but more important had a true, tough opponent in Australia that will meet again in the first game of the World's championship prelim. A good test for USA boys.

    Tournament MVP Jahlil Okafor.

thanks for all the updateds Carlo. This was a solid start for this young squad with some of the top 2014ers playing well. Getting Parker back should obviously be a big boost as well. Can't wait for the tournament to start!

I heard that the quarterfinals-finals will be broadcast online but not the preliminary games. Does anyone know where we might be able to watch any preliminary games?

I remember team USA at last year U16 Tournament of Americas, they were great. I see the roster has changed a litle bit. Is this team as strong as last year?

I think just slightly weaker mostly because of the absence of Aaron Gordon. I would have liked to see James Young on this team too but he had something come up that kept him from participating, I can't remember what it was.
