    Default African Champions Cup 2011

Reigning champion 1º de Agosto failed to qualify for the Cup this year, but FIBA Africa has invited them to take part.
How do you regard this? Is this fair?

    Thanks Rik for the updates

I do believe as usually is the case the competition will be between the Angolan teams (Petro Luanda and 1º de Agosto), Tunisia (Etoile de Sahel) and AS Sale from Morocco since they are playing on their home court.

The semis imo will be between Petro Luanda vs. 1º de Agosto from one side and Etoile de Sahel vs. Sale in the other matchup.

If Etoile de Sahel ends up winning against AS Sale in the semis they will be the Champions imo.

Congrats for Etoile on winning the African Champions Cup !! They literally destroyed the Angolan team with a 22 point win margin!!

I knew they could do it

    Final Score
1º de Agosto 60 Étoile du Sahel 82

"Just as it senior men national team dethrone Angola at the 26th Afrobasket for Men in Madagascar Etoile Sportive du Sahel basketball club of Tunisia Wednesday night dethrone yet another Angola club-side Primeiro de Agosto basketball club in the grand finale of the 26th Africa Champions Cup for Men in Sale, Morocco.

Etoile who began the onslaught against Agosto with a 22-16 and 18-16 points first half win to take an 8-point advantage of 40-32 points into the break, it gave up the third quarter by a point 17-18 points but rallied back powerfully in the last and deciding quarter to rattle the former champion winning the quarter by 25-10 points for a final score line of 82-60 points the worst defeat Agosto has suffered in the last ten years.

Macram Ben Romdhane led his team quest for silver-ware with a double double effort of 21 points and 12 rebounds; points guard Willie Kemp had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steal ageless forward Radhouane Slimane also had a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds while Omar Mouhli added 11 points to round up victory for their side".
As for the 3-4 place game As Sale won over the other Angolan team Petro:

The Moroccan had trailed their opponent in the first half of the game losing by 23-24 and 14-24 points for half-time score of 37-48 points.

And with defeat staring them in the face the coach Lazare Adingono tutored Moroccan however, rose to the challenge at the resumption of the third quarter which it won convincingly by 29-11 points to take a seven points lead into the fourth quarter, though it lost the final quarter to the Angolan side by 14-16 but that was not enough to stop them from winning the game as final score at the buzzer stood at 80-75 points.

Looks like I jinxed 1º de Agosto
Finally a club challenges their dominance and I'm glad Étoile won. 1º de Agosto shouldn't even be in the tournament in the first place. I'd be very unfair if they had taken the title.
    Congrats to Salé as well.

Tunisia's advancement in basketball over the last few years has come a long way and their results have been really impressive both regarding their NT as well as the results of their league teams (mind you that Etoile du Sahel last played in the African Champions Cup back in 2008 and they didn't participate in the last 2 editions).

2009: Tunisia gets 3rd place in the African Basketball Championship and qualifies to World Championships
2010: Tunisia participates in the World Championships (first time in their history)
2011: Tunisia wins African Basketball Championship and qualifies to Olympics (first time in their history)
2011: Etoile Du Sahel wins African Champions Cup
